meval   |2008-06-05
What happend to Arsenals white sleeves? dont realy know. They supposed to be our tradition. other than that, just an average shirt...
goooooooner  - afc   |2008-06-04
hate tht collar gr8 shirt tho fab team fabregas is a legend
Tom Cruise bin Laden  - This Shirt is TOO simple   |2008-06-04
This Shirt is TOO simple :?
Kretencina   |2008-06-04
What is the difference from old shirt???

Nothing special. Arsenal is brand and should have nicer shirt.
rmp   |2008-06-04
It looks better seeing the players wear it, but I'm still not a big fan of the design.
Arsenal Rule   |2008-06-04
No matter how bad the kit looks it has an Arsenal badge on it which makes it by far the best kit in the league.
johnnyspungbob   |2008-06-04
Crap! too simple, the same as last seasons!
:upset

poo poo poo!
Er_nene   |2008-06-04
I love this shirt!!! :grin :grin I buy this! sorry for my english jeje :roll
poly  - Not as bad as I had thought   |2008-06-04
Its not Arsenal colours (well it is the right colours - just not set out right), the kit we have had for the past two seasons, is pretty much perfect, but this is actually quite nice too!
alan   |2008-06-04
too simple and it has too much resemblance to the season 00/02 kit. does it mean that the socks will be red as of back then? the v-neck collar is a bad idea too. i'm sure nike can do better.
Pollo     |2008-06-04
Another disappointing Nike kit. It's ok but I think the stripes on the arm are out of proportion and the v-neck is bit nasty.
Drew   |2008-06-04
Looks like a training top...
bad kit   |2008-06-04
where the hell is the white sleeves???? this is not an arsenal kit. crap crap crap. the one from last year was way better
DAVEY  - afc strip     |2008-06-04
Nike have no care about tradition. The collar is crap with no white trim and the arms are shit and what colour is the trim?Load of bollocks!
Anonymous  - bruinallover   |2008-06-04
As usual, sheer class from the Bank of England Club.

Take a close look, that's the closest the opposition will get to it as they fly past.
george   |2008-06-04
i love this shirt,
and i dont see how you can complain.
how much more can youdo when it has to have white sleeves and red body.
thumbs up on this one
just cant wait to see what the away kit looks like
Augustus   |2008-06-05
And what happens when Ajax, Milan, and the other great teams decide to change their design on a whim?

I'm amazed at the comments on here supporting this cookie cutter, same as everyone else design. It's a slap in the face for those who want some tradition kept at their club as they evolve into corporate behemoths more interested in a tour of China than their own fans.

What if Sporting Lisbon or Celiic decided to go for stripes or River Plate wanted hoops and a top hat? If a designer can't do something with red and white sleeves you have the wrong designer. This is a disgrace.
Ala   |2008-06-04
I don't like the black stripes, to be honest. The gold stripes down the sides of the old kit were the best bit of last season's kit, now they've left that out. Below average.
alex   |2008-06-04
fact is that arsenal must have white sleeves

horrible
roger   |2008-06-04
avatar Nice shirt! A bit dissapointed because the sleeves aren't 100% white, but I think this is a new approach.
isaac   |2008-06-04
arsenal used to have a kit just like this about 10 yrs ago
its a remake
im a spurs fan and even i think its sexy
mojo   |2008-06-05
heh, heh. if a spurs fan likes it, it must be crap ;-/
zz  - zz     |2008-06-11
:? :eek :zzz
Fred   |2008-06-04
It just doesn't look like an Arsenal kit!
Ryan   |2008-06-04
The trim is actually redcurrant, rather than black.

Makes us look like Charlton or Walsall.

Not impressed.
simon  - blog   |2008-06-04
come on my blog with the new shorts for 2009:

johnnycakes   |2008-06-04
avatar white sleeves!!!!!!
zellybelly   |2008-06-04
The piping outlining the white is actually dark red and not black/blue, which I think makes a it a great and original kit.
FDV   |2008-06-04
avatar REALLY DON'T LIKE

Mr Bronson   |2008-06-04
Seems to me to be basically the Nigerian top from the '98 World Cup in different colours. Really unimaginative, not a patch on recent Arsenal shirts, especially the Redcurrent Highbury shirt.
Anonymous   |2008-06-05
Spot on. The 98 Nigeria WC kit in red.
Scooter  - Gotta be a fake   |2008-06-04
Not even real footballers modelling it, lol
eDub  - Horrible...   |2008-06-04
As a Gunners' supporter, I must say that this shirt is HORRIBLE. The v-neck makes it seem like a training top, but my main complaint is the lack of full white sleeves (yes, that is a major part of the classic Arsenal shirt). Needless to say that I will not be purchasing a new kit.

A previous post mentioned it makes us look like
Charlton or Walsall... and he's absolutely right.
leEDs   |2008-06-04
Arsenal fans are right to be hacked off at the sleeves not being all white. You should never change the traditional elements of a team's kit design.

Here endeth today's lesson in shirt design.
Grant   |2008-06-04
I think that the redcurrent outline of the white stripe down the sleeves and body is a nice touch. Not crazy about the v-neck collar, but other than that I think this is a fantastic kit. Nice socks too. 5/5
LICO  - quality   |2008-06-04
:grin how can you say that this kit is bad. i think that simplicity is best and that it could be a lot worse. SO STOP COMPLAINING!!! I am definetly goin to buy this kit. Its better than last years but not as good as 01/02 that was unique. But this kit is still quality like all arsenal shirts. Trust arsenal and Nike :grin :grin :grin :grin :grin
herd   |2008-06-04
i ain't an arsenal fan but always think their kits are dead smart but the home home kit looks like a set of pajamas! disappointed.
mark   |2008-06-04
Be sticking with my classic 70's shirt thanks, at least its got white sleeves...
Michael  - Unveiling????   |2008-06-04
Does anyone know when Arsenal are unveiling ths kit??
Jon   |2008-06-04
Just when Nike were making some decent looking kits of late, they've completely ruined the Arsenal shirt... it just doesn't look like an Arsenal shirt, merely some Charlton clone as others have pointed out.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be asking questions as to why the board agreed to this design because it's completely breaking tradition and not buy the kit. At least the one-off redcurrant shirt had historical grounding to it, but this just isn't, and besides, as someone else correctly pointed out, it's very much the same style as Nigeria's kit from 1998.

