Notts County 12/13 Fila Football Shirts

These are the new Notts County home away and third strips made by Fila for the 2012/13 campaign.

Fans packed into the Meadow Lane Sports Bar for the Team Presentation evening, which saw all of the summer signings interviewed by host Colin Slater. Following the question and answer session, which also saw the players quizzed by those in attendance, a fashion show took place, showing off the new-look Fila training wear and kits.

Modelled by Julian Kelly, Neal Bishop and Manny Smith (pictured left to right), the strips look set to be popular with supporters based on initial responses at the event.

Hundreds later piled into the club shop after the fashion show to get their hands on the home kit, with many eager to purchase the away orange and black hooped design and the pink third kit that will both go on sale closer to the season.

If only the home shirt had the same sponsor as the other 2 it would be ok. Also notice they all have the same shorts which is pretty boring.

Nope they all have different shorts - the piping is different on each.

Luckily, anyone who would be seduced by their sponsor would not be in a position to see what a monstrosity those away kits are.

For the people dissing the orange-black away kit, it's based on Notts' original kits, which were exactly like that (but without sponsor and kitmaker gunk). I think that makes it acceptable.

Can't help thinking that for a kit meant to mark 150 years, Fila and the club have missed an opportunity to do something special. Firstly there shouldn't be any sponsor on the home shirt, and secondly it shouldn't be so cheap-looking, as though no thought has gone into it whatsoever. Poor job. Big shame.

Why pink? I never understand why clubs/manufacturers chose to use pink unless it's part of a clubs history. Does Notts County have a history of using pink?

Anyway, the home is fine while the orange one is not bad, liking the use of the more/slimmer hoops.

Notts County Football Club
The World's Oldest Football League Club
Celebrating 150 Years 1862-2012

The design and feel is nice, I dislike the sponsor being there at all, the big Fifa sleeve bits, and feel it's been put tovgether more to sell kits in Italy than here (inside the neck it says: Fila, the proud sponsors for the 150th anniversary of Notts County F.C.)

I had hoped for an orang/black (as I believe all anniversary kits should have the 'first ever' shirt); one plain white (as was the centenary shirt and others earlier) and a black and white one. Also, a reverting to the oldest badge, a crest. But, we ARE third dvision, like it or not, and can't ask for much more.

Another rebadged Carbrini kit, and for a 150 year kit, they have done a very disappointing job in terms of quality. Nice touch with the hooped away kit thoughbut the sponsor spoils it.

In my opinion, sponsors should be left out of commemorative kits or at least minimilise it like Celtic & Rangers have done with their home kits.

Is the pink third kit meant to acknowledge Juventus? (Juventus wore pink shirts before County gave them their now famous black/white striped kits)?

A good deal of thought did actually go into this project from the club. The home kit was originally intended as last season’s third shirt to celebrate Notts being the first league club in the world to celebrate their 150th year. It features season ticket holders names printed in the black stripes. However, the shirt was never worn by the team and only available (without sponsor or sleeve logos) in limited numbers; mostly to those who had pre-ordered it seven months in advance. The reason for such limited availability was because the club was so pleased with the design that it was quickly chosen to be Notts’ home shirt in the club’s 150th season.
It is actually much nicer in real life than the picture and is the best home shirt we've had since the first Matchwinner shirt back in the early 90s in which we were promoted two seasons in a row under Neil Warnock.
As noted by a poster above, the orange and black hooped shirt recognises the colours of the original shirt Notts wore upon the club’s formation in 1862. The pink shirt is indeed a salute to the links Notts have with Juventus who, of course, wore pink shirts before famously adopting Notts’ black and white stripes.
The kits have received a great deal of support from the Notts faithful who, whilst some won’t buy them all for varying reasons, they at least recognize the significance of the design or colours of each.
