Chicago Fire 2012 Adidas Home Football Shirt

chicago fire 2012 adidas home football shirt

The Chicago Fire 2012 home shirt brings more blue into the kit than previous editions.  For the first time the traditional contrast panel across the chest is in Fire Blue. It extends across the sides and into the sleeves allowing for the ClimaCool mesh to be placed for ventilation and moisture management.  Formotion technology cut lines allow the wearer freedom to move without the jersey being constricting. A traditional collar returns to the kit for the first time since the club’s 1998-99 seasons.

The open neck placket incorporates the traditional white that has been part of the Fire home kit since their inception in 1998.  White adidas 3-Stripes, adidas corporate logo, back collar and on the sleeves continue the use of white on the primary kit.

The Chicago Fire team crest is heat applied to reduce weight and ensure player comfort with no seam lines to sew down the crest. The holographic MLS Championship star is above the team crest representing the club’s 1998 MLS Cup championship.

The side panels below the blue inset panel have the diamond plate emboss with a Fire screen print at the lower right hem.  The back neck tape also has the Diamond plate pattern with the Chicago Fire logo. adidas authentic holographic transfer at the right hem and Formotion call out at the left hem.

The mesh ClimaCool panel just below the collar on the back of the jersey incorporates the 3 key tennants of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club: Tradition. Honor. Passion.  Each separated by one of the six-pointed stars of the Flag of Chicago.

this shirt didn't need a blue stripe for the sponsor.
It would look so better without it.

I actually disagree. well at first I didn't like it, but now I actually do like it. It's a good new look for a team that has been going though a lot of change

The Fire's traditional use of the chest stripe has to be white.

I think it looks great! not sure if the fans will warm very nicely to the dark blue stripe instead of the white but truth be told this is one classy kit! I'd love to see this template on European kits too! Top marks for adidas with Chicago this season!!!

Not because of these kits, but why does MLS have a sponsorship with Adidas? It's a kind of betraying Nike. Nike is an American brand. So why take German sportswear..

NOTE: This comment is not mentioned to be anti Germans. Not even close...

And why do LA Galaxy have David Beckham. It's kind of betraying American soccer players. And why do New York have Hans Backe as coach? it's kind of betraying american coaches. And so on...

I feel ya. But I guess this is just to make Football/soccer a more popular sport in the USA. Still, most of these players are good enough for European clubteams. I think they made their point across the pond. So now it's their own business to make it a popular sport.

A large part of American culture is German anyway. Look at the hamburger & frankfurter hot-dog...

I'm a Fire fan and I'm not too upset about the change to a blue stripe from white. It's a good alternate look. Shout out to the 98 original Nike kit.

While I believe the kit template is brilliant, I don't like the change from white to dark blue.

What bothers me most about it is that they didn't need to do it. The shirt would look just as good with the white stripe, the sponsor logo in navy and the collar in white with the three stripes in blue. Basically just switch all the white and blue on the shirt and you would have a perfectly acceptable, attractive kit that also respects the club's traditions.

I agree with those alterations. The reality is that Adidas hasn't pleased Fire fans with a shirt in ... actually I can't remember when I've really "loved" one from them. I was at Toyota Park a few days ago to give my buddy a tour and someone told us that the shop will soon be carrying Nike gear. Hint? Who knows.

I dunno about the blue stripe going onto the arms like that & I wish the polo collar had a v-neck drop instead of the polo overlap. The past 2 seasons' collars were nice w/ the FIRE taping.
