FC Barcelona have rediscovered the mythical half-and-half design of the club's centenary for the new home shirt that has been introduced for the 2008/09 the 2008/09 campaign, while the away shirt is yellow. The new kits were presented on Wednesday on the pitch at Camp Nou at midday with Nike and Barça have chosen to make a complete change for the home shirts with the stripes being done away with and two halves of blau and grana being introduced as a nod to the club's centenary shirt of ten seasons ago.
Next season's shirts will incorporate the senyera once again with the club motto 'mès que un club' on the rear of the collar above the labels. There is another major details, however, with the Barça hymn being printed out on the inside of the shirt. The word Barça is also imprinted throughout the shirt.
the shirt is just ok. im sure barca fans have to be upset though because they had a shirt exactly like this a couple of years ago. the halves is not the traditional barca look. they should go back to their stripes.
I agree, it is okay, I like the use of the colours(red,blue and gold) but \i am not sure if that is just clever photography.[/color][color=red]There is no trimmings at all aside the Unicef and Nike swoosh which does make it dull to be honest.
And yes having halves to celebrate 100 years is 1 thing, but doing it every so often gets a bit on the monotenous side especially as Nike/Barca haven't exactlly used vast swathes of imagination.
I prefer the stripes. I was okay with the halves until I saw that they didn't do contrasting sleeves. It would have been simple but elegant with those, but without...just dull. But, as a Barca supporter, I suppose it's more about the players than the shirt they wear. And at least the away kit is decent.
no way! that's amazing! It's better that it doesnt have contrasting sleeves because this design is very rare. Plus, it's obvious that Barca likes to try different styles every year, therefore it was about time they picked one of these.
Rubbish. An FC Basel shirt regurgitated for one of the world's biggest clubs. The centenary shirt did this halved style so much better. Still, when the masses will buy it regardless who cares about some innovation or uniqueness?
That's one of the greatest dissapointments yet this year. It looks like one of
those shirts you could buy for 5 Euro on the market
Especially the collar is a big let down, it just doesn't look finished at all, this strip
Nike once again having disregard for a club's jersey style, first Arsenal, now Barça. I'm going to stick to wearing last season's superb effort, which totally beats this from a great height.
If this was Basle or Bologna or Cagliari or any other club, I'd be satisfied with this effort - not jumping up and down for joy but satisfied.
However Barca deserve better than this - they are footballing royalty - this is tantamount to spitting in Lizzie's eye!!! :eek

With that said though, I preferred the 1899-1999 centenery shirt... I'll wait to I see the shirt in person before making any judgements on it but at the moment, I'm not entirely sure about it. With shirts like this I think it's better to wait to see for yourself what it's like. Sometimes the pictures don't do the shirt justice but for now it's average
As a Palace fan, Barca look like they've nicked our red n blue colours. Well, our sash colours at least now we've gone back to all white !
Would like to see it in the flesh to see if the grana/maroon has been replaced by red. As mentioned it's a rehash of the 06/07 shirt, which at least were stripes of sorts. Poor effort. It looks worse than Messi and Puyol's hairdon'ts and that's saying something.
I predict more people buying old Barca shirts or Vintage shirts in 08/09 than this offering.
Don`t like it ar all. This is bad. When you see red and white checks - first you think about Croatia, when you see white and green hoops - celtic, when you see red and black stripes - milan... When i first see 50-50 red-blue shirt, i first think about Basel. Don`t like this shirt at all, it`s a shame that such a big club with huge tradition, and not owned by american, arabian or some easterasian, can do something like this to their home shirt, which is supposed to be "sacred".
Masterclass, Nike have done 'shockingly well. Who cares if it's FC Basel, not all teams can have totally different shirts, or there's no point for the away and/or third kit.
actually the blaugrana got their colours from fc basel, one of the founders of barcelona was from basel. still it should be stripes and the red should be darker, more grana, less rioja.
