Glad to see the collar looks less dodgy than the "leaked" photos. I think this kit will take some time to grow on people, but I actually like it. The socks are awesome, the added gold is welcome (and hopefully applies to the numbers and name on back). The lack of stripes isn't as weird to me as the Puma logo and team crest being out of sorts on the front. I wish they'd have just used the Puma wordmark and lined it up with the crest. Also, I don't get the random white block on the shorts.

After seeing Coventry's kit, I did have hopes this would be scrapped for a remake of the 1969 Fairs Cup kit for Newcastle. While it isn't that, I don't think this kit is all that bad

It's the same price as the normal kit - you just have to be a member to buy it.

Anyway it's nicer than last years cheap tat so Im happy enough.

The gold badge version looks a little better.

Puma's insistence on putting a big white border on the badge... don't understand at all.

No need for the big side stripes either, would look better with normal stripes.

For a shirt I think it's tons better than this seasons shirt if not for being different. Admittedly and as stated before in terms of puma kits the Coventry one is by far the strongest and that template with your famous stripes would look immense.
One thing that is in poor taste (possibly) is the "alternative" badge. With the current economic climate and the north being hit full pelt, one would hope this isn't more expensive.

All in all will suit the team, just wonder who is going to be the star 9 in it

from the video I would guess that the black and white shirts shown are training tops. Could be wrong though.

My opinion hasn't changed from the leaked shot of this shirt. Rather then the center stripes, I find the sleeves to be the part that I dislike most. I would prefer the shirt more if they went with black sleeves with white trim, rather then the reverse. The badge placement is fine on the regular shirt (although the gold badge does look much worse). Not wild about the black shorts either. It makes the uniform a bit too bland for my liking.

Personally, if the preferable option of keeping the traditional striped kit was taken off the table entirely, I would have suggested a black shirt with the two vertical white lines and white edging around the ends of the sleeves, white shorts with a pair of black lines running down either side, and the black socks would stay pretty much the same.

People are always afraid of the unknown eh? We see stripes that 'are not' stripes and the panic button is pushed! I can imagine if Puma had designed a 'Classic' stripe repeat, there would be lots of comments about the 'designers being lazy', or 'thats not original' or 'thats unimaginative'.......

I also see comments about 'Newcastle should have gone to Umbro' and when there is an Umbro Shirt shown the comments follow about them being plain or boring designs or that 'tailored' is a thing of the past!

Stayed with Adidas is another classic, do you remember that monstrosity of a kit that was Orange and Yellow and sold 3 shirts on its release date? Yeah that was classy stuff from Adi

OK, granted that the stripes are unusual and may offend some peoples eyes, but answers on a post card, what can you do with Black and White Stripes? You can leave them be, but cue the 'that's boring' comments. I would be very interested to see the comments if Nike or Adidas had released that Shirt as I'm sure their corporate brainwashing would have made some people type 'Wow, that's an imaginative way to design a stripe repeat'.....

Football is all about history and tradition, both of which can be rewritten and I say well done to any brand that looks to interpret what is fundamentally a dull stripe repeat. Newcastle have quite possibly the most loyal fan base and I'm sure St James' Park will see a far few of those shirts (aside from the players of course)

Why put the Puma logo almost on the shoulder? This shirt could look so much better if it wasn't for the curious mis-alignment of its logos. The club crest is almost on the armpit, it should be half on the white stripe and half on the black one on the left hand side of the chest.

Does nobody remember the 'barcode' kit from the early 90's? That was an even bigger departure from the norm.

Or the one with the big shield on the back from the late 90's that pretty much forced you to fork out the extra money to have a number printed. Not a good look.

I don't think this new one is too bad in comparison.

That Asics shirt was the best we've had since 70/72, makes me pray for a return of the Blue Star and some classy design.

I bought the 97 kit again because it was the first I remember having (Had the maroon and Blue hooped away kit before - stingy parents), personally I think it looks great. As for the new kit: don't love it, will probably end up buying it if I can find it for substantially less than fifty quid. Bar stewards.

Stop being so negative about this kit. I bet when they wear it on the final home game it will look really good in the flesh. Obviously your going to pick faults with a shirt by sitting there looking at the same picture of it for hours. Newcastle is a good going into a new generation (hopefully) anyway, so why not have a shirt that represents new and innovative ideas. Hope the supposed orange away kit is also good.

simply shocking. what a mare of a shirt and the goalie one looks like a homemade rip off of spurs, you know, the sort you get on market stalls in greece and outside old trafford. no fan of newcastle but I actually feel sorry for you, how do you mess up a classic?????

Te goalie top is excellent but the home shirt is horrible!

In fact, it's even worse than that 'barcode' effort we had in the 1992-1993 season.

i actually quite like it. ive seen it in the club shop too and looks better when you see it up close. its also better material than the 2010-2011 kit too. the gk top makes me want to cry though i actually feel bad for harper, krul, sodeberg and forster for having to wear it next year!

Really like both the home and goalkeeper kits, people will have to adjust but when they do thyme realise it's a very decent kit come on people pull yourselves together

The badge positioning is pathetic :S Overall however it looks better than the last one :) Looked pretty sweet on MOTD tbh!
