Peru Third Shirt 11/12 Umbro

This is the new Peruvian national team third shirt produced by Umbro for 2011/2012.

The shirt has been specially produced to commemorate the only Peruvian team to make it to a World Cup quarter-final so far before being knocked out by eventual champions and one of the most famous teams of all-time, Brazil. In a time when the away shirt didn't feature Peru's now famous sash design, the South American wore a solid red design to play again Bulgaria where they mirculously won 3-2 from being 2-0 behind with all 3 goals scored in the second half of the game.

The shirt itself is may remind you of the current England away shirt but with a collar, and you're right, except that and the logo and a couple of other minor things such as a miniture rosette at the bottom of the shirt and different authentication marks. But with such an important meaning behind the shirt to Peruvian football fans, and such a close resemblance to the 1970's shirt, it's sure to evoke stong feelings for a nation lacking in in the football glory department.

Agree, the tailored by Umbro thing was great at the start, but now it's just the same/similar design every time.

To be fair though, it is an international third kit that is probably never going to be worn. Also, like the England away kit, it is based on the old Umbro Aztec shirts, so it's a fairly obvious choice to use the same template.

The article seems a bit confused as Peru have been to four World Cups: 1930, 1970, 1978 and 1982. This is based on the 1970 change jersey.

Why do people love to hate so much? Simple or not, it's a great looking shirt.

This is not bad, but this exact shirt can be done by any brand. Just changeanything that says Umbro. It isn't original, and that shouldn't be rewarded.

Its a great shirt.

But with the away shirt being red with a white sash is this shirt really necessary?

These skin tight shirts look ridiculous. Bring back the normal looking shirts.

EEXXAACCTTLLYY! If a player wants a skin tight feel, then he should wear an under armour compression under shirt!

Talking of templates getting "old" or being the "same" after practically one and a half years they have been introduced demonstrates how people are following the absurd acceleration the football shirt market (and the entire world, for that matter) has taken and how in this way they feed the consequent, ridiculous habit of brands producing a new kit for teams every season. Which obviously means less study, less care, more silly designs just to a change the previous, less quality, less affection from supporters.
Just calm down and enjoy...

This is the template Canada should have chosen instead of the V-shape super hero Star Trek shambles we got instead.
