Why would Team GB need an away kit again?

Right firstly, horrible shirt and to answer some brainless people's questions 1. We need an away kit because every team in football does incase of a thing called 'kit clashing' where the team we could play would be wearing identical colours and 2. Umbro don't make these kits as team GB have a contract deal with Adidas. It's not an England shirt pal it's a great britain shirt so Adidas are making it and let's face it Adidas are better anyway. Bottom line, both home and away shirts are horrible I'll stick to my fan version which at least has a full union jack on it and being Scottish I must say I am very proud to be considered part of Great Britain

I won't patronize you all by telling you what tune to sing this to:

"God Save our bland-y kit,
It makes us look like s h i t,
Don't buy this kit,

Worn only against the Greeks,
It still costs you some 40 sheets,
Stella's designs just make me weep,

Let's face it, buying it or not, it's really bland. Reminds me of an envelope. Wish I could post it to Stella McCartney and write "only because your dad was a beatle and is incredible rich!!" followed by "I dare you to design some stuff in secret and market it with a pretend name so no one knows you, then see how well recieved your designs are. Go on, dare you!"

I'm suprised people aren't moaning about a lack of blue in this shirt.

I want the Beckham model of this shirt.

Better than that navy blue first choice abomination, although it still needs the three stripes down the sleeve to make it look "complete", how an Adidas kit should look.

Football first appeared at the 1908 London Olympics with club side Upton Park (no connection with West Ham) representing and winning gold for Great Britain wearing essentially the England kit with a Union Jack crest. This reflected the English FA’s control of the team and the GB athletics team’s colours. The combination was worn for all Olympics the GB qualified for, the last being 1960.

Outside the Olympics Great Britain fielded a team in the 1947 so called ‘Match of the Century’ to celebrate the Home Nations rejoining FIFA, playing a Rest of Europe team and running out in navy blue as they were playing in Scotland. When in 1955 a representative British XI played a Europe XI to celebrate the Irish FA’s 75th anniversary, the game was played at Windsor Park with the team again wearing the host nations home colours of green.

This should be the home shirt! As well as every other Olympic outfit the GB team are wearing should be white.

Stella McCartney obviously has no clue about traditional GB Olympic attire.

How difficult was that?!

I still don't like the design, despite waiting for these olympic kits for years (commemorative, probably won't happen again, etc) but there are a few details that just confuse me.

Firstly, is that really the best they could manage with the badge? It's utterly awful, it looks like it belongs to a youth side - no offense.

Why does the Union Flag taper off in the middle? Why is it printed in such a large size? On the home kit, it's going to look stupid with a number printed on it.

Then there are the sleeves, the collar, the dumb seams...

What a missed opportunity.

I think it would be nicer with more red.. but i love the Union Jack design!

Why is everyone moaning about why team GB need to wear an away kit.
It’s all about the designated home team and away team, no matter if there the host nation or not, remember 1966, England were the host nation and won the final in there iconic red away kit.

I have a really small wang

I know this is not the appropriate forum but I needed to tell someone.

If these shirts are the new ones, then what was the point in releasing the ones that they did before that were royal blue and the other one was red. They were released in october costing £35. We are now told that this is the real one and it will cost £40.

If you finish 2nd in your group, you would inherently be the "away" team in any knock-out match. Therefore, the need for an "away" kit. Der.

As an American (my team sadly didn't qualify for the Olympics--what's new?), I really enjoy both of these shirts. As a football fan in general, especially the Premier League, I find myself rooting for England a lot when the US isn't playing. that being said, I'm looking forward to rooting for Team GB this year and will probably buy this kit.
