Nice fresh top. I know most people will say "there is no change" but you cannot change a design with green and white hoops too much.

The gold is a nice touch and it is just very classy looking. As for the rangers supporters before you's start commenting, fuck up!
jim   |2008-06-25
very nice, nice to see the gold trim, not sure about the badge going on the green hoop !
Statto   |2008-06-25
Rather than making tiny changes every year or so why does no big club bite the bullett and say there are gonna stick with a deign for say 3 years?

I think even more people will buy it, knowing it will remain the current shirt for more than 1 season.

Maybe a bit of loyalty could be shown to the fans by the Club for a change?
Nick   |2008-06-26
Statto, I have always thought under a 3 year contract with Umbro,Nike whoever, they could have home and away for year 1, new away for year 2 and new 3rd for year 3.training gear and all the othetr marketable stuff would be alligned to the colours of the new kits, some (big) club could make allot of pompous statements about how they listen to the fans etc, and then after 2 years of the 3 year contract another new contract could be signed and the rotation continued. If they contract isn't to be renewed then keep the 2nd kit and not bother with a third. In these rescionary times, plus with prices of oil etc affecting polyester manufacturing,
now would be a good tiume to do it.
But Statto who would have the bottle to do it.
Liverpool & Chelsea are having to wear Euro kits,
Arsenal and Man U are changing away kits every season and I think those are the 3 clubs who do not have new home kits every year. I think most clubs in Europe change 3 kits every year-even if in Romas' case it's the same kit with absurd Kappa logo on shoulder(such invention!). Lyon may be the other exception.

Nike do hoops perfectly. Wish QPR signed with them instead of Lotto.
Ax   |2008-06-25
QPR Lotto shirt will be nice, believe me...
rab c   |2008-06-25
I like it how it has the gold trim and the green collar, 4/5
sheep   |2008-06-25
the gold is really nice :grin and makes the shirt stick out a little from the last few
still not a big fan of nike.
like man utd, celtic should have stayed with umbro igh
FDV     |2008-06-25
avatar 4/5

It s very simple..but if it was not, we would complain with not traditional shirts...

I like the gold trims, and the predominance of green over white.
colp   |2008-06-25
Umbro made shit Celtic tops, are were punished accordingly. They even broke the Hoops. Fuck Umbro right in the eye. Nice shirt to win 4 in a row!
FDV     |2008-06-25
avatar Respect for Umbro tops!

The real Celtic is the Umbro - CR SMITH one !
Sean  - Fantastic     |2008-06-25

KRAP   |2008-06-25
Smart and simple
LU3YtheWOLF   |2008-06-25
Im just hear to say....

This is a pretty nice shirt.

Looks clean and crisp and the little touches of yellow/gold makes it a little different and also adds a bit of quality to it.
MikeyBhoy   |2008-06-25
Like it :grin Although its basically sporting lisbon replica for the home top and australia/brazil replica for the awaw top either way its gonna be 4 in a row
Anonymous  - brill   |2008-06-25
brill 10/10 best shirt this year
johnnycakes   |2008-06-25
avatar white collars for celtic shirts!!!
football fan   |2008-06-25
Celtic supporters, enjoy this nice simple hooped shirt while it lasts - given what Nike have done with Arsenal and Barca's shirts for next season I wouldn't put it past them to come up with something bizarre green and white variation in a couple of years form now (stripes, halves, zig zags...).
Hoopster  - U Obv Aint No Celtic Fan Bhoy lol     |2008-08-08
u obv dnt no celtic very well then u can and will not be allowed to break the hoops umbro done it while they were our sponsor and they didn't get the chance to pull something like that again !!!! celtic have a tradition which will always remain as long as the club

They'd get dumped if they tried it m8, we ain't Arsenal.

It's a cracker imo.
martin1t   |2008-06-25
Another classic Celtic shirt, c'mon eh hoops!!! :grin
DeeDee   |2008-06-25
Gorgeous, Reminds Me Of A Sporting Lisbon Top, Nice Shirt To Win Four In A Row , 4/5
Scoobie   |2008-06-25
Hmmm, s'pose it's alright for what it is. What's the gold trimming for? Fair enough on previous away strips, but for a home strip?
Anonymous   |2008-06-25
class! very continental styling reminds me of a Sporting shirt.
Nakamura Ate My Dog   |2008-06-25
They need to wash that shirt with Vanish - gets the shite right off, 1st time.

:p
Nakamura's Dog Ate My Hun   |2008-06-25
Cracking hoops
Jay   |2008-06-25
Really nice shirt. I agree with the comment about white collars but it's still cool. We'll allow Nike that.

HOWEVER, they wouldn't DARE get rid of the green and white hoops. Remember what happened when the Wolves shirt had the mudstains on it? Multiply that reaction by a BILLION!
Sion     |2008-06-25
avatar I really like it, I wanted a V neck and I suspected it would be green, the gold is a very nice touch. Defo buying it
scott   |2008-06-25
ano u cant change a top with hoops but the only difference is the nike badge and the bit at the collar
Blue Bear   |2008-06-25
Always the sam :grin e green and white shity hopes wouldn
danny   |2008-06-26
celtic are a fucking joke they're just ripping their fans off, this is celtic's 9th shirt in 4 seasons under nike
John Bhoy   |2008-06-26
Danny who gives a fuck? At least all the tops have been class and well worth the money in my opinion!
danwho   |2008-06-26
OK - before I get accused of bias, my footballing allegiances in Scotland are to Motherwell (yeah stop laughing it's a family thing!)

