New Kilmarnock 08-09 Home & Away football kits E-mail

Kilmarnock fc unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2008/2009 season

Kilmarnock fc unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2008/2009 season. Founded in 1869, "Killie" are the oldest professional club in Scotland. The club's foundation dates to the very earliest days of organised football in Scotland, when a group of local cricketers looking for a sporting pursuit to occupy them outwith the cricket season formed a football club in 1869. Originally they played rugby rules, but the difficulty in organising fixtures and the growing influence of Queen's Park F.C. soon persuaded them to adopt the association code instead. These origins are reflected to this day by the name of the club's home ground - Rugby Park.

Although not amongst the founder members of the Scottish Football Association in 1873, Kilmarnock did join in time to compete in the inaugural Scottish Cup tournament in 1873-74. Their 2-0 defeat against Renton in the First Round on October 18 1873 is thought to have been the first match ever played in the competition.

avatar no kit supplier?

the club have ditched Lotto, and will be launching it's own brand of strips
under the name 1869.
Bhoy   |2008-05-10
I suppose it is not bad for a club supplying its own kit. I give it 4/5.
FDV   |2008-05-11
avatar Yep...really lotto.

The home kit has less or more the same Atletico Mineiro 08
template
Ryan   |2008-05-11
Not bad for a club that only has about a dozen supporters... :p
Prastama     |2008-05-11
They should put the name 1869 in front in order to finish the work. Without it,
the shirt seems hmmmmm not completed yet. But the designs, home n away, are ok
tough.

I love the tops, but the shorts look cheapy and dumpy and like they're not cut
right. Very sharp tops though!

The interesting point about the kits is there is no 3rd kit.
The purple kit
would clash with those who wear blue so in allot of ways it seems redundant
already.

Decent home top, plain, simple but thats all you need......

I am not surprised Killie dumped Lotto. I believe all the other pro clubs in
Scotland have also ditched the Italian makers.
As for the new kit, I don't
think making your own kits is a good idea, let the suppliers deal with that and
the club get on with putting a team on the park.

who makes the new strips it only says 1869 for when they were founded
Glasgow Killie Squirell   |2008-05-21
Yeah, the new strips look good. I've never been a big fan of having the badge
centred though. It should be positioned to the right of the top as you look onto
it (the left of the chest while wearing it) so that it covers the heart. They
are still made by lotto though, and are almost a straight copy of the Atletico
Miniero centenary strips. The strange horseshoe shape on the shorts is a bit
rubbish but I like the strip in general. Nice and simple. I do wonder why we
can't follow Falkirk again and go back to Puma?

Last thing,... this is now
another season that Killie have released new strips, we haven't had the same
home top for two seasons running now since we won the Scottish Cup in 97! Huh!

i love the tops but shorts look cheap and crappy :p
Euan   |2008-06-13
I'm so glad they've ditched the minging yellow away kit and come up with a
decent alternative. Nice one killie
ktid   |2008-06-24
the horse shoe is for good luck

i wonder if killie will ever get rid of 1869
coz they cant make them for another team and the 2 shirts have the same design
except for the stripes
