southampton 11/12 umbro home football shirt

The wait is finally over for the unveiling of Saints' brand new home strip for the 2011/12 Championship campaign.

The slick and professional design - part of the 'Tailored by Umbro' range - marks a return to the familiar red and white stripes, which are complemented by black shorts and red socks. There is also a blend of something entirely new, with Main Club Sponsor aap3 included on the front of the shirt for the first time.

Last season's special 125th anniversary year kit, which saw the club revisit its roots with a red sash on a white shirt, became the fastest selling replica in the club's history, and the revival of a traditional Southampton strip promises to be just as in demand with nearly 1,000 supporters having already pre-ordered.

Fans will be treated to the kit's first outing this weekend when it is worn for the inaugural Memorial Cup, where Saints will be wearing not one, but two new shirts launching in time for the 2011/12 season, with the new Away kit also set to be revealed.

Well that Saints fan who posts on here has the same IQ as a monkey so it will be fitting when he wears it.

It was always going to be hard to beat last seasons kit with the sash, but this is a pretty good effort! The golden umbro logo is a nice touch :)

To all FootballShirtCulture.com readers - please be aware that not all Saints Fans are total tools. The majority of us are intelligent, urbane, interesting and humorours (we've had to be to put up with the insanity of the last 6 years on the South Coast.) Don't let the childishness of one fan ruin your image of us. Oh yeah - the Kit. Okay. Not great. Not Bad, Just Okay.

Last season's Saints shirt was a bit of a classic and that's from a Pompey fan but this new kit is awful.
If Saints new shirt had the v-neck of Sunderland's or a crew neck collar then it would have been a better strip.

Looks like a Sunderland kit from the mid 1980's. Lose the red socks Saints! Bring back the Rank Xerox look (red sleeves, white socks). Bring back Mark Dennis too, the original psycho! Danny Wallace is a legend too, what a top bloke.

I loved the kit Southampton wore last season but I guess it was always only ever going to be for a year but this is a super kit for stripes. Has a retro feel to it as well.

There are some shocking kits that teams have for red and white stripes. This is how it should be done.
