Ajax 12/13 Adidas Home Football Shirt

Ajax and adidas presented the Ajax home shirt for the season 2012-2013, which will be available here.

The home shirt has three notable features. It's the first Ajax home shirt embroidered with three golden stars. In the neck, the three St. Andrew's crosses are visible, in reference to the roots of the Amsterdam club. The old Ajax logo which was from 1928 to 1990 is incorporated in the red part of the shirt.

Frank Baster, Head of Marketing adidas: 'Like every year we have worked very closely with Ajax for the design of the shirt. The Ajax home shirt is a special shirt for that matter, especially in comparison with the shirts of other club teams, including internationally. This year we surprise fans with the St. Andrew's crosses in the neck and the old logo as a watermark in the red lane."

Apart from the badge (which is pretty unpopular with the fans and they have been calling for the reintroduction of the Pre 1990 one), this is pretty much standard Ajax. Like the watermark of the old logo on the shirt.

No it's not the same. Last year the beam was too wide and in the Eredivisie (competition) the beam was colored a strange kind of red (bit shiny or something).

I wonder why Ajax bother releasing a new home jersey every season, it's always the same barring a logo change or a collar.

True...

... the Feyenoord kit this year looks nice.

But this is a good effort of Adidas:
- 3 embroidered golden stars;
- Amsterdam flag in the neck;
- watermark of the old logo.

I am gonna buy it this year.

Greetings H

Ajax kits haven't been the same since the stopped doing the vertical sponsor. Also would prefer the three stripes to go right down the sleeve.

pretty standard Ajax

Adidas paid Ajax a hefty sum to be able to supply kits, IIRC it runs for at least another six years, and is the biggest in Dutch history.

In return, Ajax had to accept the spaghetti on her shirt, something the fans are not too pleased with over the past season.

As for this kit, standard fare; watermark isn't too clearly visible, though.

To all the commentators here:

... yes, the Ajax jersey looks the same every year... and I hope they will never change it.

White shirt, red beam that's Ajax.

A good effort by Adidas but not the perfect shirt (old logo under the stars, smaller beam and no stripes on the shoulders).

... but can't wait to buy it,

H

I think it's a lovely jersey myself, I just have a problem with them releasing the same thing every year with minor negligible changes. It doesn't need that. Every two years is much better for everyone.

It's a classic shirt. Not much you can change. But the red banner is getting smaller below. That looks awful. But the whiteredwhite is unique and something to be proud of. The entire club is something to be proud of

I agree with having the same basic template for a team caked in history (like Ajax) but I think that if they are going to have the same design, they should only bring out a new home kit every two or three seasons

looks the same as the last kit and the one before that...and the one before that and so on and so on, but to be honest its a nice kit and if it ain't broke don't fix it (something i think is lost with some other teams) HOWEVER i do think that the kit lost some of its iconic status when they lost the vertical abn-amro sponsor which really set it apart forom others 7/10

This could be any Ajax kit from at least the last ten years.

Time to do something a bit different. Look at Barca, the biggest club in the world and we all think of them in stripes. They've changed their shirt a bit this year and it looks quality. That design on an Ajax shirt would be different but would be a slight twist to a traditional shirt.

Some people just don't know tradition. Are you like this when Real Madrid releases another white shirt, or if Manchester United releases another red one? Ajax is a club of tradition.

Manchester United have gone from a red shirt to a red shirt with a gingham patterned red shirt, Barca from block striped shirts to a faded stripe shirt, Southampton from stripes to a predominantly red shirt, Cardiff from blue to red.

Ajax and Adidas are exploiting fans for every penny they can get by changing the most minor detail to their shirt.

Shame the dutch players are big girls and hate each other so mutch. They could have done well in the euro's but their egos, lack of defined calf muscles - due to the flat lands, result in a poor squad mentality and a smoke and a pancake.
