The new Nike Mercurial Vapor 4 football boots, the next evolution in the Nike Vapor series will have their official launch on the 1st February 2008. This all new Mercurial Vapor, the fourth in the prestigious series, has been designed with one thing in mind: pure speed. Every contour, every element and every feature has been engineered to the highest aerodynamic specifications to ensure this becomes one of the fastest production football boots.
Weighing in at just 230g, the Mercurial Vapor 4 is one of the lightest boots available. New technologies includa a Fibre-composite sole and patented Vapor Traction System which also offers improved traction and comfort - whether in firm or soft ground sole plates. But the technology doesn't stop there. An injected TPU heel wrap with glass-fibre insert and lateral heel pods provide extra strength and protection to the ankle. Add to this a Moulded E.V.A. sock-liner will cushion impact at high speed. The new Nike Mercurial Vapor IV ad campaign shows the Manchester United winger going faster than ever before — and beating the world's most powerful road car in a head-to-head race.
The viral, launched officially on www.nikefootball.com tomorrow, shows the Portugal ace coming out on top against the Bugatti Veyron — capable of 0-60mph in less than three seconds as well as a 253mph top speed — thanks to his new Nike Mercurial Vapor IV boots (below).
Ronaldo, who will play in the boots for the first time against Newcastle tomorrow, said: "The thing I most liked was seeing the car accelerating with me ... and then me winning."
