I would've take blue, purple, yellow, green, all kinds of colors.
BUT RED !?!?!? (or burgundy, whatever)

My nightmares are coming true.
As well my conclusion that: PUMA is the WORST kit manufacturer of the world.

+8 # 2012-05-04 18:25
Its a really dark burgundy, and we did wear a similar shade in 1995-1996 for that seasons change kit. Its not the same shade as the Mackems, and IMHO this is the best change kit puma have made. And Newcastle have had FAR worse kits than this for the change (1997-98, 2009-10 and the horrible green and blue number that Asics gave us in 1994)
And I think this has very subtle shadow stripes. For class, this is up there with tailored umbro kits from these pictures, lets hope its as well made as those kits.

I know Newcastle used this color before. It's different from Sunderland, yeah, But I don't like to see the red (burgundy, maroon, claret) so isolated like it is in this shirt, with black as a companion, instead of blue or navy.
Also, it looks generic, since we'll probably see a lot of other clubs wearing something just like that, with just a change of colors.
I really don't like PUMA, and (this is my opinion, of course) I didn't like any of the kits they made for Newcastle (any of them). They always try to come up with something different from other companies, but resulting in something weird, ugly.
Miss the Adidas, who made some bad stuffs as well, but when they did something good, there was nothing so perfect like it.

I'm delighted with the new shirt. Every year i look out for it being maroon because not only do i like personally like the colour, but it is is also the city's ceremonial colour. It's therefore a nice touch to see the football team wearing the city colours.

The colour is nice, but Puma have fallen short otherwise.

It has a training shirt feel to it. The Puma cat, badge and sponsor don't seem lined up properly, even considering the Puma badge is on the shoulder anyway.

Is it too much to ask for an embroidered badge? Or even a neat looking synthetic one? The white edging make it look like a sticker.

This option does not look bad ... Although Puma is working on a very bad design, just change the color of the form ... for Newcastle came to a very Umbro or Adidas would be a better back!

+2 # 2012-05-05 08:59
I actually like it. far better than the 2010-11 away and 3rd kit (the white and the blue ones). those were boring. this one is classy. and that's not red. maybe some people just can't distinguish colours. that's like sparta prague or ac torino, if you get what I mean, it has nothing to do with Sunderland's kit.

Nice kit.

Maroon, a darker shade of the best colour for kits that is claret, works well with the black.

More evidence that Puma are designing some of the best kits so far this year.

Fecking bottling cnuts could have all but secured Champs League footy next season if they hadn't bottled it today. Spurs are wobbling too. If both clubs weren't such monumental bottle jobs they both could have been in next season's Champions League. Now it will probably be Arsenal and Chelsea again and the status quo is resumed. As "Mike Ashley" above said, Newcastle will probably sell their best players now.

Cant understand why people think that this new shirt looks or resembles a Scumberland shirt. Its smart, its Burgundy and Navy, not red and white and hasn't got a stupid stuck on patch on the front to cover the old sponsor. I have ordered mine. Also all those people asking about the Home shirt.. MA wont release it until all the orders are in for this one. Get as many people buying this shirt 1st then release the Home one too and get the sales from that too!! Very clever if you ask me.
