Wigan Athletic 11/12 Mi-Fit Home Shirt

This is the new Wigan Athletic home shirt for the 2011/2012 English Premier League season manufactured by Mi-Fit.

The new kit will be officially unveiled for the first time when Latics take on La Liga side Villarreal in a pre-season friendly at the DW Stadium on Sunday August 7, featuring the new shirt sponsor 12BET.

Latics' Head of Marketing, Commercial and Retail, Neil Ryan said: "We are really pleased with the look and feel of this year's new home kit and we are all looking forward to the team wearing the new kitwith the new shirt sponsor 12BET, when we entertain Villarreal.

"The new kit will only be available on 7th September, due to the Club agreeing a new shirt sponsor in June, but I am sure that when our loyal fans see it, this year's launch will be a great success''.

Americans say "s h i t", not "s h i t e". And we wouldn't say "top class" either. Nice try, buddy.

I do agree about this making a good Rangers kit though

It's very nice but why can't the club decide if they want solid blue or stripes. It's like the club has no real identity as if to say - yeah that is a Wigan kit! Mind you Watford chop and change between black or red shorts and have been doing for ages.

This isn't derogatory towards Wigan at all, the club has an amazing story and history but please solid or stripes..... and where's the green trim?

You've nailed it. Look, I know there are more important things to think about in the world but here's my view.

I think the league should force clubs to describe their home colours in reasonable detail (Blue shirts//white shorts, blue and white striped shirts, blue shorts etc).

They should then be forced to apply if they want. to change those basic elements - perhaps they would need to apply through the club as well, which would include the fans.

Personally I'd like to know what colours Hull, Wigan, Coventry etc. actually wear. I think their fans might like to know too.

That way clubs would have to think whether they

To some extent I would agree with this, keeping traditional colours is important. However I think a bit of variation is good, take Hulls pinstripe kit, that was lovely.

Hypothetically if teams stuck to their original kits we would see-
Wigan in red/white halves
Leeds in blue/white stripes
Liverpool and Norwich in sky blue/white halves

Nice shirt but as a previous poster pointed out, Wigan seem to alternate between solid blue or stripes. You can probably guess that the 2012/13 kit will be stripes.

I used to love wigan when Paul Jewel was boss. Back then they had Jimmy Bullard, Jason Roberts , Graham Kavanagh, and Pascal Chimbonda.... Thay had blue and white stripes back then and i liked it. This kit is good but i dont like it as much!

I really like this kit if I'm honest.

But how can people complain about the variation from stripes? Most people have been complaining that other teams kits are too similar to last seasons... So good on Latics for throwing something different out there!

Heard the away kit is yellow though

I think it's good how teams like Wigan hull and even bayern Munich change between stripes and a solid colour I think it gives variation due to the fact there's a home shirt every season as we are starting to see with the likes of real madrid and man utd you can only do soo much with a shirt but by the way Im not saying madrid should wear stripes but we try new things or even bring back the rule of a home shirt every 2 seasons

hmm that is a really nice kit from wigan.

though there home shirt changes too much to ever make them recognisable, somtimes they have strips somtimes no strips, what is there propper home shirt.

The thing is this is how our kits looked for the most of our history minus the Red and White halves before the war. Also our stripes only really started happening when we were promoted to the premiership. I am sick of people actually saying we have lost our identity when this is what we had in the first place. Stripes made us lose our identity. however stripes were good because we were the only team in prem with blue and white stripes. This isn't a copy of anybody else's shirts except our own from 1984-1985 .

Yeah we may have either a white, navy blue or yellow goldy looking away kit. Not sure yet but it looks as though we might have a third kit which will be yellow/gold.

Umbro's Ireland kit, and subsequent kits last year fostered a blast-from-the-past revolution. Interesting that so many other companies (Adidas, the Japanese arcade techno dance-dance revolution-sounding name Mi-Fit) are following suit. This kit does look good.
