West Ham United unveiled their new away kit for the 2008-09 season made bij Umbro. The state of the art sky blue strip has been unveiled today with homegrown players Mark Noble, James Tomkins and Freddie Sears all delighted to get the exclusive first look at what they will be wearing with pride in the new season. It will be officially launched on Thursday 22 May and be available to buy at both club stores - Lakeside and the Stadium - and also via the online Megastore.
The new away kit will see the club revert to traditional sky blue for the first time since the 2004/05 campaign and will evoke memories of classic players and teams from over the years. Although there is a firm recognition of the West Ham United heroes of the past, the new shirt, shorts and socks have all been created using the latest in sports technology to form a kit that is visually imposing and performance enhancing.
The striking design features the logo of club sponsors XL Holidays, the woven/embroidered club crest and the club's other main colours of claret and white in an innovative style. The new away shirt is made of a mesh body fabric that is lightweight and breathable with a vented underarm panel to allow optimum heat transfer and a back panel featuring a zonal bodymap design. Whether worn by you or the players, the entire kit will provide a fitting look for West Ham United as the club strives for success in 2008/09.
i like that. Good to see umbro producing good shirts again. Maybe its the nike influence?? Now just change that chav monstrosity of an england home shirt!!
I don't use to give 5/5,coz in my opinion the only shirt that deserves 5/5 is France 1986 kit..

It's both classic and modern, and the way the WHU crest looks on the claret and white panel is absolutely amazing.
C'mon Umbro,that's why I've loved so much this brand in 90's..
The only bug is the word Holidays under XL...
but anyway..in August I'm going to London and it will be mine!
XL asked for the word Holdays to be added for the same reason that Mansion added Casino & Poker to the Spurs kit, no sod knew what XL or Mansion did aaprt from supporters of the clubs.
Does antone know if west ham are getting a new home kit as well? the current home kit is being sold cheap from the megastore which normally is a sign theres a new kit on the way

The the whole i reckon the kit will grow on me, but 4 now its a 1/5

In the hospital when they come to take away your bed pan, they'll be wearing this. Look like a bunch of male nurses and the male part is open to debate.
Its not too bad, improvement on last seasons, but I wanna see a new home kit as well, n hopefulli it wont be exactly the same as Villa.
