Tottenham Hotspur 08/09 home away 3rd Puma kits
Tuesday, 06 May 2008
Tottenham Hotspur launched their new Home, away and 3rd kits for the 08/09 season made by puma. at 9.30pm the players unveiled the new kit at a special unveil event taking place in central London. The new kits were modelled by three of the squad’s senior players, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Jonathan Woodgate. The trio were also joined by some of the Club’s brightest young talent - Troy Archibald-Henville, Danny Rose and Tomas Pekhart.
The new Home kit will be launched and available to purchase in store on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The Away and Third kits will be available to pre-order from May 7, 2008.
The home shirt marks a return to the traditional colours with a white shirt, dark blue shorts and blue and white hooped socks. The authentic home shirt itself features a revolutionary double layer construction. The inner layer is especially designed to lift moisture away from the skin. The second layer then transports the moisture to the outside of the shirt to effectively keep the player cool and dry. PUMA’s unique ‘Kold Fusion’ technology is used to join the anatomically shaped panels together to create a stitch-less football shirt.
The replica home shirt, (featuring styling from the authentic shirt but using a single-layer fabric construction) will go on sale at the Club’s Megastore in Tottenham High Road on Friday evening at midnight. One fan, chosen at random, will be given the opportunity to lead the teams out onto the pitch the following Sunday when we take on Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Not only will all the fans at the midnight opening be amongst the first in the world to own the new shirt but they will also have the opportunity to visit the home dressing room, walk down the tunnel at White Hart Lane and have their photo taken with the Carling Cup.
Thee away shirt also uses a single-layer fabric construction but of a different material to the replica home shirt. It appears, along with shorts and socks, in light blue.
Exclusive to Spurs, the black/white/gold combination that makes up the third strip is a tribute to the iconic PUMA KING football boot which is marking the 40th year since it was first worn by Eusebio.
The senior squad will wear the new home kit for the last game of the season against Liverpool on Sunday.
Just as last year, the Club is revealing all three kits at the same time, allowing fans to review all three kits before deciding which to buy. Sales of last year’s kits broke all Club records and PUMA replica kits continue to be popular amongst fans.
The logo of the Club’s sponsor MANSION appears in Mandarin Chinese script on the away and the third kit.
Tottenham Hotspur Executive Director, Paul Barber said: "Developing a series of kits to rival last year’s phenomenally successful 125 range was never going to be easy. Alongside PUMA however, we feel that this range not only provides the squad with latest and necessary kit technology to compete at the highest levels, but also captures the essence of the Spurs brand."
PUMA UK’s Head of Sport, Richard Callaway said: "We have worked extremely closely with the Club in developing a really strong and exciting new range of Tottenham Hotspur kits. The new home jersey incorporates PUMA’s latest technologies, and the 3rd kit takes its inspiration from the iconic King range. We believe that everyone involved with the Club will be proud to wear the new kits."
another big innovative year for the design team at puma, with another vastly different spurs kit. I don't mind the collar, but it's just so unimaginative, yet again.
what happened to the good old days of kit design? Honestly it has all gone pants.
I have to say, the template for the away kit would have looked nice on the home kit. But enough with the red M, enough with the chinese writing already!
The home shirt is great! It's the best one since puma came along, although, it tires me to see that they have changed all three kits again!
...i bet Reading's new shirt will use their current template.
None of the newer flashier templates for us lower placed Puma teams, oh no.
i love the light blue but for once they need to keep some kind of similarity in the kit....i hesitate to purchase a replica knowing it'll be outdated by the next year
I like the thin V collar, the blue stripes on the sides and new Sponsor layout and the hooped socks as described.
Away shirt 1/5
Bad colour, and what is thata trim on the right shoulder???
It looks like Man U back stripe on actual shirt.
3rd shirt Hall of Shame
I don't like the colour and I can't stand this Puma template. I hate all nationals Puma teams away shirts, and unfortunately we'll gonna find this shame in every Puma clubs.
Thats ledly king not jenas, 1st kit great, 2nd ok, 3rd really nice! does anyone know if the 3rd kit had embroided logo? it reminds me of the chocolate kit.
