Galatasaray 2008/09 Adidas 3rd football shirt E-mail
Sunday, 11 May 2008

Galatasaray unveiled their new 08/09 3rd football shirt made by adidas in their club shop.

Galatasaray unveiled their new 08/09 3rd football shirt made by adidas in their club shop. Galatasaray was founded in the autumn of 1905, by Galatasaray Lisesi students as a football club. In 1905, during the era of the Ottoman Empire, there were no laws for associations so the club could not be registered officially, but, after the 1912 Law of Association, the club registered legally. Galatasaray's first president was Ali Sami Yen.

" Our aim is to play together like Englishmen, to have a colour and a name and to beat the non - Turkish teams. "

Ali Sami Yen

This was how the first Turkish football club was founded. At first, the colours of the Galatasaray Sports Club were red and white. These are the colours in Turkish flag. However, Turkish Republic was not founded at that time. Therefore, this inspiration caused repressive administration of the day feel uncomfortable and the administration hounded the footballers. For this reason, the colours were changed.

New colours were chosen as red and yellow. Ali Sami Yen stated, "We were imagining brightness of yellow - red fire over our team and thinking that it would carry us from one victory to another." It eventually did.

I don't like the all red back
Prastama     |2008-05-11
It's too simple. Adidas should put another red space in each side
Al   |2008-05-11
huh

why do the three stripes go all the way down?!

:?
mikie   |2008-05-11
Because they can:p
Jon   |2008-05-11
How is this the third kit though? I thought Galatasaray wore a red and yellow
home shirt anyway, so what would be the point in this shirt then? It looks nice
though, the front stripe kinda reminds me of a previous Adidas design from
roughly 10 years ago.

YEA WATS THE POINT IN HAVING A THIRD SHIRT THE SAME COLOUR AS THE HOME SHIRT
UNLESS ITS A MISS PRINT OR A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HOME SHIRT LIKE MAN U DID IN 1999.
Anonymous   |2008-05-12
That's because the Home Shirt won't be yellow-red.
Turk1905   |2008-05-12
But Gala wear yellow-red always
Emre   |2008-05-12
This shouldnt be third shirt for Galatasaray. I didnt like it at all. Our away
shirt should be straight white and third one should be straight yellow. Home
must be classic as we used in 1905..!
Selim   |2008-05-12
guess they will weir this one in the champions league
Kev   |2008-05-12
It's nice... for adidas. Growing tired of many of their shirts, Need to
re-retire the three stripes on the sleeves. Boring.

after all these panels on season 07/08 on home shirt it's a good idea to
simplify shirt at all. It somehow made me feel tired while watching the
match.
but on new season shirt I did not like the color yellow and red as well.
as if they are not the colors of Galatasaray?! should strictly be checked by adi
and the club.
anyway I have to confess I love this 3D crest really, looks
expensive.
wish a successful season...

Galatasaray has been using these colours since 2005 as they were the first
colours that we used in 1905 - 1950's. From 1950's to 2005 we had used
red-yellow colours with different tones because of the sponsor brands. These
dark red and yellow are our originall colours and they have been already trade
marked.
lonesome   |2008-05-14
for sure they are. however it seems colors should be more bright & slightly
lighter. don't you think so? I'll buy one of these and check once again when
it's on my body new design looks great and this is the club I do support in
Super league anyway

Its more a "fan" jersey and a specail for the for the championship this
year.
So you can buy as a Fan the classic diveded red-yellow home and a
different red-yellow one.
I do not think that GS will wear them in more than 5
matches this year.
In 2 months the other 3 new one will be presented
1) HOME:
classic "divided" (maybe with white shorts. still unclear. But it will
be the real GS diveded one. Not like the home in the last 3 years)

2) HOME:
classic white (like 1975/1976)

3) ALTERNATIVE: this one

4) UEFA matches:
Orange

wot an excellent website!!!

1 has already mentioned that the orange shirt is
a xcombination of red and yellow and was requested by a sponsor company..
industrial football.......

but our classic shirt the "divided"
shirt (parcali) will have an excellent come back to its originality..

the
current chairman is 1 that likes 2 b unique to his clubs colours and
culture..

my ideal

home: divided red yellow, as plain as possible

away:
plain white with red and yellow adidas stripes

3.kit: black with red
stripes and yellow trimmings..
galatasaray1905   |2008-06-11
its alright but it could of been better :p
Nick   |2008-06-11
It is smart but typical adidas-maybe the Spain 3rd kit could be a possible away
kit with Liverpool style neck and cuffs, and the home kit could be Red&Yellow
halves and Typical 8/9 adidas stripes with a French style coller and Spain style
thin stripes in contrasting red&yellow.Maybe.
