MILAN - In a press conference at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday, Nike presented F.C. Internazionale's new away shirt for the 2007/08 season, specially designed for the Italian champions' centenary year.

Nike drew inspiration from the tradition and values that have always distinguished the glorious history of Inter. With a red cross on a white background, and the coat of arms of Milan, the new away shirt recalls the kit worn by the Società Sportiva Ambrosiana, highlighting F.C. Internazionale's belonging to the city.

The placing of the logos is particularly innovative, in that they do not reduce the authenticity of the design. At the centre of the cross is the latest Scudetto won by Massimo Moratti's team. The Nike logo is positioned top right, while the club's new logo, created for the centenary year, is in the centre, immediately below the Pirelli logo.

"Today Nike celebrates with F.C. Internazionale the winning of an extraordinary Scudetto, distinguished by unique records," said Nike Italy general manager Matthew Cook. "We are particularly happy to present the new away shirt of the Italian champions, an homage to the club's glorious history."

The shirts to go on sale are enhanced by the classic Inter Scudetto on the back of the neck. The body of the shirt features the ultra light Nike Sphere Dry technology for maximum ventilation and sweat-wicking. The shorts are black with a red lace up to maintain the retro style of the past season, and present a longer wearability, while the Nike swoosh and Inter's centenary logo are placed on either side. The socks, also black, feature a white and red turn-down top that recalls the dominant colours of the shirt, the name Inter, and the Nike swoosh.

"It's a togetherness of tradition and what could be the future of Inter. I like it, both sentimentally and emotionally."

F.C. Internazionale's new home shirt for the 2007/08 season will be presented during the first-team's pre-season training camp in July.

The new away shirt will be on sale at all the main Nike sales points from Monday 28 May.
