peru 11/13 umbro home football shirt

This is the new Peru 11/13 home football shirt made by Umbro which will be used during the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Peru's current design was first used for the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, and it consists of a red stripe that crosses the chest diagonally from the left shoulder to the hip's right.

Thanks to Jose and Milton

Nice shirt.

no, it is ridiculous that they really came out with yet another jersey that looks soooo similar to the last, and has basically no changes to the last one...nice kit, but consider what I just said, and it really is annoying more than anything

Despite being born and raised in the UK, my family are all from Perú, so I am following up my appreciation of this shirt with questions about the significance of the collar colours.. watch this space

Then again, is there any reasoning behind the little stars on the shoulders of the England shirt, or the clown-like styling of the new goalie shirt?

The "Little stars" on the England shirt are actually multi-coloured versions of the St George cross.

For those of you who don't know, the colours on the collar represent the colours that represent the Tahuantisuyu, the Incan empire (which are the colours of the rainbow). You can still see these colours on flags when you go to many Peruvian andean cities. The flag looks vaguely similar to the gay pride flag, although I've heard that's entirely coincidential (the rainbow, you know).

Each colour represents something that's was precious to the Incas, and supposedly nowadays to Peruvians (red is bravery, green the natural richness of the country, yellow the abundance of minerals, etc.)

This is actually a really good piece of work. The designer (one woman) put a lot of thought into symbols of national identity. I love the crest (which has been adapted from the regular FPF crest to suit the sleekness of the design), but I don't quite like that the band becomes thinner on the way down… I don't quite understand why it was chosen to be like that.

Umbro is doing fantastic things in Peru (not only this one, but the three local teams it sponsors also have fantastically designed kits). Fantastic job in my opinion.

I love the Peru design, and when manufactorers don't muck around with it it's always a really nice kit. Personaly I don't like the collar detail but if it really has that meaning then I have no problem at all.

If it's just Umbro trying to be clever though then shame on them.

I'm not very fond of having the colours on the collar either. In my opinion, they should have been put somewhere less obtrusive, but alas... at least it looks rather interesting and unlike anything I've ever seen in other football kits.

Heh, nice try. I'm Peruvian and there's been a lot of media attention surrounding the design of the shirt, particularly because the design was commissioned to a single female 20-something year old. There was a video floating around (in Peruvian news sites at least) with an interview in which she explained a lot of her design choices.

I hope this resolves your suspicions.

I have recently won this Peru Home Shirt in a Twitter Competition. Unfortunately, they sent me size small (which would be a bit of a squeeze!). Therefore, I've put it on eBay and hopefully, someone will want it.

I've looked around a few online forums and it appears this shirt is hard to come by. I have put a buy-it-now option so you can snap it up fast. I will be advertising it on forums too so I expect it to be snapped up fast.

I don't know if this link will work
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250937167432?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_1134wt_922
...but if you type "Peru Home Short Sleeve shirt" you should find it.

Very nice imo. This should have been the Canada team shirt. The colours on the inside collar would have been reminiscent of the famous Hudson's Bay Company brand/colours/point blanket pattern.

Instead, Umbro gave Canada the Star Trek designed shirt.
