On Friday, San Lorenzo de Almagro launched their new 08/09 football kits made by Lotto. The party was held at noon at the corner of San Ignacio and Boedo, in the City of Buenos Aires.

With the presence of historic glories of the club and top models like Jéssica Cirio and Carolina Oltra, among others, presented the compleet collection that Lotto produced for 2008, the year marking the centenary of the club. San Lorenzo de Almagro is based in the barrio (neighbourhood) of Boedo, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its colors are blue and red vertical stripes.

In the early 1900s, a street gang based in the Almagro barrio (neighborhood) would invite gangs from other neighborhoods to play street football by writing in graffiti: Los Forzosos de Almagro desafían (Almagro's strongmen dare you).

As tramway and bus lines extended into Almagro, street playing became dangerous; following an accident in which a tramway car seriously injured a footballer, Catholic priest Lorenzo Massa started hosting the games in the backyard of his parish church in México avenue. Under his guidance, a football club was formally established April 1, 1908 and named San Lorenzo de Almagro honoring both Father Massa and the barrio.

According to the San LorenzoUSA.com site, the third option (a black T-shirt with red births, which is also attached photo) was not submitted because it was not approved. The main sponsor of the team continues to be Wal-Mart.

Nice shirts, but looking at some of these South American launches one thing
keeps leaping to my mind. The amount of trouble a British club would get into
allowing gorgeous young women to wear their new kits for a press launch. You'd
never hear the last of it, and the menopausal feminists and hermaphrodite
weirdos who now run the UK would be apoplectic with rage.

Yes, but South American women are hotter anyway. :grin

That is most definately the best way to launch a new kit. Ding Dong.
