Barcelona 12/13 Nike Home Football Shirt

barcelona 12/13 nike home football shirt

Barcelona's new home and away kits fuse together club tradition with a modern and creative expression to give the team an exciting new look for the 2012 – 13 season.  Combining performance innovation with low environmental impact each kit (shirt and shorts) is made using up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles, and available here.

Barcelona’s new home kit sees the famous blue and red stripes fused together to give the shirt a bold new look.

For years the club has taken the best of its homegrown talent (the cantera) and fused those young stars with the world’s finest players, giving the team a mixture of youthfulness, tradition and creativity - all qualities that inspire the new kit.

The red crew neck collar gives the shirt a classic but modern feel, whilst the graphic on the outer neck is the Catalan Senyera flag. The inner neck reads, ‘MÉs Que Un Club’ (More than a club). The blue on the shirt is a darker blue than seasons gone by.  And the font used on the Kit is inspired by Catalan architecture.

The blue shorts have a red stripe on the side and ‘Barca’ on the back waistband. The blue socks have Barça in yellow in the same font as the shirt. The socks also offer a new and innovative design featuring an updated cotton footbed offering additional support and comfort.

everyone screams for some originality and then moans when they see a kit like this. i like barca's approach to such a classic shirt - they always seem prepared to break the mould. imagine if newcastle adopted a non-stripey home kit like this??

it's far better than this year's, and on the pitch (not in super zoom) will actually look class.

it could have been gingham after all... muhahahahaaaaaa.

Barsa don't decide the kit, Nike do. Nike also chose that Kitbag, based in Manchester, to be the major worldwide distributor for kits (they have more range in Manchester than they do in FCB's official shop AT the Camp Nou!).

Originality is good when it doesn't contravene certain historical absolutes, i.e. the blaugrana being either halves or alternated in another manner such as stripes.

I'm not happy with it. Yallop's 'How They Sold The Game' needs a new chapter on football shirts.

Barca had a half & half coloured shirt in 1999 for their centenary and then a similar version to this new shirt in 2001, with the red bar down the middle. Its no big deal, this is just a modern version of that shirt in my eyes, with a bit of blending/fading goin' on.

I beg to differ, there's only so much you can do with red and blue stripes for so long without varying the 'Barca Brand'. Not too many people liked last years Barcelona kit untill they saw it ON so maybe it's too early to judge untill we see the players wearing it

Awful shirt, and an embarassing "inspirational" story for the motivation behind the design. How the hell does this shirt display youthfulness, creativity, tradition and whatever? It only displays a significant enough change in design so kids will spend more money buying this useless shirt, that's worth no more than 13 empty plastic bottles.

Nike has been introducing awful, computer-generated, designs this year. These "modern" designs will be laughed at in 10 years time. Barca will look like a bunch of futuristic, PSG loving, space rangers on the pitch next season.

When they give you plain traditional kits people say "Nice but boring, why can't they do something a little different for once"
They give you the something different and poeple say "Horrible, this design has no historical relevance with our club. Give us tradition please"
There is no winning for them, oh except in the bank account.

you do realize that nike is a global brand. yea its American but they based their football design HQ in Amsterdam and most designing for the nike brand happens in europe. take frances kit for example, designed by a design studio in France. Poland's kit was designed in Poland. chances are Barca's kit was designed in Spain. so educate yourself you fool. if you wanna blame nike, blame the europeans sense of style.

I'd like to know from what source you gleaned the info that this was designed in Spain; most shirts are designed at a head office. Nike's EUROPEAN HQ are there for tax reasons, their ACTUAL HQ are still in the good old, US of A (Oregon, If I'm not wrong).

The shirts were premiered in BCN but I doubt, due to the uproar, these were designed in Spain. The board, and I suppos ethat means Rosell, gave their decision that they liked the kits but fans are pretty decided that it flies in the face of basic respect. Saying thta, the kits look better on the players than here: http://www.fcbarcelona.cat/club/detall/galeria-d-imatges/partit-per-la-marato-per-la-pobresa

£40+ for a nylon T-Shirt

Cheap stuck on badge and Nike logo that can/will easily peel off (what happened to embroidered badges that'll last forever?) This is fine for players, but for people paying good money I'd want something a little more substantial than a sticker for a badge

Total RIP OFF

I think those people "who just like to see barca in stripes" do so because that's what a Barca shirt is supposed to be - blue and red vertical stripes. One of the most iconic football jerseys on the planet, butchered for two years running by Nike.

I'd seriously love to know who signs off on this - does someone at Barca review this and say "I like what you've done this year, go ahead"? I just can't imagine that. Then again, look at who their sponsor is now. I guess anything goes...

Goddamnit. On every f'ing newly released shirt I go here on FSC 90% of the comments are extremely negative about it and have tons of thumbs up on them and for various reasons. One time it's because the shirt is so boring and standard, the other time it's because it's too futuristic, different and not traditional. Then what the censored do you want? I think it's a fine shirt even though the blue could've been a bit lighter. And I'm sure that atleast 50% of you haters would change your minds once you see the kits on the players themselves. Then all of a sudden you fall in love with it and even decide to buy it.

the leaks looked like crap but looking at this it doesnt really look all that bad. heck its better than the one the had this past season. maybe the qatar foundation logo is messing the kit up.

What is THIS?!? This fade thing just doesn't work for Barca. I do not see their identity in it at all. I agree with Brendymufc, this would work just fine for PSG.

To me personally, this is already too far off from te traditional Barca design. It would be a good kit for any other team, it just isn't for this great club...

WTF Nike...and WTF Barca
Bring back the classic designs!
No sponsor in front or at least put back UNICEF in there...replacing it with Qatari Foundation - results: lost La Liga AND the Champions League.

The leaked images looked awful but these are... awful too I'm afraid. Maybe the designer had hit the bootle?

Change for change sake!

Back to stripes and a blue round neck collar next time please!

Would be great for PSG or Ajax (different colours obviously) but I prefer the more traditional vertical stripes. not that my opinion matters, people will buy it anyway just like they will our gingham kit.

I personally really like the design, so much better than all the plain design that nike have made for the international kits. And also recycling the kits should be applauded, one of the few things in football that is not money grabbing.

It's different. Very different for a Barca kit. Kudos for Nike though for being brave with a kit like this for as big a team as Barcelona.

Looks OK, but it reminds me a little bit of a PSG kit.

I love how everyone's crying over Barca's "iconic" shirt, while they stole it from FC Basel.

It does look like a Spiderman costume. The one from the future movie to be exact. It also seems way too tight. This is definitely a no-buy for me.

Away one is terrible too, on par with the Kappa ones of the 90's

Massive fall in shirt sales this year I think. Time to get a new kit supplier.

I actually like the kit but it just doesn't look like Barcelona, red and blue stripes, STRIPES ! Also the blue is far to dark. If nike want to experiment with kits do it with away kits, as they clearly have with Barcas orange effort but a Barcelona home kit should be traditional blue and red striped, if you want experimentation/ modernasation do it with away kits, or with the technology, added trims and cuffs, but please keep the colours the same! Imagine if Newcastle turned out in an all white kit with one black stripe or Celtic with one green, there would be outrage from the supporters !
