USA 2011 Nike Third Shirt Leaked

Here is what appears to be the new 2011 third kit for the U.S. national team made by Nike.

The shirt has been rumoured for some time and been demanded by some fans, now Nike have folded on the fan pressure and produced one, to be debuted against Argentina on the 26th March in New Jersey.

The shirt is exactly the same as they used at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, apart from the obvious colour change. The picture shown here is most probably a prototype of the what's to be worn on Saturday as the United States Soccer Federation are looking to change the teams motto from 'Don't Tread on Me' and the snake logo associated with this can still be seen inside the collar.

Thanks to Andrew and Brady

I really like this a lot, although I wish they would've done something different other than change the color. I would've liked to see a new design, although the new Brasil and France ones were a little lackluster.

No! I love it! I've been waiting for a red USA jersey! The country's colors are RED, white and blue! YES!

When I first saw the photo, I almost had a heart attack. But it's only a 3rd jersey, not a new home jersey. So I think it's okay. The U.S. team has been trying to get fans to wear red at games for a while now, so it'll be easier if they actually have a red shirt.

Also, I like that all of the USA jerseys in this set have the same template! It is cool to have it so straight foreward! Sems so right!

They should make red the primary, home jersey. Sam's army wears red, its more distinctive, and looks great. I also hope they keep the sash design rathe than staring over with a brand new nike template yet again.

Uh, the 2010 home AND away have this SAME template.....that's why it's lazy on Nike's part. Show me another nation that has the same exact design for 3 shirts.

Incredibly disappointing. Not to mention boring. I won't be buying.

Most of the world cup shirts, Slovenia, NZ etc had the same collar and band across the sleeves...or so I think. The USA the only one to have the sash though.

I really like this one. Kind of a modern update to the old Don't Tread on Me design from 2006 without the white part of the sash. And I don't think Nike is looking to completely eradicate the DTOM motto, it's still on the reverse of the crest on this red shirt too.

Awful for being a US Company you would think Nike could create a unique kit for the USA National Team kind of like how they make great jerseys for the Oregon College Football team. Also we need a new National Team Logo it is silly and you should only have stars if you win a world cup. How about an Eagle or something?

About RyanSSL

The stars are in the crest and not over it. The stars are as you know a symbol of great importance for the US. Plus america as quite a unique philosophy over football so it's normal that the crest doesn't have the usual look.

And since this is only a third kit the design didn't need to be changed. Just another color and that does it.

I just hope they do something awesome for next years.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Regardless of what the three stars represent I think it looks really cheap and stupid. Stars should only be on the Crest or above the Crest if you win a World Cup. That is just my opinion. I personally think Nike make the worst shirts but you would think they could do something Unique for the USA instead of just using the same template as everyone else.

If you believe stars should only be on/near the crest for winning the World Cup then I take it you think that Australia, Chile, Paraguay, Ghana, Cameroon, North Korea, and Honduras should all have to change their crests also, right?

Here's what the US Crest will look like if the US Men ever win the World Cup, and what the US Women's crests look like (notice the Stars in the Crest are part of the crest, and the ones above it represent the WC wins):

Good looking shirt. Not sure that the black and red really encapsulate the team. If anything it looks as if Nike is just putting colors together and saying "These apply to you." Would have rather the sash been white and blue.

Also, Nike bashing seems to be a fun thing on this board, but it is appropriate that Nike makes the US kit as it is a company based in Oregon.

And if you want to bash Nike, do it about things that they produce that actually are crap ie any Oregon Ducks American Football jersey (see below)

Isn't the "don't tread on me" slogan and design used by the Tea Party guys in US politics?! I can't imagine the England jersey having the BNP logo! (Don't argue that the Tea Party isn't as bad!!)

The don´t trwad on me is a much, much older slogan linked to the US(I think the south originally) If the Tea Party uses it, tough luck for the football federation.

If the BNP would use a lion in their logo(as representitive of England)would the FA step down to use it?

So beside the fact, that the BNP is a racist nationalistic movement with hardly any backing in the wider population, the Tea Party movement seems(in my local german media)neo-conservative and patriottic (BUT NOT RACIST)

Correct me fellow americans(whoever)if I am wrong.

Unfortunaltey the BNP does have some areas where they get decent support and have ended up with MPs in parliament. That said you're right in your statements on the differences between the two (I've not heard any racial comments from the Tea Party and whilst the BNP puts on a front of being tolerant have a look at the shop on their website!).

Sometimes the home and away shirts both clash with an opponent's home and away kits. Like the US playing against Argentina; the US Blue kit is different enough, but the Red is really, really different.

Of course this red kit wouldn't be necessary as a third if it had been the Away right from the beginning.

The shirt looks nice.

Normally I defend Nike, but this IS a World Cup template, and it IS just a recoulour of the current home and away. If all three shirts were released at once, it would have been ok, but now the design isn't fresh.

Following the new France kits I just would have expected more...

6.5/10 - Looks good, but not really new or exciting.

Kind of in a similar way to the world cup 94 home jersey when they had wavy vertical red and white stripes. Their jerseys for that tournament were awesome!
