Statto, I have always thought under a 3 year contract with Umbro,Nike whoever, they could have home and away for year 1, new away for year 2 and new 3rd for year 3.training gear and all the othetr marketable stuff would be alligned to the colours of the new kits, some (big) club could make allot of pompous statements about how they listen to the fans etc, and then after 2 years of the 3 year contract another new contract could be signed and the rotation continued. If they contract isn't to be renewed then keep the 2nd kit and not bother with a third. In these rescionary times, plus with prices of oil etc affecting polyester manufacturing,
now would be a good tiume to do it.
But Statto who would have the bottle to do it.
Liverpool & Chelsea are having to wear Euro kits,
Arsenal and Man U are changing away kits every season and I think those are the 3 clubs who do not have new home kits every year. I think most clubs in Europe change 3 kits every year-even if in Romas' case it's the same kit with absurd Kappa logo on shoulder(such invention!). Lyon may be the other exception.
the gold is really nice :grin and makes the shirt stick out a little from the last few
still not a big fan of nike.
like man utd, celtic should have stayed with umbro igh
Like it :grin Although its basically sporting lisbon replica for the home top and australia/brazil replica for the awaw top either way its gonna be 4 in a row
Celtic supporters, enjoy this nice simple hooped shirt while it lasts - given what Nike have done with Arsenal and Barca's shirts for next season I wouldn't put it past them to come up with something bizarre green and white variation in a couple of years form now (stripes, halves, zig zags...).
u obv dnt no celtic very well then u can and will not be allowed to break the hoops umbro done it while they were our sponsor and they didn't get the chance to pull something like that again !!!! celtic have a tradition which will always remain as long as the club

They'd get dumped if they tried it m8, we ain't Arsenal.
Really nice shirt. I agree with the comment about white collars but it's still cool. We'll allow Nike that.
HOWEVER, they wouldn't DARE get rid of the green and white hoops. Remember what happened when the Wolves shirt had the mudstains on it? Multiply that reaction by a BILLION!
OK - before I get accused of bias, my footballing allegiances in Scotland are to Motherwell (yeah stop laughing it's a family thing!)
So when I say I really like this shirt, it's not cause I love Celtic or hate Rangers. It's a classy shirt.
Regards to Statto's comment I say "Here, Here!" and wish some team would buck the trend and have a good design for more than two seasons.

Nike do hoops perfectly.
Maybe but they cannot translate that to stripes!
As for a Celtic riot with a change to hoops, it all depends on how apathetic Nike perceive Celtic fans to be - if they believe they can weather a storm and the fans still stump up the cash, then they'll do it. Plus, a good or memorable season in that shirt and it will be selling like hot cakes!
This is a great looking Celtic kit. I'm glad that Nike have gone with a V neck this time as the previous round necks were simply too big on some of the kits !
The gold trim looks great. That was a good idea - especially keeping it understated. A touch of class.
I wonder what Nike have done with the socks this time. Will they still be all white or will there be hoops?
I loke it... Its a darker green and the material looks better than last seasons top. The gold certianly adds a bit of class to the top. I will defo be buying it!
The will probly put a new one out next year cos the Carling sponsordhip is up
It is by far the best Celtic / Nike home shirt.
I like the gold trimmings and the slightly darker(sporting lisbon) shade of green-unless it's trick photography.
All they need noqw is a decent sponcer and a 'know what is good looking' instead of (yet) another nostalgia shirt that they hjave worn in the last few years. Not quiet their best ever but a very good design.
If only it would last for a couple of years.
I like the new strip. It's the first Celtic strip to have another colour in it than green and white and black trip excluding the sponsor since we've had the hoops and the gold freshens it up and maybe the Irish fans will like it even more.
Any strip has to be passed by a supporters committee as part of the Celtic trust and they won't allow the badge or hoops to be alterred in any noticable way.
The modern sportswear manufacturers code indicates they should keep each home strip for 2 seasons and the away for one as the away then demoted to the 3rd or European strip in a cycle.
This never happened with the home as Nike and the club deemed last seasons strip as a souvanier jersey to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.
Before this the last 2 umbro home strips only lasted one year due to the change of contract to Nike and where allowed to produce an extra last strip as a "golden handshake".
This top isnt as nice as the last seasons. Nike do much better work with barca's stripes, as i Celtic fan id like to see a more progressive strip as designers are clearly too scared from the backlash from moaning fans about altering the stripes like the 02/03 season with the white patches under each arm.
Overall its pretty boring, nothing changed other than the green V neck and gold nike logo.
I would just like to say that I love this top with the added gold on the nike badge and also love the V-neck collar. It is something diffrent from previous tops and nike must find it hard to be able to change the top because they can't really take the hoops away or even break the hoops at all.
Remember when Umbro tried to do it, they had got all sorts of complaints that year and more than alot of celtic fans had complained that year.
I opened the enlarged kit for 07/08 next to the 08/09 one above, at 1st I was pissed last years top only lasted a season because it's really nice but this new one has some real improvements. The gold trim is nice, reversing the hoops is different and makes the Carling logo look better. The gold Nike Swoosh is a nice touch and the V neck is vastly better. 2 tops in less than 3 months tho? The Mrs. will not be pleased.......
aw ats a breif defo gettin at wen its oot cmon eh hoops yass !!!! up eh gers :p very smart wae the gold trim and wae the green vneck collar very modern nd simple but unique
This is is surely based on the Yeovil Town Vandell shirt. Call the copyright Police. And the sooner the Glovers go back to a solid green based shirt the better. It's annoying explaining to Jocks of both persuasions that the shirt I'm wearing belongs to South Somerset's finest !
