England EURO 2012 Umbro Home Football Shirt

england euro 2012 umbro home football shirt

This is the new England 2012 home shirt, which will be available here and worn by the senior squad for the first time next week as they take on Holland at Wembley, and the U21s as they face Belgium.

So what’s so special about it? Here’s some insight into the new England home shirt, Tailored by Umbro. First of all, this is the first time ever that the England shirt has been purely red and white. That’s tied into the main inspiration behind the new England shirt – that most symbolic notion of Englishness, the St. George’s flag. The red and white of the English flag are the key components of the new home shirt, with the red England crest proudly embroidered on the chest, alongside the iconic Umbro double diamond.

Probably the most eye-catching part of the new England home shirt is the collar. Featuring a smart, one button fastener, the collar is inspired by the look of a traditional shirt. With the collar down, players and fans will have a subtle dash of red along the top, recalling the flag of England’s patron saint. Under the collar, a more detailed stripe is revealed, which has been inspired by Sir Alf Ramsey’s iconic 1966 jacket and the St George’s flag, developed by Umbro into this tonal red design.

Technically, the new shirt is crafted from a cotton/polyester blended material, which offers terrific comfort, movement and fit. The shirt also features front body darting and a lowered back hem, giving fans and players a better fit and a smarter look, whether you’re playing or watching the game.

It’s a smart new look for England as they look forward to this summer’s big tournament, inspired by the most iconic symbol of Englishness there is – the St. George’s flag. The new shirt will on sale from February 29th.

You can pre-order it here

England always had White shirt, navy shorts and white socks. Not fucking white shorts!! It looks really girly with pink and red trim. Fucking GAYest kit ever!!

England colours are white with red, I think its good to see for the first time in a long time our actual colours on our kit without anybody elses colours with it. How they play is nothing at all to do with the kit!

The away kit is a diifferent story....blue!...Blue is not an England colour!

Without the blue lions, this looks like one of those "special edition" tonal ones that Umbro makes. Needs more than red. It just doesn't look right. Could've been a great kit too

England have traditionally been white & blue, just because the fag is white & red doesn't mean the shirt does. This shirt is awful, Umbro are mugging us off, the Holland & Belgium games should have supporters turn up in old shirts, not this new sh!t. Bring back Admiral.

It is difficult for Umbro to win, the last one had all those pretty little multi-coloured crosses on the back to symbolise our enforced "multi-cultralism", but now they have done the reverse and gone for the colours of our national flag, which is what I thought people wanted after the last PC effort.

I like it, no blue, red and white, England.

Umbro have let themselves down - NOT due to the shirt design, I think as shirts go it's VERY nice, and the red and White are classy together, very crisp, using the St Georges colours - great mainly all white feel (ala Madrid) - a good thought

BUT - and this is the worst bit - WE DONT NEED IT! You just released an awesome kit when people are sick to the back teeth of you ripping everyone off. The FA are making mugs of you - though you reap the benefits of course. Shame.

we want Navy shorts for god sake! this is almost identical to the kit we wore in the 2010 World Cup this just reminds me of the failure we were that year...sure this is better than the last kit with the awful choice of blue, but seriously this would be 100times better with the tradional coloured Lions badge and navy shorts. also a star should always be gold.

If that blue and white hooped number in the background is the new QPR shirt for next season then they've done a lot better than England have with this bit of tosh. I know England will never stray from Umbro but I keep imagining the template possibilities of an Adidas design.

from what I gather, if that other shirt IS the QPR shirt he may have been there for that purpose in the first place, perhaps the England one was there was well, going by what he posted on Twitter I think maybe he just wanted to leak it. let's face it, he has no other reason to be near an England shirt.

That QPR top in the background looks more like a replica of the kit they wore in their mid 70's hey-day of Bowles, Marsh and Francis. I'm sure it is.

apart from the collar the last 3 england shirts are exactly the same plain white. the badge is awful it should never be red only blue, all this flag colours piss me off only the england rugby team has a red badge the cricket and football teams only have blue badges, even then the traditional rugby kit is all white with navy socks. you wouldn't see arsenal with a navy badge on there home shirt or Spurs with a red Cockrel.

i don't know why umbro didn't use the white with the navy and red chevron from there teamware for the england kit that would have been great.

