Philadelphia Union 2012 adidas home away football shirt

Philadelphia Union unveiled new home and away football shirts in advance of the 2012 season.

MLS teams have the option to change uniforms in two-year intervals. The two new jerseys will be the fourth and fifth versions for the Union, as the club debuted a white third jersey last year, in addition to their original blue and gold jerseys. The third jersey will remain the same in 2012.

The new home shirt is inspired by the club's first home shirt, maintaining a navy blue base with a gold center stripe. The new version features thicker signal blue piping, as well as a center stripe that extends to the collar and narrows as it reaches the bottom.

The new away shirt is a complete variation from the original gold secondary jersey, featuring a signal blue base and a white center stripe flanked by gold piping.

Authentic, replica and youth jerseys are available for purchase exclusively in the club's online shop. Replica jerseys are currently available for shipment, while authentic and youth jerseys are due to ship in early 2012.

it's getting downright brutal, like 8 nike euro kits where leaked almost two weeks ago, and all this site has got is 2 of them (USA and Holland), and they dont even have good pictures at that

Based on the shirt's layout stance, even without a model, real or not, it still truly reflects its sponsor's title.

Bimbo (Beem-bo) is a bakery. As a supporter I just have a hard time with them. Especially the away being another shade of blue.

The away looks like the old Power Rangers costumes I used to wear when I was 5. Absolutely horrible. The home is fine, just and update on the current home. But man is that away just ugly as sin.

We have a 3rd Jersey which is all white. The Navy jersey is for home games, the Signal Blue is for away games where the home team wears dark/red etc., and the White jersey is for away games where we need white. Just for the record, too, FCD have 2 white jerseys, 1 has blue hoops the other red hoops. They're very similar too. It's a way to include every color. As for the Bimbo, it's pronounced "BEEMBO" and is a bakery which makes the vast majority of bread throughout North & Central America. But that's a big word for a Red Bulls fan. Stick with "suck" and "no cups" for now.

Yeah I knew about the Bimbo thing but... it looks bad on every team they sponsor... you have to admit these are decent looking kits but Bimbo cheapens them badly. It takes a nice looking kit and makes it look like an adidas shirt with a Bimbo bumper sticker on it.

The away kit is not the same color nor is it even royal blue. Those two photos do not do it justice. Mind you it is the same exact template as the home (more a third kit than a away) but a much lighter blue not Man City sky blue but a tad darker. You see this in the video the union posted but got taken down that there is a clear difference although minimal.

Well first off you have adidas (germans) to thank, not Americans. Although mls would settle for a lazy mickey mouse design like this. Frankly I didn't notice union got a new design with this kit. I can't wait for adidas to get out of mls so clubs cab go back to signing their own kit deals like real clubs

They're not necessarily "home" and "away", even though it says that. It's more like primary & secondary - primary being the home jersey & for road games where the host wears white, and the 2ndary being for road games where the host wears dark or red. There is a 3rd white jersey to.

Adidas mess in the league [censored] up when the make adidas the official band a the league ...there is not top league in the world where only one brand makes all the team jersey, if they had let it the way let when the league just start out MLS would had some real nice kit .it would of open brands like...puma, Nick , Umbra all the other brands ...now the league stuck with adidas and they are running out of idea and style ..they should open the league to other i wish adidas contract with the league was goin to be up this comin season ..but that seem like its not gonna happen any soon, that reason why i don't ownd a MLS team jesersy adidas i just don't like design for MLS ....

Deco,

Could you please translate what you wrote into English?

There is nothing wrong with the adidas shirts in MLS. Most are actually quite nice.

Besides, Nike, Puma, Reebok, Umbro, etc., have all lost their creativity and sense of style. Adidas is still the top brand, and the nicest style.

i can tell youre on adidas payroll. while i do agree reebok is a bit bland (thats why A-league did the right thing and not renewing that deal instead choosing to let clubs handle their kit deals. its a one up from MLS socialism) Nike Puma and Umbro would be incredible in MLS. they havent lost their creativity at all. if anything Adidas cant come up with one decent design. yea their 3 lines is timeless but the designs that go with it (see the bland kits for Union) are blech. Nike would be great for Portland as its their home club. Umbro would be great for VWFC, LAG and DC United although DC United history is one with adidas. Puma with their templates used for the African countries would be super for Sounders or Sj Earthquakes. You have to admit, some diversity in brand names would be great. having Adidas run the show makes everything bland and boring, no matter how unique they make their kits for each "club"

Do Dat - couldn't agree more. At first I think MLS wanted the kits to look uniform and just deal with Adidas so the league could grow without dealing with competition and such. The league is now very stable and could afford a little outside competition, and using different kit designers may actually bring in more revenue for individual teams as "neutral" fans or foreign-based fans may buy Nike jerseys because their home club has them. I like Adidas, but that has a lot to do with the fact that they're the only kit maker. I wear Puma shoes when I play . . .

The home kit is navy blue and gold and the away kit is a baby blue and white. They are not as close as these crappy pictures make them seem. There was a video on the Union's website that better displayed what these kits looked like.

Anyway, the home kit is more of the same but I love the away kit. I can't believe it's getting a lot of flack on here. Most Union supporters were dying for them to use more of the baby blue color in the kits. I wanted this from day one actually. And baby blue is the main color for the main supporters group the Sons of Ben.

Just trying to educate some ignorant people on here.

the kit is ugly. wit would be acceptable however if it were so much kit clashing. the two kits have almost the exact shade of blue the only contrasting thing is that white strip down the middle which renders ineffective if they play a predominat blue club. this kit in terms of kit clashing is almost as bad as that one year where Chivas USA had a white on red home kit and a red on white away kit. wtf? plus i hate how almost every club in MLS uses white as their away kit even though white is not in their official colours. plus the way Adidas designed the away kit, blue white and gold isnt a pretty combination. the home kits is alright, not something to write home about but still the away kit reminds me of power rangers.

