Manchester United 08/09 Nike Away Football kit E-mail
Thursday, 19 June 2008

manchester_united_away_08_09_nike_kit.jpg

Manchester United have unveiled their new Nike away kit for the 2008/09 season. Made up of a white shirt, blue shorts and white socks, it is on sale from 18 July in the Old Trafford Megastore. The players will wear the kit for the first time during the opening two games of their pre-season trip to South Africa.

Those matches take place in Cape Town against Kaizer Chiefs on 19 July and in Durban against Orlando Pirates on 22 July. The trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool in September looks likely to be the first competitive game in which the team will play in their new attire.

WHAT DA HELL YOU TALKING ABOUT THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MAN UTD KIT.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE THAT SHIRT OF AND PUT ON A LIVERPOOL SHIRT
Tim   |2008-06-19
Yeah, because he doesn't like the kit it somehow makes him less of a fan doesn't it? Wanker.
Gilly!!!!  - Mr   |2008-06-25
Everyone is entitled to ther opinion. However i think we can all agree it's better than last seasons away strip.
p4zz   |2008-06-20
this has to be one of the worst away kit kits man utd have had.
Thomasinho   |2008-06-19
avatar It could be Nike's future France away kit.

:p
Ali Van Der Sar   |2008-06-19
Now that it's confirmed I don't know how to feel about this shirt...Doesn't really compare with the black one or the white one from two years ago (our third kit this season...)

Eh, if we keep him, it looks like Ronaldo will get his "white kit" after all. Nike needs to step it up...
Harun   |2008-06-19
I thaugh that the leaked picture was ugly as hel, but when i see this one again, i like it. Looks awesome when the payers wear it, and i live the blu numbers and names in the back.
plamen     |2008-06-19
looks like AIG had their say on the colours...
Nickjellberh   |2008-06-19
Decent shirt, but couldn't care less about the Man U shirts..

Just wondering if Ronaldo is lost for Man U since he is not in the ad?
Anonymous   |2008-06-23
You say this, but there is no Rooney either. Does it mean he is leaving as well
matt byrne     |2008-06-19
I was wondering the same. Seems odd to advertise your new kit without your biggest star being present.
Mukh   |2008-06-19
All the present players are not competing in the Euros. Fool.

Ronaldo not being there doesnt mean anything. Rooney isnt there either, and theres no sign of him going ANYWHERE
Anonymous   |2008-06-19
What A Load Of Crap!
anonymous   |2008-06-19
maybe the fact that Ronaldo in playing for Portugal in the Euros has somehthing to do with not being in the photo!!!

man utd crest left chest thats all it matters!!

champions of europe!!
Mark   |2008-06-19
i just cant understand why they made it blue-white rather than red-white. Shame..
paul   |2008-06-19
gee maybe, it's becuase your home kits red, you bloody idiot
Jon_SA  - Yawn   |2008-06-19
:zzz Is this really a suitable away kit for the Champions of Europe? It's so dull and boring. Still a respectable kit though.
I'm actually more interested in the ball in the photo with Evra. Quite a neat design. Could anyone tell me what ball that is?
cronaldo7   |2008-06-19
This kit is pretty good. But a couple comments...

To say AIG had a say in the colors is officially the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why don't they just put an American flag instead of the United crest, eh buddy? It's the same colors as the USA home!! :roll I can't stand conspiracy theorists with their stupid comments.

Coming in a close second for dumbest comment is the guy who thinks that if you don't like the kit, you might as well be a 'pool fan.

Seriously...
BlueSouth   |2008-06-20
the fact is, the sponsor does have a word to say when it comes to the colours in the club football,at least regards the away kits, see liverpool, its like in the formula one, they like to have their colour on it!
Symmo   |2008-06-20
How has the sponsor had a say? Its traditional united colours, our away kits are invariably white, blue or black with the exception of the grey one.

Andrew   |2008-06-19
I'd like it if it wasn't for the red part on the collar!
RED Devil   |2008-06-19
looks like Spurs' kit
awful colour scheme

really this must be one of the worst united shirts of all time.
if the blue would be black the shirt would be ok. but it simply doesn`t look like a man utd shirt to me
eradicator   |2008-06-19
It's arsenal home last season's strip in different color!!!! Look at the line under the armpit!!!!
johnnycakes   |2008-06-19
avatar i agree with the comment saying that the blue should be replaced with black therefore having traditional United colours. Then again i stopped buying merchandise when the glazers took over so i wont be purchasing.
benniboi   |2008-06-19
Looks more like the England home kit
but good kit though
Ali Van Der Sar   |2008-06-19
Here what you're saying. And I have compared many of Nike's new kits to the new USA home, as the US kit came out first this year but upon further review the shirts aren't really that similar. I think the template is the same with a slightly larger color on this shirt but the US kit is mostly stripes of white and grey seperated by fine red lines and a touch of blue in the collar and the lettering.

