Republic of Ireland 11/12 Umbro Away Kit

This is the new Republic of Ireland national team away shirt for 2011/2012 manufactured by Umbro.

The brief for the new design was to look at all the elements that are important to the player and fans alike including heritage, identity, performance, effortless function and a tailored fit.

The design team wanted to understand the motion of the football player and looked at ergonomic football forms rather than having a garment created on an existing muscular body form.

The result is the creation of a football specific form which takes into account the shape of the body when playing football. Also key to the thinking behind this new jersey was that we wanted a product that would look just as good off the pitch during your 1350 minutes as it does during your 90 minutes on the pitch. The stunning black kit is the first significant colour change away from White for an Ireland shirt in a number of years.

Technically, the Ireland change shirt is crafted to the highest specification from a textured fabric that provides comfort and breathability. This jersey feels absolutely fantastic on the skin. This is a result of the polyester blend used on most of the shirt. It looks and feels comfortable like cotton but is extremely effective at absorbing moisture away from the skin and drying quickly. Anatomically tailored sleeves provide a great look and excellent feel whilst dart detailing is employed for an enhanced fit. The shirt also features a grandad collar neck with a concealed popper closure for a clean finish.

The makeup of the Change jersey is also excellent for casual wear depending how you spend your 1350 minutes. You will look good and feel even better whatever you are up to...

They only have the white away one a wet week and let's face it there aren't many other international teams wearing green these days....

Not exclusive template (http://www.footballshirtculture.com/11/12-kits/athletic-bilbao-2011-2012-umbro-away-shirt.html) but the final result is awesome, anyway...

Apparently it is. Been told this by one of the guys at Umbro Ireland:

"it's different material and panels and bilbao ain't out until next season! Ireland are priority!"

Is this not the change/third kit? They white away is current until 2012. Another Ireland kit is pointless. Is it nice though!

eirecom is still the best. this kit should be the change/3rd kit though since the white away is said to be used till 2012 as stated by statto25

"i F**KING HATE the FAI ....ROBBING C*NTS"

You are so right man. This is bullshit carryon, typical from the FAI. I only bought the new white away kit in November for a nephew and it cost a packet. Now a stupid 'black' kit that let's face it will probably only be worn once or twice. Unless we are going to be playing Celtic on a regular basis there is no need for this. Umbro make ok kits but this is just more screwing....from them and the FAI money grabbers. Grey shirts, white shirts, pink shirts..wtf. Orange shirts next guaranteed...

Totally agree with the "FAI theiving b*stards" angle. hey are up sh!t creek money-wise so they're trying everything they can to fleece more money. Ticket prices, kits etc. I remember when the home came out, with the eircom on it, I paid €0 for it. Then I read that 3 were taking over as sponser, I thought, that won't be until the next home comes out.....a few weeks later, f*ckin 3 emblazened all over the jersey I'd just bought!!

And to think they did all that for us imagine!!! How nice of them to go to all that trouble!!! And I just thought they were trying to make a profit!!!

FAI =money hungry whores.

I believe the change from eircom to 3 mobile has been causing alot of these changes ;mate of mine works for FAI), the White should have been out earlier last year but delayed by the change in sponsor. 3 paying the money and calling the shots I believe! Still shouldn't happen, great kit though in all fairness.

All this Umbro 'concept' rubbish is bollocks, same with the England 'multi-cultural' crosses on the shoulder of the shirt...just design a bloody football shirt!!!

Well, this is the same template used for the new Athletic Club kits, but I still like the alterations. No where near as sleek and classy as the previous Ireland home. That kit will always be one of my favorites of all-time.

The supporters version with the 3 sponsor looks very spupid and ruins the whole look. No national shirt should have a sponsor. But i think it would look great without the 3 and with green letters and numbers.

I like the template but not sure about the black-green combination.

I think that looking Ireland playing in black is odd.

And I bought as well the white kit this Christmas.

Then it lasted only a few months? This is a new Guinness world record!

@HPP, the '3' wont be on the shirt when playing the match. I think its a lovely kit, green and black?.. last time i seen that it was on the Leeds jersey back in 97 i think.. All in all, Umbro have done another fantastic job.. really odd, but really nice
