meval   |2008-06-05
What happend to Arsenals white sleeves? dont realy know. They supposed to be our tradition. other than that, just an average shirt...

This Shirt is TOO simple :?
Kretencina   |2008-06-04
What is the difference from old shirt???

Nothing special. Arsenal is brand and should have nicer shirt.
rmp   |2008-06-04
It looks better seeing the players wear it, but I'm still not a big fan of the design.
Arsenal Rule   |2008-06-04
No matter how bad the kit looks it has an Arsenal badge on it which makes it by far the best kit in the league.
johnnyspungbob   |2008-06-04
Crap! too simple, the same as last seasons!
:upset

poo poo poo!
Er_nene   |2008-06-04
I love this shirt!!! :grin :grin I buy this! sorry for my english jeje :roll
poly  - Not as bad as I had thought   |2008-06-04
Its not Arsenal colours (well it is the right colours - just not set out right), the kit we have had for the past two seasons, is pretty much perfect, but this is actually quite nice too!
alan   |2008-06-04
too simple and it has too much resemblance to the season 00/02 kit. does it mean that the socks will be red as of back then? the v-neck collar is a bad idea too. i'm sure nike can do better.
Pollo   |2008-06-04
Another disappointing Nike kit. It's ok but I think the stripes on the arm are out of proportion and the v-neck is bit nasty.
Drew   |2008-06-04
Looks like a training top...

where the hell is the white sleeves???? this is not an arsenal kit. crap crap crap. the one from last year was way better
DAVEY  - afc strip   |2008-06-04
Nike have no care about tradition. The collar is crap with no white trim and the arms are **** and what colour is the trim?Load of ********!

As usual, sheer class from the Bank of England Club.

Take a close look, that's the closest the opposition will get to it as they fly past.
george   |2008-06-04
i love this shirt,
and i dont see how you can complain.
how much more can youdo when it has to have white sleeves and red body.
thumbs up on this one
just cant wait to see what the away kit looks like
Augustus   |2008-06-05
And what happens when Ajax, Milan, and the other great teams decide to change their design on a whim?

I'm amazed at the comments on here supporting this cookie cutter, same as everyone else design. It's a slap in the face for those who want some tradition kept at their club as they evolve into corporate behemoths more interested in a tour of China than their own fans.

What if Sporting Lisbon or Celiic decided to go for stripes or River Plate wanted hoops and a top hat? If a designer can't do something with red and white sleeves you have the wrong designer. This is a disgrace.
Ala   |2008-06-04
I don't like the black stripes, to be honest. The gold stripes down the sides of the old kit were the best bit of last season's kit, now they've left that out. Below average.
alex   |2008-06-04
fact is that arsenal must have white sleeves

horrible
roger   |2008-06-04
avatar Nice shirt! A bit dissapointed because the sleeves aren't 100% white, but I think this is a new approach.
isaac   |2008-06-04
arsenal used to have a kit just like this about 10 yrs ago
its a remake
im a spurs fan and even i think its ***y

It just doesn't look like an Arsenal kit!
Ryan   |2008-06-04
The trim is actually redcurrant, rather than black.

Makes us look like Charlton or Walsall.

Not impressed.

The piping outlining the white is actually dark red and not black/blue, which I think makes a it a great and original kit.

Mr Bronson   |2008-06-04
Seems to me to be basically the Nigerian top from the '98 World Cup in different colours. Really unimaginative, not a patch on recent Arsenal shirts, especially the Redcurrent Highbury shirt.
Anonymous   |2008-06-05
Spot on. The 98 Nigeria WC kit in red.
Scooter  - Gotta be a fake   |2008-06-04
Not even real footballers modelling it, lol
eDub  - Horrible...   |2008-06-04
As a Gunners' supporter, I must say that this shirt is HORRIBLE. The v-neck makes it seem like a training top, but my main complaint is the lack of full white sleeves (yes, that is a major part of the classic Arsenal shirt). Needless to say that I will not be purchasing a new kit.

