Team Great Britain 2012 Olympics Adidas Home Kit

For the first time in 38 years, Team GB are flying the flag for British football at the Olympic Games. Designed by Stella McCartney, Creative Director for the project, the kit combines the best in performance technologies and British style, and will be available here.

adidas UK Marketing Director Nick Craggs said: 'All eyes will be on the British athletes when they take the stage at the Games, so we wanted to ensure that they would be the best equipped team through a combination of leading technologies including PowerWEB and Climacool and a unified and striking team identity.'

I dislike the whole GB olympic team kit. from cycling to tennis. This one would be great, if that baby blue was red...

Am I the only one who feels ripped off for the one released just before Xmas? I mean, there's a fan kit AND a team kit? I'd have been okay about that if they told us that when they released it, but I feel a bit ripped off to be totally honest

They always said that the one that Gareth Bale modeled was a supporters shirt and not the actual kit.

There was a tonne of news about what the point in it was

It was even covered on this very website http://www.footballshirtculture.com/11/12-kits/team-gb-adidas-london-2012-commemorative-shirt.html

You can only blame yourself for the confusion

I don't think any Scot would consider any Scottish player to be good enough but that doesn't stop us objecting to the idea of a UK team.

-3 # 2012-03-23 09:57
why object? why not just join in and get the oppertunity to win summot.

maybe darren fletcher would have had a chance of playin if he was recovered - a nice mixture of players and we potentially cud do well.

only chance scottish football is gonna have any remote chance of celebration. ever

Dont see the big deal about the colours. First of all the British Olympic team has always worn blue and white as its primary colours. Second of all the beauty of The Union Jack is that it's so iconic that it is recognisable in any colours. Could the French Tricolore do that?

Kit - the whole union flag thing is a chav-tastic nightmare. I would have thought a designer like SM and Adidas could have conjured up something better. And it's SKIN TIGHT! Most people watching the games are doing so cos they are NOT built like a cyborg!

British argument - being part English and part Scots im proud of both - but as we all stood shoulder to shoulder in the two biggest wars this island has ever faced, it saddens me that all the bickering about 'conquering Scotland' or the 'Union being outdated' comes up - separate proud nations existing together. Did us alright in the darkest of days - maybe folk should not blank this out when harping on about history - whichever way you see it.

As a football fan, I totally understand why all of the Home Nations are against this. But it's just one competition, and technically, you are one country. I get that you're different. I really love Great Britain. I also love each country for it's own unique culture. But really, you're no more different than the northern U.S. is from the southern U.S. and trust me, you think Bin Laden hated New York, people from Alabama REALLY hate New York. So just chill. I envy all of you, because you get to live in Great Britain, and you live in a country that actually respects football.

kinda glad, the other FA's did not want any part in this. especially northern Ireland i mean , more northern athletes would probably be lining out for the Irish Olympic team then the British one, and yea while in football we may have two FA's but at least if we ever wanted to have a united team again it would make some sense.

A British team just seems kinda pointless to me.

A united Irish team seems kinda pointless to a lot of Northern Irish people though...

(Speaking as a Northern Irish person who thinks the same...)

to be fair alot of northern Irish fans and even players feel the other way.

why is it pointless since it works in many other sports ?.

plus lets be honest the north is losing players
cause alot of players up there dont feel any real attactment
to the north team and feel closer to the republic,
a united team would change that

+8 # 2012-03-29 11:06
What about the people who are proud to represent and support a Northern Ireland team? Your plan would take their team away from them. I for one would not support a united Irish football team. If you support a united Ireland then you already have a team to play for or support... that team is the Republic of Ireland football team. For the record, I don't support the Ireland rugby team either. (And there are plenty like me.)

-7 # 2012-03-30 14:05
i guess this is not the place, for this. but i dont see it as
not taking anything away from them. Why would they not consider a united team their own?. And yes i do to a point consider the Republic of Ireland almost a united team, considering how mixed the squad is.

But would also like to see a proper one that could represent the hole island. It would be best for the players and the fans

My Friend once saw a united Ireland team play against world champions Brazil in the 70s, this shows that player who play for the north would still line out for a united team (sure Niall McGinn a north player even said he was a fan of the south, and yet some NI fans gave him horrible stick for it)

simple fact is many northern Irish athletes will be line out for the Irish Olympic team, as well as the united Rugby team, Gaelic football team, Cricket team, Curling, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Golf, Handball etc, and fans will support those teams. Football can be the same

+9 # 2012-03-30 14:56
But you see it wont be the same because many Northern Irish people "don't feel any real attachment" to the Republic of Ireland and will not support a united Irish team (in any sport you care to mention) because we have been brought up with NI being set apart... and that's just how we like it. A % of NI people also have much more of a connection with the UK (because that after all is our country) - hence people being genuinely excited with the prospect of the GB & NI Olympic football team. Those that have a connection with the Republic can play for the FAI team or support them - it's their choice. So really, we're going round in circles here. In the end I think it's better the way it is because the IFA team, the FAI team and the GB&UK team caters for every viewpoint.

People on here ripping into scotland, sorry, but when did Team GB become "Team England & Others"? and seeing as the most successful managers in england are in fact scottish, and the fact that any player with any talent from scotland, you try and pick them up at a low price speaks volumes!

With Money, comes arrogance, scotland knows its limitations, England are too self indulgent to even consider it.

Im from neither england or scotland, but you fools who argue oover silly little things like the colour of a football shirt seriously have no concept towards football as a whole.

appreciate that they're trying to do something different with it, and as a scot, I don't care whether it has red in it or not, as I don't really feel british anyway, so I wouldn't buy a team GB shirt, not that I want there to not be a team GB as it is really upto whoever wants to be a part of it and whoever out of that group are judged to be good enough to take part for the whole of GB I accept and appreciate that I belong to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or Great Britain (whichever context you like) and yes, my heart says yes to independance and my head says stay in the UK but at the end of the day it is only an olympic football shirt..... lets be honest, if it wasn't the year of the London olympics then would we all as football fans really give a shit about this shirt??? i've never seen so much attention on this site about any previous Team GB football shirts....... let those who like it buy it, let those who support team GB in any olympics buy it or not, it will not dminish their support for the team, end of

Got one of these, they aren't skintight at all (talking about the 'regular' retail version here).. In fact, when it arrived, it looks far too bloody big! Adidas football jerseys always seem to be sized bigger than Nike though, so I probably should have ordered one size smaller.
