Southampton 13/14 Adidas Home & Away Kits

Southampton Football Club unveiled its new Adidas home and away kits for the upcoming 13/14 campaign.

The 2013/14 season is the first covered by the Club's new partnership with sportswear giants adidas, who became the Official Technical Partner on 1st June.

Creative Football T-Shirts at Footytees.com - Featuring prints by a range of talented artists

Both the home and away kits include adidas's iconic three stripes, with the home strip featuring an gold trim on the shirt and shorts plus red-and-white hooped socks.

The new away shirt comes in stylish black with a prominent white v-neck and silver trim alongside white shorts and black socks.

The new kits also feature ClimaCool and ClimaLite technology – a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics designed to facilitate air flow to the skin and in key heat zones.

The new home shirt is priced at £50 in adult sizes and £40 for children. Youngsters' mini-kits – consisting of a shirt, shorts and socks – are also priced at £40.

They look good, but they could be a lot better. They just slapped a crest on a basic templates. Well, at least it's two different templates for hom and away.

Also, adidas have rendered one of the best club badges around as meaningless and monochrome...why???
The away kit is a reverse of Fulham's new home kit.
Very disappointing template efforts from adidas this season.

What can they do? They have a foreign owner who obviously has an input and he wants red shirts - without his £££ they would be playing Pompey next season. So the fans have to put up with it - similar to Cardiff.

2013-14. The season almost all (I know, not all, but most) of the worst kits designed ever. No thought for club history, certainly no thought for the fan, yet ironically this could be the turning point. I believe that this season will result in the lowest club shirt sales for many years and hopefully that act will make these fools realize that a shirt means so much - to every fan. While I accept you cannot get it right every time, I have never seen so many wrongs in kit design. The working people have better things to spend their hard earned (or benefit) cash on, we are not robots. We all have choices, and with ticket prices becoming absurd at certain grounds, I think we will see more declining attendances in the Premier League this season as well. Tough times, made tougher by idiot kit designers.

All the comments about the swansea kits apply equally here. Adidas really don't seem to be trying. Kit design in general is becoming too conformist and safe with traditional details being ignored for the sake of mass marketing and cheapness of production. The clubs are guilty too though. As i have said before the clubs ok these designs, they are not forced to accept them.I really don't know what the answer is.

Yeah, but they all conformed to our red, white, black colour template. Most fans loved he Keegan era kit - not just for the fact that it represented our best period, it was also great design. Most fans would have been more than happy with a revised version of that.

This new 'design' moves away from both our traditional colour template and stripes (of some form), and thus says nothing about our history and tradition (putting aside how bloody bland it is!). The new kit has a 10-15% approval rating from fans, which says it all. I really isn't hard to gt it right!

#BetterIntheSeventies is right, things will have to change sooner or later, these f@@@@ multinationals who in their clash for world domination have invented the "three kits per team a year" frenzy will have to die under their overproduction at some point. Let's hope it happens soon, people can't be that idiot.

In the meantime, congratulations: the Premier has turned into a monokit manufacturer championship like the soccer league in the States.
Or the Chinese league, with that lovely set of clownish colourful Nike outfits presented some months ago.

How many mistakes I one post?

Southampton and Sunderland traditionally both wear red and white STRIPES (they go down) not HOOPS which go ROUND.

West Ham and Aston Villa both wear Claret and Blue, not striped (I think Villa last had stripes in the 90's) - The reason they "look similar" is a West Ham players father won a full Aston Villa Claret and Blue kit in 1899 after beating 4 Villa players in a race at the Birmingham fair.

Now, don't we all feel better. :D  :-*

For a sponsor's logo that should look stupid, and an Adidas kit that should look like a boring template, these actually look quite nice and classy.

Do Southampton not bother with stripes anymore? This is an awful template as well, all of Adidas' kits are poor this season.

Why can't Adidas get it in to their pompous feckwitted brains that forcing a monochrome badge on fans is insulting and shows a complete disrespect for the club. Checking the history of most clubs shows that nearly all have modified or changed to some degree but usually with fan consultation

Too right. I bloody hate monochrome badges

 not a saints fan at all, but their past two kits have ruined their 'iconic' stripes... sinking like the titanic into the champo i'm afraid

Think everyone is using the word template in the wrong way the kits are not much difference in style slightly higher collar sunderland a are not bay wing but very similar but overall a very poor kit unfortunately clubs have not got much choice Adidas Nike puma so most clubs have a cheap look and look very similar

I think everyone is using the word "template" in exactly the right way. This is a different design to the new SAFC kit. You are right that all adidas kits, no matter which template is being used, are very similar. The same can be said for Nike and Puma too. Macron are the only company that seem to produce something fairly original for each of their clubs.

I've always had a soft spot for the Saints. Not anymore. It's enough using those silly thin stripes last year, I mean, there wasn't anything wrong with the design, it just wasn't Southampton. Then this. The badge is absolutely stupid and Adidas used the stupid Wings design and now the kit's even worse. Well done Adidas :P

I feel really sorry for southampton fans, you get to the premiership, survive ONE season with a pants kit, and then adidas roll out this even worse ensemble for the second season.