There's a 3rd white kit, which some people have mentioned above. The 2ndary Signal Blue/White kit could be used in places like Toronto (Red), San Jose (sometimes Black), Seattle (Green), DC if they wear their red kits, Chivas (Red/White), etc. where a blue kit could be used, or for occasional home matches. The white 3rd Kit would be used elsewhere. This is basically our primary kit & an alternate kit.

sometimes people seem to forget that this is in fact a football 'shirt' website! it's not about the team or their league... it's about the quality of the kits and in my mind these are great Union kits! much more creativity than last years and they looked much better in the actual photoshoot! it's exactly what many Union fans wanted and have waiting for for a while!!! and stop slagging off the MLS... I bet half the haters on here have never even watched a match or know how the system works! so stop being ignorant and respect the league, all the clubs and most importantly, all the fans...

Kyle, Im an American. ive watch MLS, ive watch the post season this year, ive watched the MLS cup final. i am very very knowledgable in MLS and its "system". and i can honsestly tell you, i have absolutley no respect for MLS, the so called clubs which arent even clubs theyre franchises, and fans. well maybe ill give the fans credit for trying. MLS force fed parity makes the league boring and pathetic although it does raise competitoin, still its mediocre. its basically two identical teams murdering each other for a 1-0 1-1 or 2-2 game. there is no consistancy in MLS except for Galaxy this year which i applaud. the salary cap is exremely extremely low. you may say its cuz owners are not making money. listen MLs owners own SUM and that thing is making money like gangbusters. Owners use MLS books to report losses so when its CBA time they can say they dont have much to offer because SUM is a seperate entity. Players dont get the same rights as most league Europe, Asia and South America, bascially any FIFA sanctioned league gets. Players are traded without their consent, underpaid and do not sign with the "club" they sign with the league. they literally put a cap on quality. they cannot compete in CCL (yea RSL made the final but they had a easy road with Columbus crew as their first game). they fail to bring in top talent and keep their already talented players. from a business side yea, MLS is doing good. expansion, tv deals, etc but can we honestly say its a true league? no. as FIFPro puts it MLS is a cartel. so whether a person is educated in MLS or a ignorant person, they are correct in not giving MLS respect at all.

and i dont even begin to mention MLS stupid playoff stucture that guarantees the best two clubs never ever face each other in the finals. this year a unbalance schedule is placed to facilitate "local rivalries". do you really want to water down rivalries, if there is any LEGIT rivalries, that bad? they want to squeeze as much money as they can from these "heated" games to impress their NBC overlords who demand ratings for their dollar. i can predict MLS will turn into the jersey shore trying to do everything they can to spice up the league, to make it more entertaining by creating fake rivalries, fake "clubs" and showcaseing the fans as much as they can to get ratings. what happened to a league where the best club wins and thats it? where history dicates the rivalries, not a corporate board of directors? where club strength is dicated by how well a club manages themselves instead of having the league transfer players to certain clubs and hire specific people for that club. like i said i have no respect for MLS at all. and before anyone calls me a Eurosnob hater, i dont even watch EPL or any euro league, i watch south american soccer. Copa libertadores and Copa Sudamericana for me

Yo lemme get dis straight. So u wuld prefer a league wit no rivalries (no matter how contrived) and boring play? u wuld prefer a league where 1 or 2 teams always win da league every year? you would prefer a league where if u jus happen to be a fan of a mediocre team, da bess u culd hope for, absolute bess, is like 6 or 7 cause u cant compete wit da big clubs? Salary cap so legit even europe been discussin it (albeit in a limited context). An 4 someone who claim 2 have watch all dis MLS u mustve miss when LA won cause dey were far an away da bess team. Also, how u expect in dis modern day to get on EPL or La Liga level if u aint makin money from da get go?

first off, please take a grammar class. your english reflects your intelligence level. and let me correct your ill will ignorance. first off i never said i was against rivalries. but IMO apart from la vs dc and sounders vs timbers there are no LEGIT rivalries. most if not all rivalries are manufactured by MLS. there are no rivalries that have naturally grown. manufactured rivalries is what im against, not rivalries as a whole you dunce. second did you even read my argument? boring play is exactly what is plagueing MLS and therefore is exactly what im against. how can i prefer a league with boring play if the exact thing im against is boring play? and a Salary cap is a mixed thing for me, i never said i was against it. If we had a actual working Playoff system then there shouldnt be any salary cap because all the parity you need is in the playoffs. if we switched to single table then there should be a limited context salary cap so clubs can have autonomy and liberty to buy and play the best players but be on a level playing field at the beginning of every season. and a applaud LAG for winning the Supporters shield which is mls true championship but due to MLS stupidity the best team never wins the mls cup. and did you even see my SUM argument? OWNERS ARE MAKING MONEY THEY JUST DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW!!!!!!! change your name from dad dude to dat dumbass

Rivalries have a tough time growing on their own if the league isnt even 20 years old with like half the teams under 12 years old. Patience mi amigo. Eventually these fake rivalries set up by the league will turn into legitimate rivalries that your kids watch, because they wont remember when it was Philly's first year and ESPN was already billing the slugfest between them and RBNY. Just planting the seed now, so it will grow.

Do dat,

The word that follows a full stop(or period in American talk) should be capitalised . You've refrained from doing this in several posts.

People may take you more seriously if you used this form of fundamental grammar in the future.

Oxford English Dictionary will help you further. Good luck!

So if Philly ever play a team in dark shade of blue and white, they're buggered for a distinguishable kit!
