Newcastle United has unveiled its brand new 19/20 home kit by Puma, which pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the club’s Inter-Cities Fairs Cup win.

Just like the black and white jersey proudly worn by the stars of 1969, the new home shirt will feature a familiar black round-neck collar with white trim, while a tonal crest will adorn the Magpies’ classic black and white stripes.

Below, the club's primary partner, FUN88, will proudly feature across the front of adult shirts.

The kit will again feature black shorts, while traditional black and white turnover socks - as worn by Joe Harvey’s triumphant side - also make a return.

The Magpies marked the 50th anniversary of the successful Fairs Cup campaign just last week, with 11th June 1969 the date of a 3-2 win away in Hungary which gave United a 6-2 aggregate victory over Újpest Dósza in a two-legged final.

apart from having a round neck it doesn't really look anything like the kit they wore when the won the fairs cup.

Its not the worst NUFC home shirt I've seen - at first glance, I like it more than at least 3 recent home kits - and I do like the colour-keyed crest. But it looks nothing like the 1969 shirt.

'pays tribute to' doesn't mean it has to copy or be a replica. a couple of nods is enough. nice shirt - overlarge sponsors logo though imo.

In that case all black and white stripe shirts must pay tribute .

Lovely shirt. Horrendous sponsorship.

I don't mind it. Shame about the sponsor though, couldn't it at least be b&w? Blue on the front with red numbers on the back (it's still striped!) is going to look ridiculous yet again.

Decent top, but, like most, ruined by sponsors

That sponsor is dogger, wish clubs saw beyond betting firms and went for local firms

Good to see Coloccini back modeling it

I get that you can’t do much with black ‘n’ white stripes, but Newcastle have had some lovely kits in the past. Puma should stick to trainers, all their kits look cheap

Better than some recent home kits, but not quite right somehow. Don't love the black sleeves, or the wide stripes, or the badge/logo being central and don't like sponsors... Apart from that great

The fairs Cup comparison is nothing more than a marketing joke! That shirt had thin stripes, the only similarity is the collar. Yet again, the sponsor ruins the shirt. They shouldn't allow the sponsors to be any more than 10% of the club shirt, it always looks awful.

Would look quite nice with a Newcastle Brown Ale logo or even McEwan's lager ... not that horrific chinese shite

Agree about sponsor. Could they sell blank? Maybe get more sales that way. I won't buy - agree with brown ale comments.

  1. No name

Such a shame about that sponsor. It's a Barry Crocker

  1. Chris Kamaramaramara

Unbelievable Jeff!!!!

overbranded with the puma logo's (too big) on the front and the arms but it's OK....

  1. Clive

Not for me, Clive. Looks like a fake from Mallorca.

  1. Jimmy Hill

Think the positioning of the puma, NUFC crest in a stacked style looks hideous - would of been better either side of the black stripe

  1. Ashura

I like it . Though I'm no fan of the rehashed collar.

To Commemorate Winning the Fairy Cup..Really ? still 65 YEARS and counting ...

  1. BWFC till........

This is proof that sponsorship has taken over, an average shirt which could have upgraded to good if more thought had been given rather than just how much money they can make from the sponsors, but perhaps it’s just typical of present day Newcastle!

Not good enough, I'm afraid. if it ad narrower stripes, and stripes on the sleeves, it could have the makings of a classic. However, this is about as memorable as Frank Pingel.

I guess that, because the geordies are fervent and blindly loyal supporters of their team, Puma can chuck out any old crap in the knowledge that it will sell in droves.

  1. chippy

65£ for replica lol modern football

  1. QPRPaul

Would be a million times better without the Puma logo on the front as it already has it on the sleeves. Sponsors logo is far too much and too low down due to everything else in the middle

  1. Ken Adams

Badge on the middle? ?

  1. AAL

A fairly good shirt design destroyed by the most horrible sponsor's logo

  1. Rich

I really like the fat stripes, just looks smarter. Badge in the middle, the kit is the nicest I've seen this season. Completely ruined by the sponsor.

  1. Pat Howard

Somehow broad stripes is just not Newcastle United FC. They need to stick to narrower stripes.

  1. hend

stunning shirt ruined by the sponsor. could've made it black and white and smaller, will be a classic
