Rangers 12/13 Home Umbro Football Shirt

rangers 12/13 home umbro football shirt

Rangers legend Sandy Jardine and young star Rhys McCabe have unveiled the new home kit for Season 2012/13 which is available here. The new kit celebrates the 1972 Cup Winners' Cup Final victory and Rangers' 140th anniversary.

May 24, 1972 - almost 100 years to the day the Club was founded - was a hot, tense night in Barcelona when the Rangers spirit conquered Europe with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Moscow Dynamo at the Nou Camp.

Forty years later the Rangers spirit lives on and the Club has launched a commemorative home top that will certainly capture the imagination of supporters worldwide.

Buy Football t-shirts at footytees.com - New shirts every week

The top pays homage to the shirt worn four decades ago by legends like John Greig, Sandy Jardine, Colin Stein, Willie Johnston and Derek Johnstone. And it brings back the distinctive red and white socks Rangers wore during that incredible European adventure.

Main club sponsor Tennent's Lager has kindly agreed to change its branding on the home shirt to help mark these significant anniversaries in Rangers' history. The Tennent's logo will now appear below the Club crest on the left breast of the shirt rather than across the chest as in previous seasons.

Steve Annand, Commercial Managing Director for Tennent Caledonian Breweries, said: "When we were approached by Rangers with regards their anniversary season we discussed the new kit design and wanted to play our part to help create what will become a truly classic Rangers shirt, and we feel we have achieved this in a positive way.

"The kit design is based on the strip worn on the famous night in Barcelona back in 1972 and we feel our branding fits this perfectly"

The new 2012/13 Rangers Home kit will be worn for the first time by the team at the friendly with Linfield at Windsor Park on Monday 7 May and the shirt features a bigger Rangers scroll crest with the 5 stars now running vertical at the side of the top.

The Adult short sleeve shirt, available in sizes S-5XL, is £39.99 and the Junior short sleeve shirt, available in SB - XLB, is £29.99.

Rangers Manager Ally McCoist said: "Our supporters always look forward to the latest Rangers kit being unveiled and I am sure next season's home strip will have special meaning to our fans as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our Cup Winners' Cup victory in Barcelona and the Club's 140th anniversary.

"Next season's strip pays tribute to the shirt worn in Barcelona in 1972. Tennent's have been investing in the Scottish game for almost 40 years and know what both these special anniversaries mean to Rangers.

"I'd like to thank them for working with us to design this distinctive, commemorative strip that is sure to be worn with pride by all our supporters. Our fans have been with us for 140 years and they will be with us for another 140 years."

Rangers legend Sandy Jardine said: "The new kit is designed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Barcelona 1972, which is one of the Clubs' greatest ever achievements.

"It was an honour and privilege to be part of the team that won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 and the strip worn at the Nou Camp has become the most iconic in the Club's history.

"The strip for 2012/13 will undoubtedly capture the imagination of our supporters as we celebrate Barcelona 72 and our 140th anniversary."

The kit is available to pre-order online here.

An honest question: why do the Old firm kits always have a "similar" feel about them every year? Is there some sort of mutual agreement between the two?

Umbro is owned by Nike so there may be some discussion on commonality based around design vs the size and placement of the sponsor. Only so many ways to do green/white hoops or blue shirts

great to see a real kit being designed. Theres usually too much emphasis on the sponsor and club badges seem to get smaller every year. I hate being a 'walking advertisement' for the sponsor and rarely buy kits anymore. I wish every kit had this classical styling

Why shoul he or anybody, we were too busy playing football and winning trophy after trophy. Jock Stein is a Celtic and Scotland legend and had more decency in his left foot that the whole Rangers masonic baxtards that cheat the country, football and bring our game into direpute.

Rott in Division 3 , go bust and get ALL titles stripped of. You deserve it. Tax evaders, hooligans, Loaylist numpties and wannabe-proddies who don´t go to church.

Rangers 1873 - 2012 that is the bottom line.

Punished for cheating scotland and betraying the whole country. Slaves of the Queen you are!!!!!!!!!!

Umbro have completely ran out of ideas, its just a blue shirt with a Rangers and Tennent's logo on it, no design elements there whatsoever.