So when I say I really like this shirt, it's not cause I love Celtic or hate Rangers. It's a classy shirt.

Regards to Statto's comment I say "Here, Here!" and wish some team would buck the trend and have a good design for more than two seasons.

Maybe but they cannot translate that to stripes!

As for a Celtic riot with a change to hoops, it all depends on how apathetic Nike perceive Celtic fans to be - if they believe they can weather a storm and the fans still stump up the cash, then they'll do it. Plus, a good or memorable season in that shirt and it will be selling like hot cakes!
neill McGrann   |2008-06-26
good shirt. solid. i love the gold trim and the green collar. loses the 5/5 for the black trim on the collar, wouldv'e liked to see it gold.
Hilmy  - COOL!!   |2008-06-26
this one looks better than the old one, the gold color makes the shirt prettier :grin
Karipap   |2008-06-26
It's Cool Omigo!! 10/10
gerrybhoybroon  - Pele McCourt,Pele McCourt     |2008-06-26
Stunning strip for 4 in a row season.Would love to see a tricolour hoops for 5 in a row!Kenny Miller Whore!!!
bennybhoy   |2008-06-26
This is a great looking Celtic kit. I'm glad that Nike have gone with a V neck this time as the previous round necks were simply too big on some of the kits !

The gold trim looks great. That was a good idea - especially keeping it understated. A touch of class.

I wonder what Nike have done with the socks this time. Will they still be all white or will there be hoops?
Jim McGrory   |2008-06-26
I loke it... Its a darker green and the material looks better than last seasons top. The gold certianly adds a bit of class to the top. I will defo be buying it!
The will probly put a new one out next year cos the Carling sponsordhip is up
iainbop   |2008-06-26
As dull and unatractive as the people who wear them.
Keep up the good work. :grin
BIG JOCK KNEW   |2008-06-26
Looks like it's came straight from a cow's hole!
Nick   |2008-06-26
It is by far the best Celtic / Nike home shirt.
I like the gold trimmings and the slightly darker(sporting lisbon) shade of green-unless it's trick photography.
All they need noqw is a decent sponcer and a 'know what is good looking' instead of (yet) another nostalgia shirt that they hjave worn in the last few years. Not quiet their best ever but a very good design.
If only it would last for a couple of years.
Anonymous   |2008-06-26
like the gold swoosh
Anonymous   |2008-06-26
Looks no different than any other Celtic shirt to me.
giacomo   |2008-06-26

Oliver  - 5/5   |2008-06-26
Looks like a masterpiece to me
Ryan  - Provo   |2008-06-26

nicest celtic top
roger   |2008-06-26
avatar This is nice, although it resembles a lot the old one.
Scott   |2008-06-26
I like the new strip. It's the first Celtic strip to have another colour in it than green and white and black trip excluding the sponsor since we've had the hoops and the gold freshens it up and maybe the Irish fans will like it even more.

Any strip has to be passed by a supporters committee as part of the Celtic trust and they won't allow the badge or hoops to be alterred in any noticable way.

The modern sportswear manufacturers code indicates they should keep each home strip for 2 seasons and the away for one as the away then demoted to the 3rd or European strip in a cycle.
This never happened with the home as Nike and the club deemed last seasons strip as a souvanier jersey to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.

Before this the last 2 umbro home strips only lasted one year due to the change of contract to Nike and where allowed to produce an extra last strip as a "golden handshake".
kaney  - Nike have got lazy over new celtic shirts     |2008-06-26
This top isnt as nice as the last seasons. Nike do much better work with barca's stripes, as i Celtic fan id like to see a more progressive strip as designers are clearly too scared from the backlash from moaning fans about altering the stripes like the 02/03 season with the white patches under each arm.

Overall its pretty boring, nothing changed other than the green V neck and gold nike logo.

yawn.
Celtic Fan  - Celtic new shirt     |2008-06-26
I would just like to say that I love this top with the added gold on the nike badge and also love the V-neck collar. It is something diffrent from previous tops and nike must find it hard to be able to change the top because they can't really take the hoops away or even break the hoops at all.

Remember when Umbro tried to do it, they had got all sorts of complaints that year and more than alot of celtic fans had complained that year.

New Celtic top both home and away 5/5

Well done Nike

When we see Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink in this kit on this photo.
LostBhoy   |2008-06-26
I opened the enlarged kit for 07/08 next to the 08/09 one above, at 1st I was pissed last years top only lasted a season because it's really nice but this new one has some real improvements. The gold trim is nice, reversing the hoops is different and makes the Carling logo look better. The gold Nike Swoosh is a nice touch and the V neck is vastly better. 2 tops in less than 3 months tho? The Mrs. will not be pleased.......
The Holy Goaly   |2008-06-27
i think this is the nicest top since the 03/04 season
the gold makes it look very classy

gers1873   |2008-06-28
shit! no to 4 on a row!
Yeovil 4 Ever   |2008-06-28
This is is surely based on the Yeovil Town Vandell shirt. Call the copyright Police. And the sooner the Glovers go back to a solid green based shirt the better. It's annoying explaining to Jocks of both persuasions that the shirt I'm wearing belongs to South Somerset's finest !
