real madrid 11/12 adidas third football shirt

This is the Real Madrid 11/12 third football kit made by Adidas, which will be available here.

The new Real Madrid 2011-2012 Third Shirt reaches back to a memorable European Cup moment for its inspiration. Its commemorative neck tape and striking allover red colour is drawn from a kit worn by the "Heroes of Odessa" during the 1973 tournament. Real Madrid legends Zoco, Pirri and Amancio wore Real Madrid's previous red kit in the eraly 1970s.

Pirri:

"We were surprised by having to wear a red shirt in Cardiff. So were our supporters. We usually had two kits: white or purple/blue. It was a good experience wearing that shirt. Today's shirt is no different from the one we wore; It has the same crest and the players who wear it also give their all."

Amancio:

"Wearing red was quite sensational, especially in Odessa, where our goalkeeper Garcia Remon cleared every single shot."

"You know, the only difference between this shirt and ours is the texture. Ours was made of cotton and increased its weight with sweat. The crest is the same and that's why we'll always like any Real Madrid shirt."

"I very much liked Jose Mourinho's first year at Real Madrid. He is a great coach and I generally defend him because he goes in for the kill."

Zoco:

"When I saw the red shirt upon entering the dressing room I felt much younger because I had just played three years with Osasuna. I ran to it to check it had the Real Madrid crest. I had my picture taken as team captain with Garcia Remon, the hero of the match. We dubbed him the Odessa Cat that day."

Because it's red and designed by adidas?

Erm, yes, that's exactly why.

Just like if they chose royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks, people would rightly point out that it's the Chelsea kit.

Or if they chose red shirts, white shorts and black socks, people would rightly point out that it's Man United's kit.

What kind of retard sees an all-red football kit and doesn't think of Liverpool?

Because it isn't Liverpool's kit :L It's Real Madrid's, because it has a red colour and 3 stripes down the arm doesn't mean it's Liverpools kit.

You're missing the point. What if Madrid (or any other team) came out with a kit that had yellow shirts, blue shorts and white socks - that wouldn't remind you of any famous football kit? Would you pour scorn on anyone who dared point out its resemblence to a Brazil kit?

Real Madrid wore the red kit at Ninian Park in 1971 in the Cup Winners' Cup semi-final first leg. Not sure why they wore it because we wear blue.

Are they wearing red because adidas ran out of ideas?

Adidas man and a Real exectutive discussing the next 3rd kit:

adidas: Violet shirt?

RME: - Done that

Black shirt?

- Ummm, done that too. We have one already.

Green?

- Yup!

Blue?

- Erm. Yeah.

Red?

- Barca wear red as a secondary colour don't they? So do Atléti.

-Those idiots from the far east won't know that. As long as it has "RONALDO, 9" on the back, they will sell like fresh paella! Muahahahahahaaaaaa!

I wouldn't buy a shirt with RONALDO 9 on the back,
id prefer a shirt with his actual squad number....... 7

King Warrior says - 3 out of 10
and that's being polite!

I normally hate Real Madrid shirts, a lot of that is because of the club itself and its history. That said this is really nice. Striking colour with some history behind it and a very simple (some will say boring but I say understated) design.

Well done.