This kit's blue is a different shade, reminicent of the Nike all blue kit we had in 05 I believe. That is if you want to get technical lol.
cristian   |2008-06-19
nice kit
Chris   |2008-06-19
Eww. Could be worse, could be liverpools new third haha. What is it with United and the Shite taking shitteh's and Everton's colors this season :p
lucas   |2008-06-19
tevez as a model sux....
bil   |2008-06-19
the shirt should have been blue instead of white.. now that would be awsome.. not really a good kit.. hope to see the home and the third kit being better than this..
Sion     |2008-06-19
not a good kit, past season kits were my favourite kits around but this is not nice at all...
kokunat   |2008-06-20
should've been all blue, like connecting our recent cl success with the 68' one, but instead they came out with a meaningless, half-decent kit which is (if i may say so) quite stale, its gonna be a so hard to compare an original kit and a fakey from thailand....
FDV     |2008-06-20
avatar 1/5... no no no..i don't like it.
It looks like a wigan away kit
Nick   |2008-06-20
It looks like an England kit that never was from say the late 90s (when nike were activly pursueing England). As a colour scheme it is [color=red]okay nothing amazing but not too bad I suppose. Nice neckline- and have you noticed that MU always seem to get the kit templates noone else gets. Last season being the best example.
man united hater  - fcjawfca     |2008-06-20
looks lyk totenhams kit
sj   |2008-06-20
tevez looks like he wanted to laugh when wearing that shirt
roger   |2008-06-20
avatar Tevez looks like a drunk football player :grin
Iker   |2008-06-20
Why add that random little red trinagle on the collar! Reminds me of a tongue. Would have lookd a lot better in just two colours, White and blue/black.
WE ARE UNITED   |2008-06-20
igh i am a crazy united shirt collector and i miss the umbro kits...remember those, united fans? igh

nike havent been able to capture the "magic" of a united shirt the way umbro did...remember 1998-00 home prem and champs league version?...1994 away?... 1994-96 home?...just to name a few

this shirt is decent but just seems lifeless...but oh well...couldve been worse....couldve been arsenal's kits...

but in Sept theres supposed to be a champs league specific shirt for united celebrating 40th anniversary of the first Euro cup win (Wembley '6 so LETS HOPE NIKE GETS THIS ONE RIGHT!!!
WE ARE UNITED   |2008-06-20
Wembley 68 * (i dunno y it did that smiley face)
DannyBoy   |2008-06-20
I'm an Arsenal fan and I think this kit is rank!
Don't get me wrong I don't even think our kits this season are that nice. Poor year for nike and Premiership kits in general!
hellteam   |2008-06-21
there black ones are SO much better. i cant beleive they changed them to this boring crap.
ginga   |2008-06-21
i love it its the best away kit for 5 years
Anonymous   |2008-06-21
mate are u a man u fan
Joe   |2008-06-21
Well it looks better than the leeked picture.
But still pretty bad comparing to the last away and third kits :cry
Ryan M Liddell   |2008-06-21
Hey Hey,

I love the new shirt! As for the fan who stopped buying because the Glaziers took over...
They 've won exactly one more domestic / Euro double than the previous administration.

As for their merchandising...
This shirt is retailing for 102.44 USD, inc. printing and badges. Based on 49.99 GBP retail blank, that's printing and badges free!

Get over it

First, I am a big fan of this kit ... that's why i bought it when it came out in the Spring ... AS PORTUGAL'S WHITE AWAY KIT! Same detailing just in blue & red instead of green. Same collar and material as well.

Seems Nike is doing what it did in '04 and using their EURO templates for the club teams. Can't blame them for milking a good design, but sad that I'll pretty much own 2 of the same jersey. VIDIC 15.
Justin  - Ronnie     |2008-06-21
Secondly, remember the leaked picture of Ronaldo in this kit a month or so back? Seems he knew he'd be playing in a white kit this fall anyway.
