Stockport County 13/14 Umbro Third Football Shirt

This is the new Stockport County 13/14 Third football shirt made by Umbro.

Last month Stockport County signed a kit deal for 2013/14 with local supplier Umbro. The deal will see Umbro supply an entire range of new kits including home, away and third choice strips for the new season.

County’s Chief Executive Officer Ryan McKnight said: “The kit deal we have struck with Umbro is part of our strategy to make football more affordable – for too long clubs in this country have profiteered from fans when selling replica kits, but we are probably the only club in the country to actively set out to reverse kit prices.

“We have worked tremendously hard with Umbro over recent months to get to this position and I want to thank them for sharing in the vision we have for the club.”

The brand new County Umbro shirts will retail for £34.99 – last year the equivalent price was £39.99.

Umbro is a company which boasts a long association with Stockport and spokesman Dave Kay says he was delighted to sign a partnership deal with County:  “We are a local company with long-established roots in the town,” said Dave.  “We are very proud to have County as our flagship partner for our relaunch in the UK and I am sure that the Blue and White Army will love our new designs.”

Umbro was originally founded in Wilmslow in 1924 and has always had a locally based Head Office (or has always been based in the region)

County’s Commercial Manager Phil Brennan has been heavily involved in producing the new shirts; he said: “We have been working very closely with Umbro for several months now to get these kits exactly right and I am sure County fans will be delighted with the new range.  I can’t give too much away, but there is a lot of history and heritage involved in the new designs, and I am confident that they will become big favourites with our supporters.”

Agreed, I've thought that they were the highest quality football shirt manufacturer in the past few years. Smart designs and unmatched quality IMO. They're usually consistent too, very few bad designs because they've mastered the craft of making simple yet gorgeous shirts.

Absolutely right.
This is fantastic news. Magnificent. Superb, The relaunch. Great They' re back.
Just what was needed right after the article saying that also the contract with NottForest had expired (and surprise! Adidas are in...)
Welcome back Umbro, and always with a new idea, this time with the price.
just wait and see how in a few months, after all brands copying your style, will suddenly start lowering prices as well... Love affair DeadZpur? THEY ARE MY MYTH

Nice one for a team in the Blue Square Bet North!
Would love to see them back where they belong. they are too big a club for that league and deserve Football League Football. Nice to see Umbro reaching out to small clubs instead of them getting Template after Template from big brands.

????

New shirts were £39.99 last year, £34.99 this year! A whopping saving of a whole fiver there! Big fookin' deal!

I think its an excellent initiative. Most other replica shirts are much more than that.

If something you bought went UP by 12.5% (roughly what this saving is) I'm sure you'd complain.

I'm delighted to see Umbro still around and with this pricing strategy are still making us rethink the replica shirt market.

Watched these lot against Forest Green this season. [censored] me what a baaaaaaaaaaad team. I think a Scottish 3rd Div team could match them.

Truly awful - decent fans that day.

As for the kit - a kit that Hull City rejected from a few seasons back...

After the disgraceful behaviour of some of their fans on the last day of the BSP season, they deserved to go down.

'A team no one gives a shit about'

No, its a team YOU don't give a shit about. Big difference.

While the behaviour by a minority of their supporters was disgraceful (throwing punches at their own players and the one lad punching Lee Vaughn - not to mention that the situation was not helped at all by Harriers supporters singing "going down, going down, going down" and "just because you're losing"), their genuine supporters (of which there were many that had made the trip down here) were very well behaved. While I was waiting to get into the ground a few Stockport supporters even said "hope you go up" as they walked past us.

No offence but Stockport had been in free fall for years so those who think they'll be back in the league soon might be disappointed. The shirt price reflects their lowly status more than any marketing strategy I thinks

Pics don't really show much but enough to say that it looks pretty cool - quite retro (especially the badge - which looks like the hero of the design) with some individual touches out of respect for the people of the area and the club. For all of those reasons I think its great and give it a high 8/10 8)

LOFC it was a tiny minority of 1800 fans who travelled to Kidderminster with no hope of staying up, overall the support was superb. They averaged 3640 at home and 500 away and this is coming from a Macc Town fan.

I'm sure the majority of the support was great- not denying that. However, you can't hide the fact that this was a disgrace by the rest of 'em and let their fans down. County have had the club damaged by that incident I'm sorry to say.

Umbro have hardly any teams to supply/design for now, but still bring out a template design, well done guys, i salute you!

Nike has practically killed Umbro in the kit making business, it purchased Umbro for $580 million in 2008 and took a substantial loss of $330 when they recently sold the company. But Nike knew what they were doing, they've used Umbro as a sacrificing lamb and took a short term loss for long term deals with Manchester City, England and even individual player sponsorships like Real Madrid’s Pepe.

I have a lot of friends from Stockport, and I respect the fans of Stockport County a lot.

The club has been through a lot in the last few years, but I really hope to see you back in the league soon.

The kit is nice, and Umbro always do a good job (even with templates).

For those taking the piss, (Paul with your earlier post), imagine what it would be like to see your club falling into non-league and then the Conference North. Non-League is a hard place to get back from, but I sincerely hope that County will be back one day.

Famous my arse. Stockport didn't get anywnear enough national media coverage for the behaviour of some of their fans at Aggborough last season.

After witnessing that, I'm glad this shirt will be worn in the regional tier of English football!
