usa 12-13 nike home football kit

We showed you some leaked picures a while ago, but today Nike unveiled the new United States 12/13 Home football Kit, which will be available here.

The new USA home kit combines heritage and patriotism in a bold new design that both the Men's and Women’s teams will debut on the pitch this summer. The jersey utilizes the colors of the American flag with a blue crew neck collar and a body featuring red and white stripes.

The shirt also features a tonal sash to echo the same design on the shirts worn by the US Men’s National Team when they famously defeated England in the 1950 Finals in Brazil.

Both kits are visually identical but the women’s kit is designed specifically for the female athlete to enhance range of motion creating a uniquely feminine silhouette. The American Stars and Stripes flag, affectionately known as ‘Old Glory,’ is placed inside the back of the neck of both versions to inspire pride.

The new home shorts are blue, while the socks – now with improved cushioning for greater comfort – movement and protection, are white with a blue band at the top.

In line with Nike’s commitment combining athletic performance with lower environmental impact, each kit is made using an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles. The new kit's shorts are made with 100% Dri-FIT recycled polyester and the shirt with a minimum 96% Dri-FIT recycled polyester. Overall the new kit is 23% lighter and 20% stronger than Nike’s previous kits.

Nike Dri-FIT is proprietary technology that works to wick away moisture helping to regulate player’s temperature during a match. The shirts also feature laser-cut ventilation holes to promote localized cooling where it matters most.

wow that's a good eye you've got there!
I would have never noticed that!
Plus you're right.
They need to choose between hoops and sashes (and I definitely prefer hoops)
This is a cool new look regardless though

wholeheartedly have to agree!
it made sense when the sash was the main feature of it again to what they had before, but this time around it doesn't serve any purpose.

dude the watermark sash makes it look epic, besides that sash is a symbol that when you mess with the USA, anything can happen.

They need to decide- personally, I think the sash NEEDS to stay- the US needs an identity, like how Argentina wears blue and white stripes, Brasil with the yellow shirts...

It messes up the design here from an aesthetics standpoint...

But that being said, the hoops are an interesting change. I just hope the sash is continually used as an identifier for the US.

i get what you mean, they're trying to carve out an identity and the sash has always worked for them. however, there's only so many variations you can get on a design (argentina) as opposed to a colour scheme (spain).

if the states are using the sash, there's only so many ways it can be worn before it becomes stale. i think the hoops with a single blue stripe running down where the logo is would look a lot sharper personally. a mixture of the current one and the 06.

England vs USA 1950 and 2010, Slovenia vs USA 2010, USA vs Algeria 2010, Italy vs USA 2012, And quite possibly more to come soon. Anything can happen when you face the USA, the reason why I didn't put other results such as USA vs Spain or Brazil is becuase they didn't wear the sash, they had thin red stripes, which seem to have come even bigger this time in this kit.

er, no - not really! Any examples? You only have to look at the new Chelsea kit to see how predictable and boring they've become. The quality is always pretty good, but the designs are boring and not much different from the templates they crank out in their Teamsports line.
Good point though! Ha ha

Hmmmm ....

It's a bit of a dull template-y design ... But the fact that they haven't just done a dull template-y all white number seems that at least someone at Nike wants to do something a bit different.

Now a light blue with stars 3rd strip and their journey towards ripping off the 94 kits will be complete.

It would be perfect if they changed three things:

1. Get rid of the almost invisible sash.
2. Don't break the stripe near the numbers.
3. Change the badge to red stripes and a blue background behind the stars.

They did for the 1994 World Cup. The primary jersey was red and white vertical stripes with denim blue shorts (close up, the shorts had very tiny navy markings that created the denim look at a distance). The change kit had the denim blue shirt with white stars and red shorts.

The US only wore the primary shirt in the round of 16 against Brazil, with red shorts (so as not to contrast with Brazil's blue shorts).

Nike took over the US soccer teams in 1995, so this look was very short-lived.

Never thought I'd see the day when I saw Alex Morgan on a real football site... I think it looks good for the men, I'm not sure about the women. They've had different kits for a number of years now, and I think it's been a nice distinction (one team is one of the best in the world, the other is just 'meh'), but I'm not sure how this shirt will look on the women's national team. Afterall, with all those red stripes, it's going to see Alex's pink sportsbra through the shirt.

USA soccer jerseys keep getting crappier and crappier. Besides the flag on the inside and the obnoxious prison stipes, there is no element of the USA Flag. On top of that, the USA soccer logo is terrible. It looks like an elementary school soccer club. If we are to represent the USA elegantly, at least use the Great Seal. Eliminate the ugly horizontal stripes, make the jersey henley style, put white stars over a navy background on the shoulders that run up all the way around the collar, have minute red at opening edges of the sleeves and torso bottom, write Stars and Stripes on the back collar. Now thats a jersey I would actually buy.
