Rot-Weiss Essen unveiled their 08/09 home shirt made by Nike. The kit is sponsored by Sparkasse Essen who signed a 1 year sponsorship deal with the club.

The club was formed as SV Vogelheim on February 1st, 1907 out of the merger of two smaller clubs: SC Preussen and Deutsche Eiche. In 1910, Vogelheim came to an arrangement with Turnerbund Bergeborbeck that allowed the two clubs to field a football side. The footballers left in 1913 to set up their own club, Spiel- und Sportverein Emscher-Vogelheim, which changed its name to Spiel und Sport 1912 after World War I. Finally, in 1923, this side turned again to Turnerbund Bergeborbeck to create Rot-Weiss Essen.

I agree it is the training shirt used by Nike teams is Euro 2008- but with extra shoulder blocks.
I like the way the dark red flows into scarlett with the black and white flashes.
As a training shirt it's very very smart, but as a footie shirt a bit of a cop out.

If it wasn't for the white patches on top of the shirt I think this would be a very tasty looking kit. Unfortunately it has the white bits thus making the whole thing look rank. That is all

avatar This isn't nike's fault. They have actually bought these training tops and then they put a badge, a sponsor and numbers. They have not a real contract with nike.