A previous post mentioned it makes us look like
Charlton or Walsall... and he's absolutely right.
leEDs   |2008-06-04
Arsenal fans are right to be hacked off at the sleeves not being all white. You should never change the traditional elements of a team's kit design.

Here endeth today's lesson in shirt design.
Grant   |2008-06-04
I think that the redcurrent outline of the white stripe down the sleeves and body is a nice touch. Not crazy about the v-neck collar, but other than that I think this is a fantastic kit. Nice socks too. 5/5
LICO  - quality   |2008-06-04
:grin how can you say that this kit is bad. i think that simplicity is best and that it could be a lot worse. SO STOP COMPLAINING!!! I am definetly goin to buy this kit. Its better than last years but not as good as 01/02 that was unique. But this kit is still quality like all arsenal shirts. Trust arsenal and Nike :grin :grin :grin :grin :grin
herd   |2008-06-04
i ain't an arsenal fan but always think their kits are dead smart but the home home kit looks like a set of pajamas! disappointed.
mark   |2008-06-04
Be sticking with my classic 70's shirt thanks, at least its got white sleeves...
Michael  - Unveiling????   |2008-06-04
Does anyone know when Arsenal are unveiling ths kit??
Jon   |2008-06-04
Just when Nike were making some decent looking kits of late, they've completely ruined the Arsenal shirt... it just doesn't look like an Arsenal shirt, merely some Charlton clone as others have pointed out.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be asking questions as to why the board agreed to this design because it's completely breaking tradition and not buy the kit. At least the one-off redcurrant shirt had historical grounding to it, but this just isn't, and besides, as someone else correctly pointed out, it's very much the same style as Nigeria's kit from 1998.

To many people, any red shirt with white sleeves, regardless of the team wearing it, is typically regarded as "the Arsenal style".... well thanks to Nike and this horror show, it no longer is the case!"
disappointed gooner   |2008-06-04
Crock of ****, no white sleeves so it may as well be a Charlton/'Boro/any other nondescript team in red with a bit of white. How someone on the board didn't veto it is beyond me, too busy banging on about banging on about 'tradition' and ******** like 'english ownership' to realise an american company is already raping our most obvious traditions i guess. I can't wait for the red and white striped 2010 kit.

I'm not buying it, I suggest all other gooners follow suit.

Ryan M Liddell   |2008-06-05
"How someone on the board didn't

Took awhile for the Anti-american geocentric xenophobia to come out. I seem to remember Nike doing pretty well for you when Merson, Wright, en co. were kicking it about. You were probably to tanked to recall those shirts. They trade pretty well an eBay about now.

Besides, having worked in professional sports, manufacturers have entire departments devoted to design. They "present" multiple designs to a client, based upon the clients recommendations and ideas. As well, the client doesn't veto anything. They select one of the many that are put forth.

I trust, however, given the lack of sophistication throughout this entire site, that relevant information means little.

Nice choice of words, too..."rape"? C'mon
jjokocha   |2008-06-05
if u take of the stripe it wuld really luk like a man utd kit.. i think it is kind of bad 2 end the usual stlye that arsenal hav (white sleeves)..but its gud 2 c sumthing new... i really dont like that goalkeeper kit template
Seán   |2008-06-05
I think its quite nice to be honest if i were to pick out a problem with it i would have to be the V- NECK :? It would look nicer with some sort of collar or even more rounded.

Notting to moan about otherwise IMO unlike all you moans :grin I remember last time the new kit came out people were moaning then realised they were beening big girls about it and eventually found out the loved the kit deep down inside, so much so they bought if (after say what half of you lot said)

mojo   |2008-06-05
It's terrible. No white sleeves. But know what? I won't really give a flying f@ck if we win something in it!
NBM   |2008-06-05
I like it, its like a fusion of the 98-00 and 00-02 kits. Yes, it is screaming out for fully white sleeves as with tradition, but its not the first time we've had sleeves like that as Nike's first offering in the mid 90's was the same.
Black Rob   |2008-06-05
WTF?
Chapman worked hard to get a kit to his specifications. He added white sleeves to the original all red shirt so players are easier to see. He also added hoops to the socks for the same reason.
It looks like a re-hashed dreamcast shirt.
As for the people saying its simple it quite obviously is not, a perfect example of a simple Arsenal shirt is the current shirt minus the Gold stripe, ie Red shirt, White sleeves...
AC#14   |2008-06-05
love those socks !
seb   |2008-06-05
It's ****e, the sleeves are wrong, the trim continues Nike's overbearing obsession with 'redcurrant', and the side panels are a 98/99 throwback, let's hope the team don't have a 98/99 season as a result.

