Bristol City have unveiled its new Adidas home kit for the 2012/13 npower Championship season, featuring the club's new Principal Partners Blackthorn.

The new City home strip, which goes on sale on Thursday, July 12th, sees the introduction of the colour black to the shirt. Traditionally a part of City's kits throughout its history, the greater show of black brings a powerful new look to the kit, which also boasts a vibrant red on the shirt with red shorts and red socks.

The new home kits will also feature Adidas Formotion, engineered to maximise freedom for the wearer and are designed to also optimise comfort. The new kits also have sculpted hem and leg openings to accommodate specific football movement, providing ultimate performance.

City midfielder Cole Skuse, said: "As a fan growing up there was always a sense of excitement when the new season's kit was launched and I think this new look from adidas is very dynamic and will please the supporters. It's certainly a hit amongst the lads."

The first time fans will see the 2012/13 home kit in action at Ashton Gate will be Louis Carey's testimonial match against local rivals Bristol Rovers on Saturday, August 4th (1pm).

Club captain Louis told the club website: "The new kit is superb and I'm especially pleased we'll get to wear it for the first time at Ashton Gate for the Bristol derby match. I can't wait to wear it."

Home shirts will retail at £45 for adults and £35 of juniors.

Last month, City announced Blackthorn as the club's first ever Principal Partner, who now sit proudly, in black, on the front of the new home shirts, as well as on the white away shirt revealed last month.

Replica junior shirts will, however, not carry the Blackthorn logo next season. To support the work of the club in the community, Blackthorn have donated the space on the front of City's youngest supporters' shirts to the Bristol City Community Trust.

Thanks to Olly

What a pathetic comment. It looks absolutely nothing like Hull City. Because it's the same template, it's therefore the same!

You should get some glasses, mate. This is the same template, with colours, crest, and sponsor swapped. Same overbearing design. It looked smart on Hull, but doesn't work with Bristol's colours. At all.

Speaking of which, can't remember City ever having had this amount of black on the shirt. Sure, black shorts and socks, but this is overdoing it.

In fact, the only positive thing I can say about this strip, is that there's no horribly corny "celebration" picture to accompany it.

No, it's YOU who needs to get some glasses "mate"

Hull city's kit is Orange, this one is Red and Black. Hull City's kit has got a roaring tiger on the front, this one has got a couple of unicorns. Template, wtf...

I'm not entirely sure whether you're attempting to troll me, or genuinely visually impaired. Or have your terms all mixed up.

For starters, go try 'n convince any Hull-supporter that the team is wearing orange.

A bit offended by some twats telling us we play in orange blackpool play in orange not the mighty tigers I'm a bit Pissed off with cheap adidas here thinking hull got an exclusive and now I see shitsol city with the same censoreding design much prefer hull shirts when donnay made our kits they were exclusive and the badge stayed on after you wash the shirt censored ADIDAS!

My thoughts entirely. I'd love to know what colour they think it is.

N.B. If you think it's a shade of orange (gold, amber, tangerine etc) then guess what? IT'S ORANGE

plenty of hurr durr on this site.

Lets face it, it's more likely to be League One if they carry on as they have done.

This kit breaks with recent tradition a bit with the black, and the red (not white) shorts. They should change that crest. Something more identifiable and modern maybe like the old one with the robin and bridge. As a neutral I think that Rovers' crest is much better. And of course they have those cool quartered shirts lol. But good luck to both clubs next season.

Not bad at all. 'twould be a tad nicer, I think, if the black panel in the front came down a bit lower, and if the sponsor was moved down a few centimeters. But otherwise, very nice.

Bristol City usually have a nice kit and this is no exception. If you're being fussy, the sponsor doesn't read well on the home shirt because of the script and lack of contrast. Wouldn't be able to read it, except close up.
