We already showed you a leaked picture last month, but as Manchester City look ahead to an exciting new season, the new 2011/2012 home shirt, which captures the passion of the fans in a unique way, has been officially revealed.
The new home shirt, which is tailored by Umbro, features a soundwave graphic of fans singing ‘Blue Moon’, which is subtly embedded within the shirt, will be available here.
To help launch the shirt, Umbro teamed up with Beady Eye, fronted by City fan Liam Gallagher, who have recorded a special version of Blue Moon which mixes into their new single, The Beat Goes On. Have a look at the video here.
Liam said: “I’ve been a City fan since I was a kid so to be involved with the launch of a new kit is colossal. Manchester City fans are known for having a lot of style and the new shirt looks mega.
“Blue Moon is a top tune and has been City’s song for as long as I can remember. It’s been covered by loads of people but the only good one until now was the one Elvis did. I hope the fans buzz off our version and sing along to it at the stadium.”

Manchester City’s Chief Brand and Commercial Officer, Ian Cafferky, said:
“Manchester City Football Club has always connected well with fashion and music. This special relationship has spanned decades and helped shape Manchester’s rich cultural landscape.
“Blue Moon is part of City’s DNA. Liam covering the song is a fitting tribute to both the Club and the fans. As a true Blue himself, it is great to have him as the first fan to wear the new home kit. We look forward to playing it next season in the stadium.”
David Blanch, Senior Designer at Umbro, commented: “You can go anywhere in the world and people will know two things about Manchester: football and music. For the new Manchester City Home shirt, we wanted to combine the elements of football and sound in a new and original way.
“Our starting point was the club’s anthem, Blue Moon. When fans are singing Blue Moon, it becomes more than just a song – it’s a connection between the fans and the players. We went into the Stadium to record a section of the fans singing the song. From this recording, we extracted an audio clip and created a soundwave graphic which is used within the shirt. One of the most powerful ways in which any fan can positively influence a football match is through sound. We've harnessed that and made it part of the Manchester City's home kit. This is a truly innovative football strip."
Trevor Cairns, Chief Marketing Officer for Umbro, added: “‘Blue Moon’ is the connection between Manchester City fans and the players. Hearing the song – whether it’s before, during or after games – is an inspiration to the City players. We wanted to celebrate this relationship by capturing the song within the shirt. This is the first time that fans have been featured within a football shirt in this way. We hope both the players as well as the fans are proud to wear it.”
The new 2011/2012 Manchester City home kit is available for pre-order now and will be on sale from 22nd July.

The Gallagher's are both supporters of Manchester City.
He did actually. Liam once wore a Man City jacket on Top Of The Pops, he was one of their best-known, most visible fans during the 90s when they were at best mediocre and their neighbours were the most fashionable club on Earth.
Ricky Hatton.
He's a poor John Lennon inpersonator who cant sing.
I wasn't too sure about it at first glance.
its Superbia In Proelio what a shirt best shirt this season ctid
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
what next there gonna sell carlos tevez and call him etihad tevez just so they can get more money which they dot even need
actually man citys turnover last season was poor cos they payed out more on players and players wages than what they actually recieved in ticket and shirt sales
considering how good their last 2 home shirts were this is quite disappointing is that soundwave really necessary
It's classy when United do it...
Neat, tidy, classy
Wish Umbro would treat all their clients the same. I know it's down to money - but a good template is a good template.
Money or no money, he really is an ugly SOB.
why do they have a collar in the v-collar?
Very strong marketing campaign!
Think you may need to adjust the colours on your screen Sunshiiiine as this is clearly sky blue
The top picture looks grey, i know the shirt is actually sky blue.
Really? Stick it you utter, utter bore
BooHoo Tim, no need for the language, just pointed out that you really are a joyless, dull, little man.
I'll make it simple for you: If you don't want to read people's comments on football kits, don't continually visit and revisit a site about fooball kits and scroll down and read the comments section. What do you expect to find there, you daft twat?
But surely tim1902 is allowed to express which features he doesn't like about it without some knob just ripping into him. Like he said, it is about talking about kits...
CITY ARE A MASSIVE CLUB

OMG seriously Gok Wan? Girlfwend! No!
collar slightly lets it down
must admit goalkeeper strip looks good too - http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6027/5939477051_7aaa4d78c7_b.jpg
The shirt is a grower though, frickin hated it when it was previewed on here the other week but actually quite like it now. Bit of thoughts gone into it which is cool.
FAIL!
Etihad translates to Unity OR Union but not United. Mutahed (Masculan) OR Mutaheda (Feminine) is the right translation to United.
umbro are clearly beyond all other kit designers
IF i buy this one i will have the collar altered
COME ON CITY
Can't stand Liam Gallagher, looks like such a tramp
then the polka dot (circles) soundwave pattern on the shirt is very free form
just doesnt match, i would have sacked the extra collar off
not as good as citys kit for the past two seasons
The soundwave is made up of squares, not round polka dots (circles)
Its one of umbros better kits but its still very poor.
label it 40 pounds (or more) and ripp the idiots off.....
what else do you need to run a medicre football club??
Who are you...Ian Brown???
untalented twat! he was the frontman of one of britains most sucessful bands
Well done Umbro.
Nice Kits!!
