Olympique de Marseille Away 2008-2009 Adidas kit E-mail
Saturday, 17 May 2008

olympique_de_marseille-08-09-away-kit-adidas.jpg

Olympique de Marseille unveiled their new away kit for the 08/09 season made by adidas. The originality comes from its printed jacquard. The design is very "today" and with this trendy design, cut and polo style collar, the away jersey has everything to seduce supporters so that they can wear the colours of their club to the stadium, and outside on a daily basis. According to tradition, the other 2 official jerseys 08-09 (home and third) will be presented later.

avatar Ah ah ah...what a brilliant shirt!
4 / 5 !
It recalls late 80's, Holland euro 88 shirt,or Arsenal yellow away shirt..very good

Very cool the jaquard design
I hope the jaquard is also on the back..

Verycool,I hope to see other teams wearing this template..
like Newcastle,or ASSE..
Prastama     |2008-05-17
It doesn't look like a football shirt for me!!
Frax  - Design   |2008-05-17
" The design is very "today" "
Ehm...no, it's very nineties. But still, not bad. 3/5
Jay   |2008-05-17
I am APPALLED! This has to be a joke. After the sheer beuty of last season's orange shirt they create this monstrosity! I think a little bit of sick has just come up into my mouth.
hellyes4cress   |2008-05-17
The 80's are returning igh :upset

The above shows a representation of the new OM home shirt. It seems a bit basic but the city crest is a fantastic touch. Marseille only has one professional team (correct me if I'm wrong) so it really is the club of the people of the city and represents the city against the rest of France.

I don't know how much truth is in this design but I'm hoping the crest part of it.
Jay   |2008-05-17
It just gets worse.

I don't think this is the home shirt but it may be a "leisure" top of some sort. Hideous.

btw, the post about the club crest was me too.

Love the Champions League patch on the next one. Wishful thinking:

Like the most realistic home one anyway.

This has to be the best new shirt release.
Retro is back so get over it people and if anyone says this is rubbish then you are simply in denial or have no style what so ever,
Granted its a bit chavvy but look past that and focus on it being more retro and then its just awesome.
Kev   |2008-05-19
Totally agree

And have we reached the stage where saying chav is now naff? Whereas wearing chav styles might be ironic cutting edge? :p

I've just confused myself
Nivag   |2008-05-17
I want, I want, I want :grin

Don Karnage   |2008-05-17
The shirts we have seen so far this year haven't been spectacular...but then this one pops up!

It is a masterpiece and by the best shirt I have seen so far this year!

btw
Any news about AS Roma? or any other of the Italian clubs? Milan, Inter, Juventus etc.
Supporter Pergocrema   |2008-05-17
Very nice kit. Remember the 80's style.
Supporter Pergocrema   |2008-05-17
I hope that ac milan 3rd kit have similar style, but i don't think... :?
Spero ke lo stile della 3a maglia del milan sia simile (ovviamente con fondo nero e inserti rossi), ma non penso sarà così...
leEDs   |2008-05-17
I never thought I'd be a Marseille fan but this shirt has made me into one. This is a brave shirt from adidas, it's so easy to roll out the same templates with club colours and not design something interesting in an away shirt. Hats off to then, where do I get one?!
Alien_   |2008-05-17
Is it 100% wool ? :p

seriously, what a terrible shirt...
adoq   |2008-05-19
haha, i hope it is. this is so golf!

fu**ing brilliant!!!
great idea for a shirt design!
definetely deserves 5Stars

quite unusual kit
not my cup of tea imho but it's good to see some innovative designs these days
Sam     |2008-05-17
Best kit revealed this season so far

love the argyles, the idea that its a football shirt but can be worn as a leisure shirt is fantastic

great work from adidas

spaz   |2008-05-18
freaking amazing shirt! i would definitely want one.
Sid   |2008-05-18
I think this could take football shirts into a different level... I mean, shirts will bo no longer just for playing... can be also to go out... and that's just awesome
mark   |2008-05-18
looks like a crap golf shirt
alext   |2008-05-18
possibly the best shirt ive ever seen
Gervillian Swike   |2008-05-18
Great colours, innocative design...yes, this is a cracking kit. Fair play, Adidas has put out some utter rubbish over the last two decades, but this is absolutely superb. Only criticism - it looks like the design doesn't continue onto the back of the shirt - but maybe that'll look good in the flesh too.
Jon   |2008-05-18
I know people reckon it looks chavvy-like but fair do's its a great looking shirt. Adidas seem to let go of themselves when designing kits for Marseille, e.g. that bright orange one from last season, not so much the combination with the sky blue but also the print design all over the shirt too.

Also it's not the first time Adidas have made a kit with a jacquard print on the front, the Belgium away shirt from 1984 was very much like the tennis shirt design, but with black, yellow and red.
mon cheri   |2008-05-19
It's just stunning

Thank you for the picture of this kit in action. I love it even more than I did before. Absolutely marvelous!
Nick  - MarseilleAway   |2008-05-19
[color=teal]It is beautifull-sort of reminds me of the Belgium white with argyle print back in the early 80s'. Plus it does make you think that the home kit will be a variation on the theme with an argylly horizontal stripe
across the chest, regards to the dumping of the orange kit-Marseille(and all French clubs aside Lyon) change 3 kits every season-this begs the questioin how long is an acceptable lengh of time to keep kits?In an ideal world I would keep kits for 3 years, changing the home 1 year, the away the next year and the 3rd the final year thus guarenteeing different designs and choice each year(training kits etc would reflect the colours) plus if you didn't like the kit wait until the following year. Of course it would never happen but there you go.
Doosrah   |2008-05-19
A modern classic. Well done Marsaille for pushing the boat out and going with this design
adoq   |2008-05-19
Ok, are they playing football or golf?

to some it may be good design, but for me I'm a bit sketchy about it...
min   |2008-05-21
i think this design is really original for a football shirt, definitely my favourite of the 08/09 kits so far

OMG That Is Just The Coolest Kit :grin

The Pringle Pattern is brilliant!
get a clue   |2008-05-23
God this is just horrendous. In five years, we'll look back at this piece of junk and wonder how in the hell someone could actually come up with this.

I'm fed up with this marketing bullshit.

Come on, don't you think this is getting out of hand? This season Marseille hosted Liverpool in the Champions League, and they played with orange shirts whereas Liverpool players had black shirts... I guess th historic colors and jerseys dont mean anything anymore. It's a shame.

To those claiming that it's a cool vintage jersey, get a clue, how is this vintage?
PAUL WH  - I DON'T LIKE IT     |2008-05-24
THIS SHIRT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING A CHAV WOULD WEAR, IAM NOT LIKING IT. SITCK TO NORMAL TYPES OF PATTERN :upset
