sunderland 11-12 umbro away football shirt

Sunderland have unveiled the brand new away kit for the 2011-12 Barclays Premier League season, which will be available here.

The kit features a vibrant shirt in vivid blue with a bold white chest band, highlighting the modern, clean lines synonymous with Umbro's tailored range.

This year's shirt features a round-neck and white shorts, while socks trimmed with the same vivid blue colour complete the new change strip, which will go on sale on July 1.

Direct from the Tailored by Umbro collection, the kit carries the name of the club's main sponsors, tombola.*

Defender's Titus Bramble, Phil Bardsley and Michael Turner modelled the new kit in a recent photoshoot.

Bardsley, Sunderland's player of the season, said: "I'm very impressed with the new kit, it's bright, bold and really stands out, which is just what you need on the pitch.

"It's comfortable and stylish and I think it will be very popular with our fans."

Lesley Callaghan, SAFC's marketing and commercial director, added: "The away shirt is always a popular choice with supporters for their summer holidays so we are delighted that our new change strip will launch in early July.

"As always we would urge supporters wherever possible to consider buying their shirts from official club stores as by doing so they will benefit the club and the team directly."

*In compliance with gambling legislation, baby, infant and junior-sized shirts will not carry the tombola logo.

Thanks to Dave and David

Ha! Fair point but it'd be a waste of money buying two shirts wouldn't it? Or do what the pros do and buy some Under Armour to go with it.

They chose light blue, which I think is a terrible colour for a football kit, and they pulled it off really nice! Very well done! Umbro, please do more like these kits instead of those plain 'elegant' ones for everyone!

Reminds me of the Birmingham kit from this season. Is this the new template for Umbro away shirts? Thinking white and red for Rangers away kit if it is.

BTW did Titus get a lift or the bus to the photo shoot?

I'm not so sure, would be too similar to one of the aways from just a few years ago (08-09 I think?). Red with a white or blue band I could see happening though.

it would not be un-umbro like to peddle out similar kits, red and blue stripes across shoulders and chest on a white shirt would be ok ! That or blue stripe on an orange shirt

Agreed. After getting humped again by Barca I think we should drop the white away kit for a while, not much luck with it recently. Wish Nike would come up with something a bit 'out there' for United, along the lines of Corinthians new away shirt would be nice but I think many people would not like that.

Man utd -, rooney, rio, hernandez
Arsenal - cesc, theo, jack
chelsea - lampard, cech
liverpool - stevie g, pepe, jamie c

and then there's...

sunderland - titus bramble, phil b, some other numpty.

why do you get these plebs to model their kit?
that's the most cloddish marketing move in the history of football. fact

All of these players for Sunderland played last season, Gyan on the official SAFC website with Richardson.

Rooney- Plays away from his family and is fat
Rio- Ugly and has a lame lip
Hernandez- Is a dwarf
Lapard- puff
chec- looks like a deer
Gerrard- scouser
Reina- Bald
Carragher- 50 years old

So your marketing technique is a mere 20% success rate according to me

Blue is similar to Barcelona's of 2008/09-ish.

And umbro have been churning out decent stuff for a while now.

That blue is so special!. I think its called `Tusacany Promise`s in the dark`. I once had a hat in the same shade. It was a 70`s floppy type I wore to a party held by Princess Margaret at her flat in Kensington. Ollie Reed was there and Shirley Bassey. I seem to remember Bob Monkhouse too. It was a great party. Its where I met my first husband, Gerrald Houllier.

oh yes i remember Houllier giving you a good rogering in the special blue tulip yard. many of the guests were shocked, but i find it quite entertaining to see you bent over, pants down grabbing your ankles. fun times indeed.

Nice colour, better than sunderlands previous away shirts umbro have produced.
Shame the white band looks awful on across the body, especially when aplayer sticks his arms up to celebrate?
then again, might not notice it, if its sunderland and its being worn in their away jerseys :)
