The new Republic Of Ireland home shirt combines a classic look with modern technology, with a green marl effect performance material used for the main body of the shirt, it also features front body darts to offer fans and players an extra level of smartness. A tonal striped rib collar adds an extra design touch to proceedings, while mesh underarm panels increase breathability.

Crafted in a smart 'St Patrick's Green' colour, with the Eire crest and Umbro logo embroidered on the chest and the sponsors logo printed below, the new shirt also features a subtle white trim on each arm for an extra layer of smartness.

It's an existing template (Sweden home) but a smart shirt- looks like it will only be used for qualifying, if they make it to Brazil they will have a new strip. Always annoyed that we can't purchase an Irish shirt without a sponsor on it since the mid 80s

Absolutely loath the sponsor on the jersey, No other country do this. As an Irish fan it pisses me off completely and has ruined some decent jerseys

Czech republic and a few others do it as well, I guess the football associations just can't afford not to. Still annoying though.

Overall, I like it, but the way the collar folds over in the front seems like it would sit uncomfortably.

so player numbers are considered sponsors now? interesting. and if "plastic chelsea fan" is meant to imply fake then you are wrong good buddy. i became a fan when they won the double. what about your gunners? you probably started watching when they had henry. hardly any difference

Nice kit but ridiculous that after 8 games they change the strip again! Sponsor on the shirt is a joke no other nation does this. I think a move to nike or adidas is needed!!
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

+1 # 2012-10-03 12:02
Now what on earth does the technical sponsor have to do with the commercial sponsor on the shirt?
You really think adidas or "the other one" would take it off?
Concentrate on the shirt design.
Change of shirt every 8 games has been initiated two years ago by "the other one" and its battle with adidas, with almost everyone to forcedly follow (sincerely I do not know why because I can' t believe people are so idiot to buy a new shirt every year, or 8 games, anyway).
Go on Umbro, you can' t abandon us, do resist this hard moment and keep producing magnificent stuff.
You will always have affectionate fans.

The shirt is fine - nice clean and crisp design. I like it.

No criticsm from me on this shirt.

There are two things that bug me about Rep. of Ireland national shirts, but this is not to find fault with this shirt.

1)-National shirts never, never, never have sponsers//advertising on them. As far as I know the Rep. of Ireland national replica shirts appear to be the only one to come with a sponsor on them. The authentic ones worn by the player during a full international, don't have a sponsor on them.

2)-Rep. of Ireland semm to change their shirt almost every 6 months.

Obviously the Rep. of Ireland FA get money from the sponsor being on their replica shirts and by changing their shirt every 6 months or so.

i like the kit but IMO Umbro is turning into a lifestyle brand rather than a sports brand. imagine if Ralph Lauren designed kits (which they did with Cosmos back in the 70's) thats where Umbro is heading. I miss the old Umbro with its quirky "X" designs. I appreciate Nike injecting some "class" with umbro into the football market but honestly its getting old. after all players are not concerned how well they look they need comfort, lightweight and breath ability