Nice kit designs, very simple but elegant also. The home one is a lot better than in previous seasons with a nice thin v-neck that brings back memories of years gone by
It's nice to see the home kit in it's white n navy blue again. Not to sure about the double layer thingy, nike and adidas already did it a few seasons ago.
The home kits is just how I imagined it to be, having already seen the Italy home kit and the rest of the Puma national line ups. It looks a little to familair to spurs 2nd adidas home kit though.
I still thing that kappa made the best kits~
So we take an Arsenal away kit (down to the socks), change the colour and put a dead chicken on it and hopefully that will get us 4th place. Laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.
1st kit- nice, simple, love the socks 5/5
2nd kit- nice template, horrible colour 3/5
3rd kit- love the colour- but whats the stripe on the shoulder all about?
and please...DITCH THE CHINESE WRITING!!!
Could this be next years team? It would see us bring in Kameni(espanyol)Bentley(Blackburn)Kranjcar(Pompey)and Villa(Valencia)Also seen us linked with Jaaskelainen+Eto'o(both quality) and Lassan Diarra(ex-Arsenal rubbish )
I know money for new players and results on the pitch and trophies in the cabinet is what really matters, but for fucks sake, NO MORE RED SHIT ON THE BEAUTIFUL WHITE TOTTENHAM TOP!!!!!!
I'm an Arsenal fan, but I have to give props where due.
1st Kit Nice, 2nd Kit could definitely be better but 3rd Kit wow, i'd buy it if i didn't hate spurs so much,
Shame how they make 2nd Kits crap so fans would be forced to buy all three.
What changed?! I know Spurs play in white (obviously) but seriously, there doesn't seem to have been any major change in the shirts since Puma started making them. They are quite boring i think
Quite like the stripey socks, but aside from that, what's new? Totally agree with a previous poster about the black kit - what's it got to do with Tottenham?
Billy, that is Leds in the top picture, but JJ was at the launch in the away shirt, which is where the text in this article has been "borrowed" from.
P.S. Nice when a few aggressive morons come out to play for something as simple as a strip launch! And I think Tottenham were wearing white for a fair few years before it became a Woolwich away shirt!
I like the home kit, but i think the sponsor may be a bit big, i mean a symbol and two lines of writing is a bit much.
Away kit, i like the colour but not the collar.
3rd, same.
As a liverpool fan who has had the home shirt with the big floppy collar the last two years, im speaking from experience that collars are not good on football shirts.
the white trim on the right side is from Puma's King line which pays tribute to johan cruyff. it has to do with the fact that he tore off some adidas lines on his holland shirts back in the day because he was a Puma sponsored player. it will be scene on other team and retail kits aswell.
Ah, I'm getting old. The Chinese characters make them what? Dope? Does that mean good? How did that become a reference to good? Someone pass me my pipe and slippers, I want to sit with my sheepdog and watch the news.
Mind, it's about time Spurs released some new kits onto the market. Wait ten minutes, there'll probably be a yellow one too.
borussia dortmund had three home shirts this year; DO NOT TELL daniel levy, don't give him ideas!
Ten puma shirts since 2006. It won't be long until we get a new kit every game.
I think the third kit is chocolate and gold? Looks a bit like it. I actually don't mind the third kit.
Of course, we could play in pink leopardskin jumpsuits for all i cared if it helped us get into the champion's league.
I like the overal design for the kits.
What I don't like is the fact that the sponsor has grown again, so it's displayed REALLY big in my opinion.
Another thing I don't like are the two stripes on the 3rd kit which are running down the right sleeve.
the home kit has grown on me
it's really traditional
and it has the best socks ever!
away kit is shockingly bad. It's disgusting!!
Third kit is confusing
part of me wants to know why the fuck we're making ourselves wear adverts for a pair of boots, the other half is wondering how in gods name did puma come up with such a sexy shirt!!
But anyway
i'm getting home
Why is everyone complaining about the colour of the away shirt? It is very nice and much better than any umbro kits. Go to be in the top 4 kits for 08/09 so far
Unimaginative pap, the vintage look is crap, think Spurs should go back to the Hummel-era if they want a template for retro designs. Good job Spurs aren't as boring to watch as their shirts are to look at...
