Today Monday 6th September, 2010 UMBRO are delighted to officially unveil the New Ireland Change Kit. The kit has been given a complete makeover with a darker shade of green or St Patrick's Green, being used as the secondary colour and the new version of the FAI crest trimmed in green and gold. The new tailored design smashes performance and style together .
The new home kit will be available for purchase from early October.
The new design tailored by UMBRO looked at all the elements that are important to the player and fans alike including heritage, identity, performance, effortless function and a tailored fit. The design team wanted to understand the motion of the football player and looked at ergonomic football forms rather than having a garment created on an existing muscular body form. The result is the creation of a football specific form which takes into account the shape of the body when playing football.
Commenting on the new kit Jonathan Courtenay Director Of Football at UMBRO Ireland, said "At UMBRO we pride ourselves on innovative kit design, I believe that this new "Tailored by UMBRO" Ireland change kit has achieved a modern look and feel while maintaining many of the identifiers that make the kit instantly recognisable as Irish. Through an individual fitting session with the Ireland Team last year we were able to create a bespoke smart fit for the kit and identify the specific size for each player. The players loved the kit concept when we showed it to them at a squad session last year and I know from some focus group feedback that the fan reaction is very positive".
Fan's can pre-order their kits from Wednesday 8th September.

3 (the mobile phone network) is irelands shirt sponsor.
he was being sarcastic. I worry about some people.
and also i am highly against shirt sponsors with national teams
I believe the Switzerland replicas have a sponsor on the shirt aswell...
they don't wear the jersey with a sponsor for matches ... FIFA rules do not allow it. It's only for merchandise
and the sponsor, ireland could take the idea of that kind of template for numbers, is find
I'd love to see EIRE or a phase.....
as Gaeilge.
UNITED99, I assume by the 'our' comment that your name refers to Waterford United or Monaghan United. How hypocritical would it be of you if it referred to a 'foreign' team from the Manchester area???
As for the kit, like most others have said, very nice in a back-to-basics way, but the sponsorship is annoying.
Some people have mentioned that they would prefer the Gaelic word "Eire" instead of "Ireland" on the badge. I don't have a strong view on this matter but would like to point out that "Eire" is placed on the inside of the collar at the back. Maybe it could have been placed on the outside of the collar at the back.
Those numbers OMG!
Simple but Majestic!
