Crystal Palace aunched the new season 2012/2013 kit featuring two styles for adults - a players' 'styled fit' with mesh side panels and a 'standard fit'. The season 2012/2013 home and away shirts are inspired by Palace fans for Palace fans and are completely unique to the club.

In today's matchday programme, Palace co-owner, Steve Parish said: "The main news today is the launch of the new kits. We have worked tirelessly to bring to you a completely unique 'fan inspired' home and away strip. I hope you like it, the work that has gone in to make it happen has been immense and none of it would have been possible without Jon Rolls, a lifelong fan, and our kit partner JSPL."

Actually, the original Crystal Palace (founded 1861) has no real connection to the modern incarnation (founded 1905). Barcelona was founded in 1899). Barca started wearing the blue and red in 1900. Crystal Palace didn't start wearing actual blue and red until 1973--they were blue and claret before that. They didn't start wearing stripes until 1937, while Barcelona were wearing stripes as early as the 1920s.

So... yeah.

The point he made was just because we play in red and blue don't mean we copied barca

In fact we didn't sell out like other clubs and get the same design as 30 other clubs just in different colours with big brands like puma , Nike , adidas and so on,We made our own design.

Which is original thanks very much

Blatant rip off.

You sold out many years ago, hence the Nike Teamsport kits. You aren't with a brand like Nike, Puma, etc now because they don't regard you as highly as you seem to yourself. Delude bunch

Did any of you know that Barcelona wear blue and red because the original owner was Swiss and A life long Basel fan, so he wanted his new to to reflect his old team!

You're right it does look like a mix between those 2 kits, but it's also a mix of 2 of Palace's most iconic kits.

The stripes are from the 1972-73 kit and the colours (with the yellow trim) are from the 1969-71 kit.

Pretty weird to see Avec back in the market. Don't think they've done anything since the late 90's.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Barcelona influence, hopefully might inspire the players to play like them.

After having our first season with JSPC we are surprised with the chav like tat that Avec turn out now in their training range. It may be bespoke but the Avec kits of 10-15 years ago were innovative designs and certainly superior to the this Newcastle / Barca hybrid

As has already been pointed out it's very similar to Newcastle's kit which I really don't like, it doesn't look any better in red and blue. When designers mess around with stripes it usually goes wrong, most "interesting" striped designs are very poor, the best striped shirts are usually the most simple, it may be a little dull but it at least always looks good. I'm really not a fan of this one.

I think that this kit is disappointing, if I'm being brutally honest. Not disappointing as in, "oh no, I left the gas on at home, I'm so disappointed in myself!" No, certainly not THAT disappointing. More disappointing as in, "oh dear, my lottery numbers didn't come out again". Not only is the initial disappointment mild, especially in relation to the first disappointment, but with the lottery there is always the chance you will win next week, or the week after that, or even the week after that. In fact, lottery numbers are drawn every week of the year in the United Kingdom.

They do them twice a week now, so you have even more reason to feel optimistic. Plus, why not have a go at the Health Lottery? The jackpot isn't so high, but there is a better chance of winning, and I hear they give some of the profits to good causes.

At the end of the day if palace can sell more of these kits then previous then they have done well. Home kit is nice, away kit is growing on me. For all those saying its a copy of Barca it's not. They have added yellow to the home kit as throughout the last 20 years yellow has been the colour of the majority of our away kits. They wanted to produce kits which feature these three colours and have done so. There are more teams who play in just, red , blue or white, so everyone must be copying each other. So is stoke's away kit a copy of palace, barca, dag & red, FC Basel the list goes on.

Lets just see what next season holds.

Excellent shirts, just beautiful! Very glad to see Palace has dumped Nike in favour of a real brand that actually cares about its customers. Designs look fine, and I like the tag on the bottom of the back. Hopefully more clubs will follow Palace and dump Nike/Umbro, Adidas, and Puma in favour of quality brands such as Errea, Hummel, Xara, Avec, Lotto, and many others.
