AS Roma 2008-2009 Home & Away Kappa Kits

AS Roma revealed their new 08/09 kappa home, away and goalkeeper kits during the Italian Cup victory celebrations on the 24th of may. They are not yet officially released on the AS Roma website or shop so we have to wait for some quality pictures of the new 2008/09 Kappa kits.

Roma's colours of maroon red with a golden yellow trim represents the traditional colours of the Eternal City, the official seal of the comuni features the same colours. The gold symbolizes God in Roman Catholicism, while the maroon represents imperial dignity. White shorts and black socks are usually worn with the maroon red shirt, however in particularly high key games the shorts and socks are the same colour as the home shirt.

The kit itself was originally worn by Roman Football Club; one of the three clubs who merged to form the current incarnation in 1927. Because of the colours they wear, Roma are often nicknamed i giallorossi meaning the yellow-reds. Roma's away kit is traditionally white, with a third kit changing colour from time to time.

Thanks to FDV

3/5

I like the orange seams on the home kit, but I think there is lack of orange in the collar.
From the back it seems a training kit with the orange only on the seams.

The away kit is very much better than previous one thanks to orange and maroon trims. But I hate the big kappa logos on the shoulders.

This will be the ch.league kit ,coz I think that like last season in the serie A the shirts will have the Italian Cup badge on the left with kappa smaller in the middle.

Furthermore I\'ve to say that if AS Roma will be acquired by the American George Soros, kappa will be probably replaced by a great kit supplier like Nike already in the 2008/09 season

I don\'t expect shirt sales in the UK to be very high with a sponsor like that - Wind

They may as well have \"Flatulence\" written across the front of their shirt

All Kappa seem to be doing in the last 5 or 6 years or so is recycle old designs, change the material a bit and call them completely new. This new style is not a lot different to the kits they made in 2002, and 2005 - same stitching, same collar, etc.

This new kit isn\'t a million mile away from the previous kit, or indeed the kits worn in 01/02 and 02/03.

John,
I agree with you, there seems to be this feeling with Kappa that as long as it is tight it is right.
When was the last time they came up with something stunning& why are all these clubs joining them when the kits look so bland.
I think they need to employ new designers.
It is a shame with Roma because they always have had the wonderfull colours/colour combinations.
But yeah they could be better off at Puma,Adidas,Umbro or Nike.Probablly get more money off them as well.

these shirts are pretty much really similar to season 2007/08... in the background we can see the 3rd shirt. In conclusion, same old Roma... same old shirts!!!

Very similar but still lovely tops. I have the 2005 Tottenham home top that is the same exact template as the \"new\" home top but no matter what it still looks good and is very classy. I also see nothing wrong with the sponsor. So what.... It has Wind on the top. only kid\'s joke around saying wind means farting.

As a strong Roma supporter I must say these are very nice. Kappa is LOVED by the Roma fans so that should not change, even if Soros comes in as owner. Why would he do that? The home kits are strong reminders of the last Scudetto in 2001 with the orange trim. The away are nice with red kappa logo on one sleeve and an orange one on the other. Some of you say they are bland because they aren\'t much different from last season. Well, why mess with a good thing? It doesn\'t take major changes to make for a nice kit.

Kappa, Diadora - good Italian style and fittings.
Ok this new kit isnt that far off from last years but there isnt another kit like it. the Champs Lg kit from 2004/05 white with red/yellow trim thru the centre has been given a place in the Guggenheim Museum in New York representing style in Sport.
I fear if Nike took over then thry would just churn out the usual baggy unfitted smock made of their \'funny\' material.
AS ROMA are my team and one thing that makes me happy is that the merchandise isnt available high street for every tom censored and harry to wear ala BARCA, JUVE, VALENCIA, MILAN MADRID etc,etc
Giallorossi worn by the true fan!
My fave Roma kit? - Kappa long sleave 2002/03

In my opinion Kappa style is alway the same and too simple.....but I\'ve also to say that when ASRoma wears Kappa, there will often be a great season:
2001: Scudetto
2002: Italian Supercup
2007: Italian cup
2008: Italian cup and Italian Supercup (Scudetto lost only for 3points...)

......for this reason...I love Kappa!!
