Nike unveiled the new Australia 2012/2013 Away football shirt, which will be available here.
Australia’s new away kit celebrates the vibrancy, youthful energy and modern approach of both their nation and football team.
In line with Nike’s commitment to superior athletic performance and lower environmental impact, the fabric of the new kit’s shorts is made with 100% recycled polyester, while the fabric of the shirts is made with at least 96% recycled polyester. Each kit is made using an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles.
The fabric is also up to 23% lighter than the version four years ago. Embedded with Nike Dri-FIT technology, the kits help to regulate players temperatures on the pitch by removing sweat from the body to keep them dry and cool faster than ever before.
Laser-cut ventilation on the shirt promotes localised cooling where athletes need it most to remain focused on the game.
A new double knit structure and yarns also makes this kit 20% stronger, with no compromise to fit and feel with natural cotton added for comfort.
The new Australia away shirt has an obsidian blue body with a new and bold yellow stripe along the entire left side, which runs through the national coat of arms, and reflects both the nation’s modernity, and the contrasting and bright light of the vast Australian landscapes.
On the right sleeve is a smaller yellow stripe, which completes the stripe on the body of the shirt, while inside the neck is the Football Federation Australia badge.
The new away shorts are obsidian blue, while the new away socks, now with improved cushioning for greater comfort, are also obsidian blue with "Australia" on the back of each calf.

Personally I prefer the 2010 strip which I happen to own. The addition of royal blue was a stroke of genius in my view.
I think you'll find the replica kits logos will be the same heat transfer process as the players shirts. Have been for the last few kits. Only difference is the replica's use the FFA badge instead of the coat of arms which annoys the crap out of me.
Also correct about FFA badge - I have the 2010 version and I know there is a legal issue about the coat of arms being on replica shirts. I wish we had some other logo we could use.

The 2010 kit was embroidered... It was the kit before that was heat transferred. This was also when the badge changed. They used to have the coat of arms with a football on the states shield on the replica.
If you look at the Wallabies replica shirt there's a rugby ball in the same spot too.
They changed that for the 2010 kit. If you check the link for the nikestore, you will see the REPLICA badge for the Socceroos jerseys. It is a Coat of arms with the FFA swirl football between the Kanga & Emu.
Adidas Formotion shirts have been using heat-transfered 3 stripe logos down the shoulders and sleeves, as well as heat transfered Adidas logo on the front for ages.
They've recently changed to heat transfered club badges as well.
Are they cheap too, considering they're giving up embroidery for a higher-performance design?
About this particular kit, I think the yellow stripe shouldn't have been broken. Don't understand the yellow thing on the right sleeve also.
It is not worth what adidas has produced for the Greek team for example.
So how is Adidas any better or less boring?
Try comparing Liverpool's kit, Bayern Munich's kit, Argentina, AC Milan etc.
You'll be surprised at the number of similarities between those kits.
Not only. On the Greece kit for example, they added a blue cross that makes it unique, it's not only the colours.

And I'm not saying adidas is better than Nike or things like that. adidas can also poduce random kits (Finland for ex).
I'm just saying that most of the recent Nike kits have no identity : same cut, same collar (crew neck for everybody), same materials. Boring.
I'll agree that the yellow stripe doesn't particularly identify this shirt as Aussie over Sweden, but it is different from the other Nike away shirts we've seen thus far; Netherlands, South Korea, the US (holy hell that one is awful), Turkey, Portugal, and on and on and on.
The identity within the kit may not always scream that country's name but at least they're making them different.
Fact is, most people (on footballshirtculture especially) think that Adidas makes "better" and "classier" kits, which is not really the case.
What I do find funny though is the amount of people (once again, on footballshirtculture) claiming Adidas to be "unique" and "special" when they pull off some crazy garish design. If it's Nike pulling of something of a similar nature, it's "ugly", "overdone", "busy" etc.
Same goes with more primitive and basic designs. If it was done by Adidas, it's "classy", "clean", "smart" etc. If it was Nike, it's "boring", "plain", "generic", etc.
For the record, before you go on accusing me of bias I do own a couple of Formotion shirts and Nike player issue (Code 7? Do they still call them that?) shirts.

Gold is a metalic element and therefore a metalic colour - NOT something that has been worn for a longstanding period of time by any team or nation claiming 'Gold' as a colour. Sorry to correct you - and no doubt you will take it as a slight. Not that it is meant as one. Material production of the modern era has allowed 'Gold' to be seen as Gold. Get your facts correct and use some contect before logging onto chat sites with an argumentative streak in you.
It is not new. Just look up high res pictures of the kits worn by Man Utd, Juventus, Inter Milan etc when the players are celebrating with raised hands or images of the training kits.

Actually if anyone remembers Nike's Alpha Project, the dots were actually an integral part of oven the logo.
I have a Portugal Home Euro 2000 shirt and the makers logo had dots on it.

Would have thought that a company such as NIKE with it's tradition and long lasting legacy on football shirt production for some of the most iconic teams and strips out there would have given Arsenal (for example) an embroidered and properly polished off 125 year anniversary badge, in all honesty, i understand about the player issue badge thing, but the fans don't need to worry about that, so give us the real deal, not a piece of plastic that'll probably fall off in 2 years time and leave us all with a plain looking over-priced tshirt that used to be a recognisable football shirt!
