Nike got together with German cult club FC St. Pauli from Hamburg. It was in the mid-80's that St. Pauli's transition from a traditional club into a "Kult" club began. The club was also able to turn the location of its ground in the dock area part of town St. Pauli near Hamburg's famous Reeperbahn - centre of the city's nightlife and its red-light district - to its advantage.

An alternative fan scene emerged built around left-leaning politics and the "event" and party atmosphere of the club's matches. Supporters adopted the skull and crossbones as their own unofficial emblem. Importantly, St. Pauli became the first team in Germany to officially ban rightwing, nationalist activities and displays in its stadium in an era when fascist inspired football hooliganism threatened the game across Europe.

That is also clearly translated into the Dunk Pack that they have worked with Nike on. The pack consists of a Nike Dunk Hi and Dunk Lo. The Dunk Hi comes in black the Dunk Lo in white, both featuring nice details, including prints and tags. Also the materials have been nicely chosen, including premium leathers, suede and oestrich on the swoosh.

The Dunk Lo also comes with some embossed graphics, that stay very subtle on the shoe. Both sneakers come with nice woven laces, mixing the colors that are also represented on the sneakers. The Nike x FC St. Pauli Dunk Pack will be hitting stores mid May.

The white one will be released exclusively in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Dunk High will also be coming to other European countries. Thus the Dunk Lo is limited to 250 pieces and the Dunk High to 500.
