Mexico's leading paint company teams up with Major League Soccer club in multiyear, multimillion-dollar deal; Historic Chivas USA jerseys emblazoned with Comex logo to debut May 20 at The Home Depot Center; Comex's Frazee Paint brand becomes Chivas USA's first ever Presenting Sponsor

In a marriage of two powerful Mexican brands, Club Deportivo Chivas USA, Major League Soccer's Mexican-owned, Los Angeles-based club, and Comex Group, Mexico's leading paint company and a worldwide leader, have teamed up in a landmark multiyear, multimillion-dollar agreement by which Comex becomes Chivas USA's exclusive jersey-front sponsor.

Under the terms of the multifaceted partnership, Chivas USA's jerseys will be emblazoned with the Comex logo, while Comex's Frazee Paint brand becomes Chivas USA's first ever Presenting Sponsor.

The historic announcement was made today by Antonio Cué, President and Co-Owner of Chivas USA, and Brian Martin, General Manager of Comex Paint USA, accompanied by Juan José Frangie, General Manager of Chivas USA's sister team Club Deportivo Guadalajara, in a press conference at Chivas USA's stadium, The Home Depot Center (Carson, Los Angeles County, California).

We are confident that together, Comex Group and Chivas USA will proudly represent Mexico in the United States and beyond," said Chivas USA President and Co-Owner Antonio Cué.

The new-look Chivas USA jerseys emblazoned with the Comex logo will make their historic debut at halftime of Chivas USA's rivalry match against the Los Angeles Galaxy, this Sunday, May 20 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The game, which marks the second Honda Super Clásico, or Los Angeles Derby, of 2007, is scheduled to kick off at 2:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationwide in the United States by Spanish-language network TeleFutura, as well as regionally by FSN PRIME TICKET and KTNQ 1020 AM Univision Radio.

Chivas USA is the very first U.S professional sports team to be sponsored by Comex Group, which, in turn, becomes the first Mexican company to sponsor the jersey front of a Major League Soccer club. The Comex logo will appear on the chest of Chivas USA game jerseys, both home and away, as well as on the team's warm-up jerseys and training gear.

Per the terms of the deal, Comex's U.S.-based Frazee Paint brand also becomes Chivas USA's first ever Presenting Sponsor, with an important presence in all of Chivas USA's home games at The Home Depot Center and many of the club's community activities. The Frazee Paint brand will appear on the team's press backdrops, marketing and promotional materials. In addition, Frazee Paint becomes an Official Partner of the Bell Gardens Sports Center, the $10 million sports complex opened by the City of Bell Gardens, California, and home to Chivas USA's Main Academy and Youth Development teams, with related venue signage, programming elements, marking and use of the facility. In just two short years, the Bell Gardens Sports Center has played host to Chivas USA teams and Mexican First Division clubs, as well as Chivas' historic 100-Hour Soccer Game and 'Sueño MLS', the club's highly successful open player tryouts.

Starting in 2007, Major League Soccer clubs are for the first time able to sell advertising space on the front of team jerseys, in a groundbreaking move in the U.S. sports landscape that mirrors lucrative sponsorship platforms in soccer leagues in Mexico and the rest of the world.

I really don't see the point of an away kit if they use the same colours, same template of shirt, just switched the red with the white, and white with red.
