Manchester City 08/09 Away Le Coq Sportif kit E-mail
Friday, 27 June 2008

manchester_city_08_09_away_lcs_kit.jpg

Manchester City FC is proud to unveil its new away kit for the forthcoming 2008-09 season, in association with Official Club Sponsor, Thomas Cook, and Official Sportswear Partner, le coq sportif.

This year’s strips are a return to tradition, with the popular red and black stripes for the away shirt, first introduced by Malcolm Allison in 1968 and worn for many of the Club’s victorious domestic and European cup campaigns of the late 60s and early 70s. The new shirts are again amongst the most competitively priced in the Premier League, with prices held from last year at £30 for adults and just £19 for juniors.

The away strip, whose black and red stripes are reminiscent of this year’s Thomas Cook Trophy opponents AC Milan, will be available to order online from Monday 21 July.

Thomas Cook branded third kit and training wear will be available later this summer.

BluesFan   |2008-06-27
That's uglier than me, whats with the luminosity??
mikie   |2008-06-27
I like the kit, but I don't like the LCS-logo in electric yellow.
Ryan   |2008-06-27
Seconded - would look much better in white. Other than that, decent kit.
rayblue  - At last!!   |2008-06-27
We have been without our traditional red/black striped away kit for a few years now and this is a fantastic version.
Love the preference of black over red.
Cannot see the need for a third kit with sky blue and white for home and this away though!
Roll on launch day
Jon   |2008-06-27
I agree that a third kit is pointless but it all boils down to one thing - money.

Anyhow its not a bad kit, though the LCS logos would have been better off in white rather than fluorescent yellow.
MOSES   |2008-06-27
On both shirts the short sleeved version looks better, the long sleeves dont look right at all, love the away, unsure about the home
HATE the crappy sponsor materiel

Nike next year

avatar 3/5

Not bad,but I can't stand the yellow LCS logo and this asymmetry.

The socks would be good for MUFC...and they are very similar to AS Roma 2004-05 Diadora socks design

avatar They look in this kit like a south american team.
Tim   |2008-06-27
What is with LCS and the asymmetrical kit designs? They look terrible, as do the "bubbles" in the red stripes. Awful kit.

I'm not a City fan ("My old man said..." but they have been wanting a black/red striped shirt again for years, why they couldn't do a better one than this I don't know as people do better mock-ups on home computers than these companies come up with.
BlackDash   |2008-06-27
Ugly, just like the SPFC kit. Would be hard to do uglier than this.

avatar Awesome shirt I think. The only thing I don't like is the yellow logo, but outher than that, It's awesome. Love the red stripes and the thing in them.

long sleeve looks a bitt pro-star http://www.discountfootballkits.co.uk/prostarpages08/avellino08.htm
crap
Blackley Blue   |2008-06-27
It's a nice kit. lots of things about it should have been done differently like the daft pattern on the red stripes and the colour of the LCS logo, but i think i can live with it.

Btw, us changing to the red and black stripes was actually inspired by the success of the AC milan side of back then. And it worked for us too, lifted all sorts of silverware with it back then.

And to all the dirty rags posting about a city kit for some reason :roll (obsessed), it's much better than your away kit for the new season, now sod off on to your own pages
danwho   |2008-06-28
Would've given this a 5/5 but took off a point for the fluro yellow LCS logo and the naff white line - just ok on shirt but looks like a drawstring dangling down on the shorts!

This website is footballshirtculture which means ALL football shirts. We may not like some shirts, we may not like the teams, but all are welcome here. Telling someone to sod off to their own page makes it sound like this website is just for Man City fans (hey I prefer Citizens to Red Devils anyday but I hope you get my point!)

OMG, Awfal
Shakermaker   |2008-06-28
Large luminous cock on a football shirt? Couldnt sum up Man City any better.
callum   |2008-06-28
you are wierd

the kit is great
Jay   |2008-06-28
"Yes, I'm just signing...R-o-n-a-l-d-i-n- WHOAH! I'll have to wear THAT?!"

Oh, the hilarity.

Nice modern take on the classic red and black stripes, I think. The one thing I would change is the odd effect on the red stripes. Our away colours should be red and black stripes every season, so we can't complain too much.
LFC_TORRES9   |2008-06-28
if this shirt was made by adidas and had been symetrical it would be great

sadly its not looks like the french "cocked" up again
James   |2008-06-29
Le Coq Sportif - time to take a look at your design team. Your kits are horrific!
Wardie  - new MCFC 08-09 kits   |2008-06-30
Not to sure...

loved last seasons shirts (yes even the purple)

The home shirt looks a bit crap (basicallat like a training top!)
Always loved the red and black striped shirts but the bubbles and yellow LCS logo spoil this one
Lets hope for our sack the 3rd kit is nice so we ca wear that instead of the home one

Adidas for next season (adidas make awesome kits - love the designs of the current adidas shirts and found some home made mock-ups on here that were fantastic) fingers crossed!

lets hope for a good 08-09 season under hughes (unsure about him he hasnt done all that much at blackburn - no trophies just keeping them afloat really) good signing in Jo, Ronaldinho would be a luxury!
Nick   |2008-06-30
Very Brazilian, mistake with that awfull lime green/yellow LCS logo.
The shorts are just dull really.
The socks are okay and I do like the white edges on the stripes it is smart, the coller needs a re-think, as there is nothing intersting about it.
paul   |2008-06-30
at first glance i thought what i kit, but then i saw the stuff in the red stripes; why would you do that do an otherwise perfect kit. If i was a city fan i would probably buy it anyway but still...
fcb1893   |2008-07-01
Unexpected, but I like it.
Rex Croatorum   |2008-07-02
avatar Thump up for changing colours, but thumb down for the design. This is something that Yassa long ago during Yugoslavia would desgned, just the material would be more shiny...
haz-zee  - cmon...   |2008-09-23
guys, if you call yourselves city fans then you should really like the kit. its great! they did it a few seasons ago with first advice as their sposor. its something relatively new, most other prem teams have white or black as an away shirt, so lets embrace it while we have the oppurtunity.

on the other down

WE LOVE YOU ABU DHABI!!
