Manchester United 13/14 Nike Away Football Shirt

This is the new Manchester United 13/14 Nike Away football shirt which is available here.

Manchester United will play in a new away kit this season boasting the iconic gingham check from the city’s industrial heritage.

The new away shirt, unveiled during the club’s pre-season tour in Japan at Osaka Castle, features the gingham used on last season’s home shirt with a bigger, bolder design.

Creative Football T-Shirts at Footytees.com - Featuring prints by a range of talented artists

The shirt’s large black-and-midnight navy gingham checks represent Manchester’s proud industrial past when the check was produced in the city’s booming cotton mills in the 18th century.

It features a black crew neck collar and a white woven devil from the United club crest inside the back of the neck.

The club crest at the heart of the jersey is an embroidered monochromatic midnight navy and white.

The new away shorts are midnight navy with a thin navy blue stripe on the back hem, and the away socks are navy blue with a white stripe between two black stripes, along with the traditional United bar design.

The new 13/14 Home and Away kits are available here

Nike Genius 1: hmmm what will we do with United's away shirt this year...last year was white so this year needs to be a dark colour

Nike Genius 2: Hmm you're right...that's a pickle!

Nike Genius 1: I know! how about we take the blue and black kit from two years ago, darken the blue and add vertical stripes to make it look like my grandmas rug?! They'll love that won't they?

Nike Genius 2: Ingenious idea! You deserve a promotion and a raise!

Won't be choosing Man utd for my FIFA 14 career with an away kit like this, what is it with the Scottish and the shortbread tin design

Gingham, you see manchester was working class we used to graft for our money, not handed down by our parents like the soft southeners and gingham was a big design in manc cotton mills, no wonder kids are not educated these days if the only teaching you have is what FIFA14 tells you, get back on your Xbox and learn some more!

Am I the only one who doesn't find it that bad??
As a United fan, I was furious last season when they messed about with our sacred red home shirt, but I honestly don't see too much problem with experimenting with our away kit.

Its not great. People expect clubs like Man U to go all out to give their legion of fans something they'll want to wear - this isn't it - only total die hard's will buy this. Disappointing - I give it 4/10 :o

The shirt itself is fine. Single colour badge looks cheap though. It would be ok if this was a training shirt. Presumably Nike are so confident of flogging loads of these to the plastic Mancs that they can cut corners by not using coloured thread in the embroidery on the badge

I'm an Everton fan, and you have seen what Nike managed to do to our badge...

As much as I agree with you about importance of the badge, it sadly seems that companies like Nike and Adidas, with frankly, their boring templates and in particular Nike, with their cheap badges, will do whatever they can to spin the greatest profit for themselves and ignore the clubs they supposedly 'design' kits for...

Erm....Nike don't have anything to do with the design of club's badges, sure they may change the colour, but the design is overseen solely by the club!

Hey Ries,

You ask why the badge with no colours?

But of course, let me repeat myself for the millionth time: ALL BRANDS (apart from Adidas probably who keep on with their teutonic styles, which if aesthetically is boring it isn' t that bad after all from a nostalgic "I remember my childhood days" point of view) COPY UMBRO' S INVENTIONS AND INTUITIONS AND STYLE, AND NIKE' S THE FIRST, silly bastards as they are.

Just look at the ManCity tonal badge of the Umbro 2012-2013 kit (or the third kit for that matter) for reference.

Hmmm. It *is* good to see something slightly different to a plain one-colour block, but as the design is printed on, rather than woven in, I can't help but think this will look really cheap.

Compare the Juventus and Inter home shirts; Juve have their stripes woven in, and Inter have theirs printed on. The difference is massive.

Gonna be contrarian here to 95% of these comments, but I really like this shirt, and am surprised there isn't more affection for the plaid, considering ManU's success with this on their home jersey last season. Also, I can't help but positively compare this with Liverpool's shambolic away and 3rd jerseys, vis a vis intelligent use of sophisticated shirt design. Meaning, Warrior is a perfect illustration of what you shouldn't be doing with modern design tools and techniques, whereas Nike's United away jersey is sophisticated, conceptual-for-a-reason, yet infinitely subtle. Love the dark blue and black, and as others have noted, the socks kick ass.

I think everyone is complaining about the crest just because it's Man Utd. The crest on Utd's last seasons away jersey was only one tone too.
City have a one colour crest on their away jersey too and yet no one seems to care just because it's gold for recent successes, even after they won nothing last year.

I love man u but for Gods sake! no new midfielders and now this. Nike have come up with some good kits this season but this is not one of them. But as i keep saying, the club have agreed to this ,so some of the blame has to lie with them. The Moyes backlash starts here!!
