Southend United have unveilend their brand new 08/09 home kit for the upcoming Coca-Cola League One season. This is the first image of the Paint The Town Blue campaign. The new Nike shirt will be on sale from Thursday July 10th at 2pm, but the Club Shop are now taking pre-orders.

Supporters can visit the online Club Shop to reserve their kit for the new season, as Southend look to mount another push for promotion back to the Championship. Once again the Kit is produced by Nike and incorporates their latest Dri-Fit fabric, which is designed to keep you dry and comfortable.

The shirt features several shades of blue this season in a move away from the plain navy. The shirt also features Nike's Dri-Fit mesh panelling down each side to maximise ventilation and moves moisture rapidly away from the body. They say it also looks good with jeans!

Prices are the same as last season - Shirts: Adults £40, Youth £35, Children £33

Thanks to Stephen

I think its great! I love the introduction of the sky blue into the colourway - a real innovation for the club\'s kit. For some reason people seem to complain that Nike kits are plain but surely they can\'t say that about this design!

Absolutely. This is a top notch shirt. Nike seem to have little in the way of innnovation these days among the national and Premiership sides, but this is a very good shirt indeed.

Never been a fan of asymmetrical kits and this is one of the worst!

Everything goes with jeans, don\'t try such a pathetic line to sell a pathetic shirt. Southend fans deserve better than this.

We\'ve had season after season of plain blue nike stock, that you can buy for your pub team without the logo on. At last something different. Second only to the kit with the yellow sick stain on it from 10 years ago.

Why they\'re wearing nike training shirts as home kits?

I\'ve no idea why people are getting so hung about about calling it a training shirt. It doesn\'t look too bad an it does the job.

Why do people feel the need to put a label on it?

\"people are getting so hung about about calling it a training shirt\" cause wearing such a kit means loosing the personality of the respective football club.

Although I\'m not sold on the design and color scheme - at least it does NOT look identikit. Not sure I\'d want it for my club though.

At least it looks better than the Rot-Weiss Essen shirt which has an identical design.
