Don't worry about the switch to Nike, they have experience of making shirts in this exact colour - the Arsenal kit of 2005/6. As if buying all of Arsenal's players wasn't enough, why not copy one of our kits too. Sincerest form of flattery and all that.....

Not really, first appearing in the 50s you have had an away kit in this colour 5 or 6 times, ever. arguably some of those were even more purple.
Arsenal however used this colour as a home kit for their first 25 seasons.

no mate, City's traditional change of kit was maroon up to the late 60's and then red/black stripes (copied AC Milan) and occasionally a white shirt (with or without sash) all other colours started started from the 90's

inspired by the one-off shirts that City heroes wore for their 1956 FA Cup final victory, Also if we wanted to be arsenal we would of bought a 16 year old from Denmark not Sergio Aguero we would of also sold all are best players and won no silverware. P.S city also had a maroon kit in the 02/03 season.

Good to see that Citeh have resisted chasing the Asian support by launching a scarlet kit with a massive "Hello Kitty" or a half naked schoolgirl with enormous eyes on the front.

what are the 3 stars on the badge for, the only trophy they've won 3 times is the community shield, and i don't think a non-league team would be proud of that???

City have had the stars on the shirt since 1997 so it won't be league wins

They should bring back the Lolly pop lady kit they had in '99. That would be a good kit

I do think the three stars is a bitt naff as they are purely decorative and don't signify anything. Much preferred it when City had the older style badge with the ship on it and were referred to as The Citizens. As a Tigers fan I'm use to not winning anything and having no stars on our shirts but, should the Miracle Day ever arrive, at least I'd know we'd earned that star. As for the kit I think it's smart and cleverly understated.

funny, looking at Noel & Kompany it looks like this one looks better as a top for the supporters than a jersey for the players.

Has to be one of the best kits i've seen in ages.

After stealing Arsenal's players, now they are stealing Arsenal's away kit from 2005 season.

What a disgraceful team, City is.

Supported both Man City and Hearts since the 70's and i've never seen either win very much untill recent times. Didn't know City wore maroon in the 56 cup final, did you know Hearts won the scottish cup final the same year wearing maroon also.

It's a smart kit no doubt, my son wants two maroon kits now i'm pleased to say.

When will people realise nike and umbro are the same company these days well nike are thinking about selling off the umbro brand so they are moving there big named teams over to the nike brand I will not be surprised to see England in nike at the next world cup. So don't worry the kit design shouldn't change dreasticaly well unless some one goes mad like they did with the Arsenal away and Man U home it will be the same retroish stuff they have been doing for a while I miss the crazy designs of 80/90's kits people need to have more imagiantion then going back to this looked good in the 50's/60's early 70's and lets go challenge kit design and make something awesome.