The only saving grace for Nike will be the away kit, which by all accounts and from the picture doing the rounds, looks really nice and a definite 1989 ringer. That's the kind of omen we want, you mentalist marketting people!!
Anonymous   |2008-06-05
I Like it.

Reminds me of the 99/00 dreamcast kit.

It's not the first time the sleeves have not been 100% white e.g the 94-96 shirt and the 04/05 shirt.

Nice kit but i don't really like the goalkeeper's kit though. looks kinda weird
stewberto  - here's me   |2008-06-05
Don't like it, it might be a grower, but right now I don't like it.
Dreamcast kit all over again, but at least the stripes back then were blue/navy.

The redcurrent trim on this looks like black @ 1st glance.
Like someone already said, Nike are getting obsessed with redcurrent. It was a good idea for that 1 season, but it's done with, get over it already.

Looking forward to the away strip though, it looks class.

P.S. Ryan M Liddell,
you really are quite the ****er aren't you? Mummy buy you a thesaurus for christmas?
matty   |2008-06-05
We always get the worst kits. Whoever is in charge of design at Arsenal should be fired. That ****ing new logo and every kit we've had since 1979 is atrocious.
There's nothing new about it, there's nothing stylish, it's ****ing embarrassing.

Chelsea, Liverpool, United even ****ing Fulham always have better kits than us. I mean, I know the kit isn't the most important thing about a team, but we've had some shockers, and for a club of our size to have no sense of design is pathetic.

It looks like our kits were chosen by someone's mum who happens to work behind the counter in the shop at the Emirates, who gets to choose as a favour to her because her son's disabled.

Give us something decent.
Ben   |2008-06-05
See, I would go ahead and order this shirt, but I already have the 1998 home shirt, and that has a collar and white sleeves.

Looks similar to this, but I think if Nike was going to make a jersey this lazily they should've gone back to the old collar look, not this v-neck, white highlight look. Arsenal and white sleeves go too well together to have this be an actual kit.
7CHP   |2008-06-05
why is Theo wearing XXL?

this looks good tho. no doubt it is Arsenal that is good. Reminds me of the Dreamcast one with the dark defining stripes on the sides.
Anonymous   |2008-06-05
I'll take simple over the over designed ones that adidas has been putting out lately. I do prefer last seasons with the sleeves being all white. I thought all of last seasons kits were quite nice.
Joe  - joe   |2008-06-05
Mojo is right. if arsenal win something this year then everyone will eat their words and turn around and say how they love this shirt. just shows how fickal minded some people are. I'm a gooner and to be honest il buy the kit no matter what it looks like because of the passion i have for the club.
Rearch   |2008-06-05
Could be a bit more stylish. And why does the GK-kit have to bite Liverpools fugly away shirt with that weird ugly stripe from the collar?!
anonymous   |2008-06-05
This shirt is siiiiick! :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek
Big L   |2008-06-05
It's similar to Arsenal's kits from 98-00 and 00-02, with the pointless black lines bordering the white bits.

My problem with it is that Arsenal are supposed to have white sleeves, not red sleeves with a white stripe going down them.

Arsenal do usually get nice kits though. I think I'm right in saying Arsenal were the first English club to have a Nike kit, back when Nike was first getting into the "soccer" market around 1995.
ansaro  - bad one   |2008-06-05
Am sorry but this kits really bad.. what is wrong with them.. but over all i think next seasons kits do kinda suck for most teams.. i dont care as long as arsenal wins the league though..

nothing special, dissappointing! I expect a brand whose products are the most expensive in the market to be better than this. A retro of 2001-02? C'mon, i'd rather have our kit being designed by a fan through a competition (of course if the winner happens to be a Spurs fan, I'd rather have us wear this one!!)