To many people, any red shirt with white sleeves, regardless of the team wearing it, is typically regarded as "the Arsenal style".... well thanks to Nike and this horror show, it no longer is the case!"
disappointed gooner   |2008-06-04
Crock of shit, no white sleeves so it may as well be a Charlton/'Boro/any other nondescript team in red with a bit of white. How someone on the board didn't veto it is beyond me, too busy banging on about banging on about 'tradition' and bollocks like 'english ownership' to realise an american company is already raping our most obvious traditions i guess. I can't wait for the red and white striped 2010 kit.

I'm not buying it, I suggest all other gooners follow suit.

they wanna b u united sooooo badd...hahaha....
~ Marcio!  - BAD   |2008-06-05
that shirt rly likes fake...is simple is super bad...i sure that I can do a better shirt than that...where is the white sleeves...GOD is terrible...the first time that shirt apears hear in FSC, i vote in "fake shirt"...more and more I see how adidas is better than nike...Arsenal would do like Flamengo (Brazil), they are not happy if nike, so they cancel the contratc, i thing thats better than f*ck the traditions!!!!
Ryan M Liddell   |2008-06-05

Took awhile for the Anti-american geocentric xenophobia to come out. I seem to remember Nike doing pretty well for you when Merson, Wright, en co. were kicking it about. You were probably to tanked to recall those shirts. They trade pretty well an eBay about now.

Besides, having worked in professional sports, manufacturers have entire departments devoted to design. They "present" multiple designs to a client, based upon the clients recommendations and ideas. As well, the client doesn't veto anything. They select one of the many that are put forth.

I trust, however, given the lack of sophistication throughout this entire site, that relevant information means little.

Nice choice of words, too..."rape"? C'mon
jjokocha   |2008-06-05
if u take of the stripe it wuld really luk like a man utd kit.. i think it is kind of bad 2 end the usual stlye that arsenal hav (white sleeves)..but its gud 2 c sumthing new... i really dont like that goalkeeper kit template
Seán   |2008-06-05
I think its quite nice to be honest if i were to pick out a problem with it i would have to be the V- NECK :? It would look nicer with some sort of collar or even more rounded.

Notting to moan about otherwise IMO unlike all you moans :grin I remember last time the new kit came out people were moaning then realised they were beening big girls about it and eventually found out the loved the kit deep down inside, so much so they bought if (after say what half of you lot said)

:roll

So there now
hammad   |2008-06-05
:eek igh

Reminds me of the kit from around 97, its a grower I think

? Not sure, had dreamcast on and the blue stripes.
Anyway, goodtimes.
Guy   |2008-06-05
This looks like a Man U kt. Absolutely bllody awful.
Luiz Fernando  - Looks so...   |2008-06-05
This shirt looks that the Nigeria 98 world cup, same template! Are the years 90 "retro" now?
mojo   |2008-06-05
It's terrible. No white sleeves. But know what? I won't really give a flying f@ck if we win something in it!
NBM   |2008-06-05
I like it, its like a fusion of the 98-00 and 00-02 kits. Yes, it is screaming out for fully white sleeves as with tradition, but its not the first time we've had sleeves like that as Nike's first offering in the mid 90's was the same.
Black Rob   |2008-06-05
WTF?
Chapman worked hard to get a kit to his specifications. He added white sleeves to the original all red shirt so players are easier to see. He also added hoops to the socks for the same reason.
It looks like a re-hashed dreamcast shirt.
As for the people saying its simple it quite obviously is not, a perfect example of a simple Arsenal shirt is the current shirt minus the Gold stripe, ie Red shirt, White sleeves...
AC#14   |2008-06-05
love those socks !
seb   |2008-06-05
It's shite, the sleeves are wrong, the trim continues Nike's overbearing obsession with 'redcurrant', and the side panels are a 98/99 throwback, let's hope the team don't have a 98/99 season as a result.

The only saving grace for Nike will be the away kit, which by all accounts and from the picture doing the rounds, looks really nice and a definite 1989 ringer. That's the kind of omen we want, you mentalist marketting people!!
Anonymous   |2008-06-05
I Like it.

Reminds me of the 99/00 dreamcast kit.

It's not the first time the sleeves have not been 100% white e.g the 94-96 shirt and the 04/05 shirt.
Goooner Brad  - Nothing special!!!   |2008-06-05
It would look a lot better with a collar :roll
but then again Nike unfortunately don
Goooner Brad  - Nothing special!!!   |2008-06-05
It would look a lot better with a collar!
but then again Nike unfortunately don't make better kit than Addidas!!! igh
penelope   |2008-06-05
Nice kit but i don't really like the goalkeeper's kit though. looks kinda weird
stewberto  - here's me   |2008-06-05
Don't like it, it might be a grower, but right now I don't like it.
Dreamcast kit all over again, but at least the stripes back then were blue/navy.

The redcurrent trim on this looks like black @ 1st glance.
Like someone already said, Nike are getting obsessed with redcurrent. It was a good idea for that 1 season, but it's done with, get over it already.

Looking forward to the away strip though, it looks class.

P.S. Ryan M Liddell,
you really are quite the wanker aren't you? Mummy buy you a thesaurus for christmas?