It is supposed to be an homage to the 72 kit when they played in the Cup Winners Cup final. Actually it is essentially the 76-78 kit which was the first with the Umbro diamond on the right breast. Get it without the sponsor and it is the 76 kit in most every way

support your club but using sites like this to moan about mccoist or lennon is just beyond pathetic

grow up and just enjoy the game , every dog has their day rangers were on top for a bit let celtic have their moment and it would be nice if we can all just move on from the last 2 years of nonsence from both halves of the old firm

Your turd of a club is the target at the moment though, it's about to die, and I love it. Locked gates, fatties crying into their XXXXXXXXL Tents - love it

Don't follow Scottish football but to predict winning the league for the next 10 years is quite arrogant and to be honest quite hard to call.

I actually like this shirt and think it is a great idea the sponsors have moved and reduced their logo. Would like to see more teams do this.

Rangers need to be sold to Tow Truckin' Bill Miller. He's filthy rich and has got the resources to get them out of this jam.

A tad premature, this team will either not exist or be in the 3rd division if they are lucky. :D

Not sure what the fuss is about these retro styles- they're available to buy elsewhere if you want one.

This is just plain boring and dull. 3/10

Actually, if they go out of business and go into liquidation, then Rangers FC will only have 139 years - making this shirt meaningless.

FC of Rangers will be a newco and have zero history. So if newco start the season 2012/13 then all of old Rangers' history will be lost. Along with their trophies and their fans.

the collar on the one that jardine is wearing is much nicer than the collar on the current one.......

all they had to do (as with all retro kits) is get the FUCKING collar right and they FAILED well done umbro, you've made a tribute to the 72 shirt look worse than the actual shirt made 40 years ago before you could get a job as a football designer and go to uni to gain a degree in fashion!

Bravo....... lol

Why do so many celtic fans care about what shirt Rangers are bringing out? celtic fans seem to be more interested in what us Rangers fans do and say than anything to do with there club, do us all a favour and go away!

Some rubbish being talked here by small minded idiots. I dont support any team in scottish football but i know plenty of people who support rangers and who support celtic for the right reasons, not because of the colours they fly like some bigots on here. Thats scottish footballs biggest problem and in my opinion a lot of people need to wise up. One thing I am aware of is that Glasow Rangers are not one of the most but 'the most' successful club in scottish football, and thats fact. To all the people that may joke and jibe about the mess Rangers are in and may even hope they disappear, another fact is scottish football needs Glasgow Rangers and without them it will have serious consequences to scottish football. ;-)

Love classic looking football kits. Teams like Arsenal and Barcelona try to modernise their kits and end up ruining them.

Fat peasant Sally Mickmoist and his vagabond ragtag penniless old club r long gone. They could not afford to pay the queen the money they owe her, even tho ironically, they sing her praises every week.... :P

So it's god save the queen for the vagabonds but only as long as they don't have to pay her the taxes shes due... :D

So the queen has sent in her hitmen (H.M.R.C) (Her Majestys Roman Catholics) to finish off the job of ridding Scotland of the hun vagabond gypsylike plague that r the old rangers.... :-*

Her majesty, i know for a fact ,thanks David Murray profusely for his great leadership in bringing this penniless tax dodging shame of scotland to heel. And selling to agents Green+Whyte was visionary and deserves at least another knighthood asap.

The futures bright , the futures Green+Whyte.... 8)

Like the kit. But just wanted to comment on the Celtic fans taking such pleasure in Rangers going down/away; I'm a Celtic fan and have to say that there's a part of me that is saddened about Rangers demise. Think about it, next year there'll be no Old Firm derby to look forward to, the intensity and the passion that you just don't get with the other teams in the SPL. I've got a feeling we'll miss em when they're gone.

Really nice kit and I agree the SPL will be a sad place not having them there. I only hope that other clubs around realise that there is a price to pay for poor financial management - and that most of all, the fans, life long fans, are the ones who suffer. Not the come and go directors. Good luck Rangers, I hope you rise from this a better club. Know that your fans will be there.

Yet again the septic fans are more interested in The Famous Glasgow Rangers than there own team. I have to laugh at the bitter hatred they have, clearly they hate us more than they love there own mob. Actually taking the time to come on a page about the new Rangers strip and leaving stupid comments shows these people are demented and really should seek medical help. :D