Ryan M Liddell - Just because some of us don't know how the selection process of new football kits work does not make us unsophisticated.

Not sure about this kit anyway, think I'll be sticking with last seasons (which also happened to be the seasons' before) which is a good looking kit that suits Arsenals traditions.

Al   |2008-06-08
Why! why! why! . lets just put a black stripe on our old kit and flock it has the new one boring
JP  - Shut Up   |2008-06-08
The amount of people on here bangin on about this kit being crap is stupid. Im a die hard Gunners fan and I think this kit is great. You don't buy a kit for it's looks, you buy it as you support the club. Shut up about it not having white sleeves. There is white on the sleeves so thats that, faair play its less than usual but deal with it. Red and white aren't the most imaginative colours in the world so think for 2 seconds & realise that theres not much you can do with that. The same idiots would be on here complainin that kits don't change if we kept the same kit every year. Next I want to say how annoyin the people are that whinge sayin that Nike make boring kits. Every sports company have like 2 templates and the use them for pretty much every club they do. Adidas use the same template for every club and international they do, Puma is the worst though, change the colours and its the same kit (look at all the African countries for an idea) so its hardly riverting looking at new kits when they arrive. I think most companies do a great job changing them, most of you say this new kit is boring, but what would make you interested? Exactly, all you can say is white sleeves and no V neck. You have to keep it fresh otherwise people get bored. Oh and shut up actin like you know how kits are made, well done to the matey explainin that kits are presented and clubs choose their design. Next, the people saying there is no history or heritage in the shirt obviously don't know Arsenal very well. The trim is REDCURRANT. Get with it for christ sake. How the hell can you think it is blue or black? Seriously what are you smoking? £50 if you can tell me the name of the chairman, seriously you are a joke if you think that the redcuurant trim doesn't have a place on the shirt. Last seasons kit I thought was one of the best in years but where did the gold come from? Gold is not in our colours but we had it running down the body. Don't complain though. just wear it. Redcurrant is different and more relevant than gold. Oh yeah, are you blind? You must be if you think this kit and last seasons are anything alike. Lastly, anyone who said the V neck makes it look like a training shirt is also needing to shut up! Do you know anything seriously? How dumb are you? Training shirts are never EVER the same colour as home kits, for any club. Take Chelsea, they often use grey for training so how can u think this looks like a trainin shirt. Our training shirts are BRONZE! So rather than complain thinking that you have some sort of allegiance to Arsenal, take a long hard look at yourself when you next watch Arsenal play, just ask yourself how much do you REALLY support Arsenal if you have to complain about your clubs new kit to random strangers? So how about you head on down to JJB or where eva you go, pay your £40, wear it as if you are a true fan (since you say you are) and shut up.

It is for 2 seasons, Arsenals home kits are always 2 seasons the 2004/05 was one season bcause of the one off redcurrent commemorative shirt in 2005/06.

Travesty... the single worst kit I have seen in three or four years, and I enjoy looking at as many club's new designs as I can find.

yeh 2 be honest its not that good, the sleeves dont seem that bad 2 be honest but i would prefer a total different design. i personally prefer addidas and kappa kits to nike ones. Ive got the kit from 01/02 and its nearer enuff the same as that!. the best home shirt weve had is the 04/05 kit plus that blue away one was a beast aswell!. but my message to nike is come on lets keep the tradition but also lets be adventurous with them !!

:grin like the new shirt have orderd it from arsenal already but cant under stand why we have a new away strip liked the white one this new yellow one looks as though my 9 year old has designed it

My first impression was I thought Almunia looked liked a badass in his black standing next to the other players. His all black looks pretty good next to the mess of red/white.

Than, it all began to look like everyone's wearing pajamas. Almunia looks like the "Master of the House" and the others are his "servants." Someone get the Master his pipe and slippers...

What if Sporting Lisbon or Celiic decided to go for stripes or River Plate wanted hoops and a top hat?

wouldn't river look better in a chicken costume and a top hat???
their players need to wear monocles as well.