BRING BACK NAVY SHORTS. people at work think it's a welsh away kit.

least the away kit is nice

I thought the last shirt and the plain polo shirt before it were the worst kits we've ever had so was expecting something a little more stand out this time, looks like a pointless special edition shirt to me,oh how i long for the 90s styles to return and this Peter Saville designed crap to dissappear,oh well, give it a year and jd will have this going for under a tenner, still wont be getting it though.

Second home kit in a row I won't be buying. Not keen on the colour change, but the kit would still be average if it wasn't for that stupid looking collar. It's time for Umbro to bring this "Tailored" range to an end, it's long since gotten old and the kits are hit and miss, much more so the latter.

I like the logic of using the flag as the inspiration for the colours. Maybe Italy should change their flag to blue and white

I don't like the collar either - or how the shorts and socks don't quite match the top.

But I think it'll look nice and fresh... at least until the team actually start playing in it.

Then it'll look as lumbering and laboured as every kit these losers put on.

Save your energy. If England can't beat USA, Algeria and Slovenia, they're hardly going to trouble France, Sweden and the hosts.

We'll then hear that these shirts were just for the tournament and England will probably revert to a traditional white and navy get up in September.

They'll call it a new start.

:D

Hahahahaha Joey Barton - what an absolute muppet! He's not even fit to be in the same room as an england shirt! This is the closest to an England shirt he'll ever get (apart from those 15 minutes he played in a friendly 5 years ago!)

Joey Barton's honours list : 0 leagues, 0 f.a cups, 0 league cups. 1 Coca cola championship winners medal, 1 england cap.
In a nutshell : sweet naff all!

As for the kit, nice and clean cut. The waz man loves it!!! ;-) Although i am questioning whether england need 2 new kits in 2 years??????

It's not bad but it's unusual of an England kit to have red as a secondary colour, it's normally blue.

And what's with the red star? Are the FA communist sympathisers now??

Dont know what all the fusss about them changing the kit is, no one's forcing people to buy it, if you dont like them changing the kit then dont buy it simple as that.
dont like the collar but otherwise a clean, stylish, smart kit. Its nice to see a kit that actually represents the colours of our flag for once

Obvious what has happened here; the last shirt went down like a lead balloon because of all those awful silly little multicolored St George’s crosses, so they’re now giving us the red and white St George’s edition. Only in doing that they’ve made a mess of it again because they haven’t messed about with the flag this time but have made a mess of the badge. Silly of them to have messed about with the flag last time around and silly of them to have messed about with the badge this time around. The lions on the England badge are blue, why oh why would you mess about with over hundred years history and tradition and change that?!!? Fine for some limited edition leisure shirt (if you must) but not the playing kit. Another shocker from Umbro, I really have no idea what these people are thinking. Do they every look to gauge the opinion of fans before they release these awful, awful shirts?

It's basically the exact same as before but with red details instead of blue! another poor effort for the England kits. It's like Umbro aren't trying anymore! More money wasted...

what the hell is this load of rubbish? What happended to the proud white and navy blue kits we used to have. What on Earth is a red and white England badge on the home shirt. We have just had the best home kit since 1990. Umbro should be shot and for the first time I really want a new kit supplier to take over the England contract. Disgusted and let down.

england need to add a bit more flavour to the kits, like gold dots on the kit, the dots could start at the bottom and raise up but as it raises up the dots would fade away

Nasty kit. Would've looked oodles better if the three lions were usual blue and the shorts were navy. It could've been so much better. Should've been a winner. White-red-white is Poland and as for that red star above the badge, it looks like Umbro are celebrating that European Cup win for the fine, free-flowing Red Star Belgrade side back in 1991!

It's ok, but I reckon we'll see lots of 18 year olds walking around with the buttons done up to the top. I reckon this stupid fad/fashion is part of the reason for the way they've designed this shirt. Tailored by Umbro, for teenagers who like to walk around looking like bellends.
