Bridgford's for the drifters in Nottingham, don't try playing the class card, dude; Notts may have been the Toffs' team a hundred odd years ago but there's plenty of Florist supporters in WB. I take it you live in The Park?
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

+2 # 2011-06-19 23:36
I own The Park - all of it.
You obviously not a long time local lad, 'coz "dude" isn't heard too often in Notts dialect - me duck. Modern Sneinton doesn't have great history as it was razed and rebuilt in the '60's unlike The Park - very classy.

If you know your history it's enough to make your heart go woooooaahhhhhhhhh.

Why wouldyou Maggies write on a forum about a Forest shirt. Your all sooooo envious - saddos.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

0 # 2011-06-26 11:05
I don't live in 'modern' Sneinton, DUDE (Having been a nineties lad, 'dude' is heard everywhere, I rarely used 'duck' but 'feller').

Nor am I envious; I don't live on past glories. I just feel it's a poor away shirt, the forum is regarding footy shirts not just Florist, you wouldn't catch me being THAT sad.

It's a bad shirt, albeit quality in being Umbro; have you not seen ours this season? It's the worst home shirt I've ever seen.

I thought you had signed a new deal, or one was tabled. Personally, I like tradition and believe all English clubs should be made by English manufacturers IN England. Would create more jobs and would only be just...and 'fair trade'.

No team called Notts Forest. Its Nottingham Forest or Nottm Forest if you want to abbreviate it. "Nottingham" is the City "Notts" is the County of Nottinghamshire.

Nuff said - and yes it has touched a nerve - as it does for every tricky that knows their history.

And yes the shirt is hideous. Complete opposite to the classic Home Shirt. Why couldn't it have been Sherwood Green with a little black instead?

That said, under current boundaries, you ARE in Rushcliffe Borough, in the County of 'Notts.', and NOT Nottingham City proper. I'm not arguing, I just think that Rushcliffe/City dividing line a stupid shape.

Oh yeah good call - can see where you're coming from. Funny that as the colour is Sherwood Green as in Robin Hood. Forest have historically had a link to the older local legend (not Cloughie or Psycho) and used to run out to the theme tune from the old (1950's?) Robin Hood movie.
